Your Community Needs You!Live or work within a half mile of King’s Cross Station? Here’s a way for you to help build your community.

There’s been a community here since before Roman times. It’s an area that suffers multiple deprivation with wealth and poverty sitting cheek by jowl. It’s becoming a great place to live and work. We want to make sure everyone living or working here gets the benefit of the improvements being made.

There are lots of brilliant people and community groups in KX doing fantastic work with local kids, the environment, creative arts, learning and skills and lots more. We want to add to this by:

Bringing together the whole community living or working within a half mile from King’s Cross Station.

Working with all age groups, particularly to bring the old and the young together.

Adding to the public amenities and recreation facilities we have.

Supporting existing community groups in King’s Cross in any way we can.

Cheek of it, who are these people? We are a brand new charitable trust managed by people who live and/or work in King’s Cross. We all give ourtime and experience to KCCP voluntarily. KCCP has no paid staff yet and no office overheads. You can find outmore about us on our website. We are supported by Clarke Associates, Conisbee, The Driver pub on Wharfdale Road, E C Harris and LB Islington. We will be adding to our supporters list regularly.

What’s going on?We are working hard on our first ever project, a vertical garden and permanent art installation on the north side of the King’s Cross gyratory system. We’ve asked a fantastic young sculptor to work with an innovative landscape designer and Kew trained horticulturalist to transform an ugly and unloved wall into a stunning living artwork which will make us all smile. We’ll be developing more projects, particularly ones that help our existing community groups, so watch this space for news!

What can I do?

King’s Cross is a fractured community, partly because we are split between the London boroughs of Camden and Islington and partly because our community has to cope with so many major infrastructure projects within its boundaries resulting in physical splits being created such as the canal, the ring road and the stations. We remain a community however, even though we have to keep asserting our identity!king’s cross community projects
