Lady Astronaut

I want to be an astronaut

And fly off to the moon

I’d wave good-bye to mummy

And say I’ll see you soon

You wouldn’t have to worry

When I flew right out of sight

You could come and see my journey

On the internet every night

I’d eat my toast and Vegemite

As I float around the rocket

I’d brush my teeth, wash my hands

And keep a hankie in my pocket

I’d programme the computer

To dock safely on the ground

I promise to be quiet

If there’s anyone around

There’d be moon rocks I can climb on

Craters big and small

I’d stand right on the edge of them

But mummy, I won’t fall

I hope I have a robot friend

To talk to on the flight

I’d programme him to sing to me

Like you do every night

I’d probably see meteors

And an asteroid or two

I’d see the moon and have good fun

Then fly right home to you.
