clothes, kickedhis shoes offfiercelyandripped offeach stocking with its elasticgarter in a single movement. Then heleaptback on the terrace, pulled offhisshirt, and stood there among the skull-likecoco-nuts with green shadows from thepalms and the forest sliding over his skin.

platform, he shouted an order and they halted []The boy himself came forward, vaulted on to theplatform with his cloak flying, and peered intowhat to him was almost complete darkness. []

The boy came close and peered down at Ralph,screwing up his face as he did so. What he saw ofthe fair-haired boy [] did not seem to satisfyhim. He turned quickly, his black cloak flying.
