Gammon is all about meeting challenges – that goes without saying. But something I've learned from you all in my years as part of our team is that we can go beyond. We don't just meet challenges, we surpass them. In fact, that is almost the definition of leadership – we are determined to rise above conventional thinking.

We see examples of this spirit from our colleagues frequently – for example, at the Tuen Mun – Chek Lap Kok Link (TM-CLKL) project over the Tung Chung Navigation Channel. This is our largest-ever solo project – demanding in the diversity of expertise required, and its scale and complexity. The team faces all the everyday difficulties that we have learned to take in our stride, but also a unique mix of hard problems: such as limited night working hours, extreme weather, airport height restrictions, the need to protect precious marine life, and toughest of all, a worksite that includes the shifting sea itself, with its tides, waves and currents.

However, for every question, they are finding answers: using advanced modelling and simulation to deal with problems before they occur; moving coral colonies to preserve them; and developing innovative methods for handling large precast elements, while also improving the aesthetic appeal of the piers.

Sometimes, we see a problem as a nuisance, but in fact, these are precisely the challenges which drive us to innovate and excel.

多年來，金門同仁團結一致，默默地克服各項工程的挑戰。我作為金門團

隊的一分子，見證�各位同事努力不懈地跨越障礙，精益求精。事實上，

作為領導的一個基本要素，就是突破傳統思維。

我們在工程項目中展現追求革新的精神，位於東涌

船隻航道的屯門至赤�角連接路 – 南面連接路高架

道路段項目就是最佳例證。這是金門歷來最高價值

的單獨承建項目，規模龐大而複雜，必須揉合不同

範疇的專業人才和技術來應對。項目團隊除運用豐

富的經驗和知識解決每日施工的問題外，更要面對

一些前所未見又複雜的挑戰，例如只能在晚間有限

的時段施工、極端的天氣情況、嚴守機場的高度限

制、保護珍貴的海洋生物，當中最困難

的，是海上施工時不斷受潮汐漲退、

浪湧和暗流所影響。

然而，項目團隊努力跨越每

一項障礙：如利用先進的模擬技

術預計施工情況，在問題浮現

前已把它們妥善處理；保育珊

瑚，重置受影響的珊瑚礁；研

究創新的方法處理大型預製件，

同時改善橋墩設計的美感。

有時候，我們遇到困難會感到煩

厭，但事實上，這些困難亦可被視為

挑戰，是推動我們創新和提升自己的

動力。

You may notice that this issue of The Record looks somewhat different from previous issues.

You will see that we have changed the masthead and begun using a more modern font for English headings. We have revamped the page layout to bring more variety to the arrangement of text and photos. We have also created a new colour scheme, and added fact boxes, to make the layout more lively.

This issue is dedicated to Zero Harm, the lifeblood of our business continuity. To feel the pulse of how Zero Harm is being realised on our sites, we interviewed three “Safety Stars” in Gammon – winners of Safety Bonus Awards this year. Their personal sharing reassures our conviction that safety culture is not built by senior management only. Everyone can influence others by what you say, how you act, what you prioritise and what you measure in your daily work. Identifying weak signals, supporting behaviour change and challenging trade practices should be done as part of our day job in Gammon. Please read pages 22-24 to find out more.

Gammon has celebrated spring 2015 with four major contract wins: two Hong Kong residential development projects in Tsuen Wan and Tseung Kwan O respectively, contributing a total of over 1,300 residential

Multiple Contract Awards Celebrated以實力贏取多項工程

units; Alteration and Addition Works to the existing Murray Building in Hong Kong to reshape it as an appealing hotel in the city; as well as the Track System Replacement Project involving installation of concrete sleepers on the East-West Line in Singapore.

Developed by Chinachem Group, the West Rail Tsuen Wan West Station TW5 Cityside Property Development project includes the construction of about 900 residential flats, in seven towers, above a three-story retail podium with one basement level. Total construction floor area will be 112,000m2.

For another residential development at 33 Tong Yin Street, Tseung Kwan O, Gammon is responsible to construct residential towers, as well as retail areas, a clubhouse and a basement carpark. The project is committed to complying with the Beam Plus standards.

With a proven track record of its outstanding technical expertise in alteration and addition building works, Gammon was awarded the contract from The Wharf (Holdings) Limited to reshape the

existing Murray Building in Central as a hotel. Catering to the unique features of the building, the project is scheduled for completion in 2017.

The Track System Replacement Project on the East-West Line in Singapore is the second contract awarded to Gammon, following the one on the North-South Line. The project is part of a nationwide sleeper replacement programme across the North-South and East-West Lines managed by SMRT Trains Ltd, with the objective of delivering safer, smoother and more reliable train rides for all commuters in Singapore.

金門在2015年春季奪得四項重要工程合約，分別是

兩項位於�灣及將軍澳的住宅發展項目，落成後將

為香港提供超過1,300個住宅單位；美利大廈改建及

加建為酒店用途的工程；以及為SMRT地鐵有限公

司的東西�枕軌更換工程。

西鐵�灣西站五區城畔項目由華懋集團發展，

工程包括興建三層零售商場及一層地庫，建造七幢

住宅大樓，提供約900個住宅單位，總建築面積達

112,000平方米。

另一住宅發展項目位於將軍澳唐賢街33號，金門

負責興建住宅大廈、商場、會所及地庫停車場，並會

致力達至BEAM Plus綠色建築樓宇標籤。

金門具備豐富的改建及加建工程經驗，憑卓越

的專業技術贏得九龍倉集團的合約，將中環的美利

大廈改劃為酒店用途，並會保留大廈本身的獨有特

色，預計項目在2017年竣工。

繼更換SMRT地鐵有限公司的南北�路軌枕木

工程合約後，金門再取得東西�的同�型項目。這

是SMRT地鐵有限公司為�國南北�和東西�更換

路軌枕木計劃的一部分，目的是為乘客提供更安

�、暢順和可靠的列車服務。1

Express Rail Link Contract 811B, a Gammon-Leighton Joint Venture, has reached new heights, surpassing its already stellar performance with a DNV audit score of Level 8. This matches the highest score ever seen in Hong Kong, and it is only the second time this level has been achieved. The new record, beating the project’s previous best of Level 7.8, was attributed to further improvements in communications and already high safety and health standards, and months of hard work by the whole project team.

金門－禮頓聯營的高鐵合約811B工程項目於DNV審核創下驕人

成績，取得第8級的評分，現時香港只有兩個工程項目取得如

此佳績。811B工程項目曾於去年的DNV審核中取得第7.8級評

分，項目團隊自此進一步優化溝通系統、強化安�及健康等元

素。能成就卓越，實有賴整個項目團隊的共同努力，每一位團

隊成員都功不可沒！1

The Thomson-East Coast Line development will reshape the landscape of Singapore with the construction of six stations, in which Gammon will contribute to the Havelock Station project.

A groundbreaking ceremony held on 7 March was a significant milestone, with the promise of greater accessibility and convenience that the Line will bring. The ceremony was attended by more than 100 local residents and over 200 staff from the Land Transport Authority (LTA), guests, Gammon and other contractors.

Hee Wee Tan, our Executive Director (top left), received a commemorative gift from the Guest of Honour, Indranee Rajah, Senior Minister of State for Law and Education and MP for Tanjong Pagar GRC. He also engaged in discussion with the local residents at the exhibits in the Project Information Centre.

Yip Chi Wai (Senior Electrical Foreman)

Idea: Alert System on Metal Scaffold Hatch Door

Description: To ensure safe access for the workers and eliminate a loophole in metal scaffold work, a sophisticated alert system was created on the metal scaffold hatch door. Yellow and black safety warning tape alerts workers the opening and closing of the hatch door. In addition, LED lights and alarm bells installed beneath the edge are automatically switched on when the door is opened, to enhance the awareness of workers towards the surrounding environment.

Benefits: Create a safe environment and prevent falls.

創新意念：金屬棚架活門警報系統

特點：�新設計的活門警報系統能提升安�表現，剔除工友使用金屬棚

架時出現的風險。黃、黑相間的安�警示膠帶提醒工友注意開關活門；

此外，門下邊沿位置安裝了LED警示燈和警鐘，當活門打開時會自行啟

動，提醒工友注意四週的工作環境。

效益：建造安�工作環境，及防止跌倒。

Description: As accidents often occur during the operation of bar bending machines, an innovative automatic safety guard was added to the machine. The machine can only be operated if the safety guard is covering it properly.

Benefits: Protect the operators and colleagues nearby.

創新意念：彎管機自動化安�保護裝置

特點：鑑於不少工友在操作彎管機時發生意外，所以特別加設這創新的自

動化安�保護裝置。只有當彎管機妥善蓋上，保護裝置後才能啟動。

效益：保障操作彎管機的工友和�近工友的安�。

Ken Cheng Kit Ming (Assistant Electrical Engineer)

Idea: Portal Hydraulic Punch Machine

Description: To manage the tower strengthening works at the E&M CLP Project, the technical staff need to drill

thousands of holes in new steel members or existing tower members for further fixing by bolt and nut into different towers. The Portal Hydraulic Punch Machine was developed to facilitate the work. Different dies in the punch machine make various diameters of holes possible, and the punch machine can be operated with electrical power or manually, even in remote areas.

Benefits: Cause less noise and wastage of chips during the process compared to the traditional drilling machine.

鄭傑明（助理電氣工程師）

創新意念：易�式扣液壓打孔機

特點：在中華電力架空電纜項目中，為進行電塔加

固工程，技術人員必須在�新或現有的鋼構件上鑽

數以千計的小孔，然後用螺栓和螺母進一步固定在

不同的電塔上。這易�式扣液壓打孔機能提升工程

效益，打孔機能以大小不同的管芯打出不同直徑的

圓孔，而且可在偏遠地區以人手或電力操作。

效益：相對傳統鑽孔機，這創新設計操作的噪音

較低，浪費的芯片亦較少。

Idea: Adjustable Bored Pile Working Platform

Description: As existing bored pile working platforms only fit for fixed-sized piles, it’s necessary to store a range of the platforms on site due to the many different pile sizes adopted. By developing a platform which can be adjusted from 2.0m to 3.0m diameter, the new initiative minimises the number of working platforms required.

Benefits: Save working and storage space, and easier to assemble and dismantle.

創新意念：可調式灌注樁工作平台

特點：現時的灌注樁工作平台只適用於指定尺碼的灌注樁，建造項目時，工地須存放不同尺碼的平

台，以配合不同的灌注樁工程。這創新的工作平台適合直徑2.0米至3.0米的灌注樁使用，從而減少

儲存工作平台的數量。

效益：節省工作和儲存空間，組裝和拆卸工序更為簡便。

Yip Kai Tai (Assistant Project Manager)

Idea: Modular Tower

Description: Temporary steel towers are tailor-made with steel and built with heavy duty scaffold in situ, causing time and cost. To reinvent the temporary work, a modular tower design is implemented for truss work and the associated floor beam erection. Each modular tower is pre-fabricated in yard with a built-in staircase, with bolted connections allowing easy assembly. The modules are standardised with 3 different sizes: 1m, 2m and 4m in height. They can be combined to suit different height requirements and reused in other projects.

Benefits: Safer, more efficient and cost-effective.

葉啟泰（助理項目經理）

創新意念：組合式鋼塔

特點：傳統的臨時鋼塔以重型鋼材和棚架，

在地盤現場度身建造，花費不少工程時間和

成本。這創新的組合式鋼塔能改善臨時工

程，製作桁架和所須橫樑。每個組合式鋼塔

均於廠房預製，內建有樓梯，組件採用螺栓

連接，讓裝嵌工序更為簡便。組合式鋼塔設

有三款標準高度：1米、2米和4米，可因應

不同要求自由組合於其他項目重用。

效益：更安�，更具效率和成本效益。

Sammy Chau Wai Kwong (Site Agent)

Idea: Guide Frame for H-pile Connection

Description: The Guide Frame for H-pile Connection is a new and custom-made device that makes the extension of steel H-sections much easier. The device is designed to be fixed in between the two flanges of the H-section with the bolt-on screw feature, allowing simple alignment of H-steel. The device can be bolted onto the connecting end of the first H-section accurately, while the extended H-section is then easily fitted on the top.

Benefits: Reduce the construction time of the extension of steel H-sections and applicable to other H-sections with a slight modification.

創新意念：連接工字樁的導向框架

特點：這連接工字樁的導向框架是�新及度身訂製的工具，能簡化延長工字樁鋼材的工序。它的栓

接螺絲設計，是用來固定在工字樁的兩個凸緣之上，令校正工作更為簡便。只要準確地把這導向框

架螺栓固定在第一條工字樁的連接端，就可輕鬆地把另一條工字樁放置上面。

效益：縮短延伸工字樁鋼材的施工時間，稍加改動又可應用於其他工字樁工程。

James Kwok Ho Ming (Assistant Project Manager)

Idea: Tailor-Made Clamp for Composite Column Erection

Description: A newly-devised tailor-made clamp has been used to temporarily

fix the support during composite column erection. Compared to the traditional concrete block, it offers several benefits. It reduces reliance on tower cranes to install the support during column erection. It also requires less drilling work at the concrete temporary tie bracket, and reduces clashes with other work. Overall, it has proven to add value to projects.

Benefits: Shorten the programme, more efficient and cost-effective.

郭浩明（助理項目經理）

創新意念：為豎立組合支柱而度身訂製的鉗夾

特點：這個�新的鉗夾用以暫時固定豎立組合支

架。與傳統的混凝土砌塊比較，這鉗夾具有多項

優點：豎立支柱時，可減少依賴塔式起重機安裝

支架；減少在臨時混凝土框式支架上鑽孔，並避

免與其他工作發生衝突。整體而言，新鉗夾為項

目增值。

效益：有助縮短工期、提升效率和成本效益。

Tang Ming (Principal Engineer)

Idea: Lifting Appliance for Curtain Wall Construction

Description: A new type of lifting appliance for curtain wall construction was invented to enable constructive changes. The lifting arm is extendible from 500mm to 2900mm, and its connection with the support can be rotated to allow the hanger to move freely in a space-restricted site environment. Compared to the existing lifting appliance, the new design can handle heavy duty of up to 2 tons in contrast to the traditional limit of 1.5 tons.

Benefits: More efficient and handle greater loads than traditional methods.

特點：這個�新的幕牆建築工程起重裝置有助改善現行的建造方

式。起重臂具備擴展功能，可由500毫米延伸至2,900毫米，與支架

Lau Ho Sing (Production Manager)

Idea: Alternative Wall Tie

Description: Traditionally, the wall ties of external scaffolds are connected to the exterior column and wall or to the structural floor by passing them through the window opening. However, a scaffold collapse could be triggered by severe weather. An alternative wall tie was designed to tackle this problem. The bracket is installed at the exterior column and wall first, prior to cladding installation and the bracket is placed between the cladding panels. A company-wide Stand Down was held on 26 March. Our people actively participated in the discussion. Recent safety performance was reviewed in order to identify any traditional practices that stifle our safety development. We were glad that we had explored a number of constructive solutions to safeguard the safety of our workers.

Building a card house is not only an enjoyable pastime, it’s also a vivid illustration of basic engineering principles.

The resisting forces that enable you to stack playing cards are identical to those needed for strong and durable construction projects.

To build a card house, all you need is a level surface, a new deck of cards and a steady pair of hands. But what if you were to build that same card house on a rocking boat? For an idea of just how challenging that might be, give it a try the next time you take the Star Ferry across the harbour.

Gammon now faces the same kind of challenge, with the construc-tion of the main viaduct of the TM-CLKL project over the Tung Chung Navigation Channel, which unlike viaducts constructed over land, requires a viaduct launching gantry rather than just a simple crane.

The constantly shifting tides are one of the major challenges, says KF Tam, Project Director of TM-CLKL. “The trusses are very heavy and long. On land, you can easily lift them into position if you have done a proper crane lifting assessment and evaluation. But on the water, the crane barges are not stable. You have to wait until the water is calm.”


Challenges faced, challenges solvedMore than 100 engineers are involved in the planning, design, implementation and supervision of the TM-CLKL works, and there are over 700 workers, including 200 direct labour from Gammon. At the peak of construction towards the end of 2015, over 1,000 workers will be employed around the clock in two shifts.

“We need people with a lot of experience in marine work for this project, which is one of the most complex sections of the entire Hong Kong – Zhuhai – Macao Bridge and the Link”, says KF.

In addition to the challenges of lifting the bridge segments, the Gammon team must contend with working next to an operating

railway, height restrictions due to the project’s proximity to the airport, and protecting the flora and fauna of this environmentally-sensitive area.

To ensure the project proceeds as planned, Gammon has put all the ingenuity of its people into play. The distinctive seagull wing-shaped piers, for example, were a mandatory part of the tender, yet no one had determined exactly how they would be built. Using Building Information Modelling (BIM), Gammon showed how the piers could be constructed, and even improved on the aesthetic appeal of the design, which evokes the rhythmic, dynamic motion of seagulls flying across the surface of the sea.

The project team brought up the precast method for the construction of many viaduct elements, such as the precast pile cap shells, viaduct segments, parapets, retaining wall panels and precast shells for the seagull piers. Gammon has extended its application in order to save time and meet what is complied with a very tight programme. Compared with the traditional method of casting in-situ – which requires setting up formwork, fixing steel rebars and curing the concrete – the precast approach avoids in-situ formwork, reduces material wastage and the need for working at height, and minimises the possibility of accidentally dropping concrete into the sea.

But this approach presented yet another set of challenges: how to fit the 2,653 segments of the main viaduct seamlessly together? The segments, which were pre-cast in mainland China and sent to the site on barges, are up to 11 metres in height (the tallest of any

construction project in Hong Kong). Each had a slightly different curve so geometric control was absolutely critical for ensuring a proper fit.

Harness the power of technology At the site, each segment of the bridge was carefully lifted into place to make a balanced cantilever T-shape, then stitched together and stressed with tendons. Due to limited space, BIM was applied to visualise how all the pieces would fit before work began and for planning the temporary works. 3D scanning and photogrammetry were also adopted to ensure the segments were cast precisely according to plan.

In another example of Gammon ingenuity, KF’s team has developed a special “K” Frame device as a back-up to the main gantry so that work can be carried out in areas where more flexibility is required, such as sharp curves in the viaduct’s alignment. segments by 90 degrees, the “K” Frame can be applied on other segmental bridges in the future.

One of the greatest concerns of the project is constructing the two viaducts that run across the Airport Expressway. As the minimum clearance between the MTR isolation zone and the bridges is just one metre, 3D scanning was essential for capturing accurate spatial dimensions, Sketch-up for simulating the lifting activities by land cranes, and BIM for showing every single step of the bridge construction sequence to frontline supervisors and workers.

Compounding the challenge of operating in a tightly constrained space, work can only be carried out from 1:30 am to 4:30 am, when the railway is not operating.

Protect community, dolphins, coral and treesSince the major part of the TM-CLKL project runs over a navigation channel, minimising the impact of construction on water quality is key. Thanks to the construction approach taken, Gammon has significantly reduced the amount of dredging and foundation work required on the seabed.

Gammon is also closely monitoring marine life in the area. Of particular concern is the impact of construction on the Chinese White Dolphin, especially in the May to June calving season when the area around the underwater socket formation is restricted. To protect coral, Gammon carried out a survey prior to the start of foundation works and translocated coral colonies that might have been affected.

A tree survey was also undertaken in order to preserve existing trees within the project boundary as much as possible. Trees that are affected by the viaduct construction and realignment of Cheung Tung Road will be transplanted when it is feasible to do so.

Link to the futureValued at HK$8.66 billion, the TM-CLKL Southern Connection Viaduct Section is the largest solo project ever awarded to Gammon.

Together with the Tuen Mun Western Bypass, it comprises a strategic road connecting the North West New Territories, North Lantau, Hong Kong International Airport at Chek Lap Kok, the Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities and Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, the first major combined bridge and tunnel sea-crossing project in China.

Gammon is undertaking the project on a design-and-build basis. The scope of the project covers a dual two-lane marine crossing with a 1.6km viaduct across the sea comprising five link or slip road viaduct structures at the southern landfall, and four link road structures at North Lantau and associated works. The overall length of the precast segmental viaduct structure is approximately 9km.

Substantial construction equipment will be employed on the project, including 2 x 200m segment launching gantries and 3 pairs of segment lifting frames.


Additionally, Gammon has taken steps to minimise or eliminate air and noise impact on the residents of nearby Pak Mong Village, which in large part will be addressed through the con-struction methods and sequence that have been adopted. Gammon has also appointed a public relations team to handle any enquiries from the community and to keep area residents informed of the construction progress and traffic diversions.

As part of the Company’s normal practice, Gammon will reuse excavated materials to the greatest extent possible and identify recycling facilities or other construction sites where surplus excavated materials can be reused.

Ready for future challengesWith construction of the main viaduct now well under way, the North Lantau shoreline appears to have been occupied by a flotilla preparing for a major naval engagement. More than 30 crane barges and 30 transport barges fill the channel, working steadily to give shape to this milestone project.

Many of the project’s early challenges have been overcome, although undoubtedly there will be more as work goes into high gear near the end of 2015. KF and his team, however, are more than ready to meet them. “I’m always thinking about how to build the project, how to make it work and how to make it better,” he says.

小輪渡過維多利亞港時，試試在船上疊紙牌屋吧！

金門在東涌船隻航道上興建屯門至赤�角連接路的

主要高架道路，正面對�似的挑戰。在地面建造高架道

路只需用一般的起重機，但在水上進行工程，則需要運

用大型的吊裝式架橋機。

金門項目董事譚建輝指出，面對不斷轉變的潮汐漲

退是項目的其中一大挑戰。他說：「建造高架道路的架

橋機既重且長，若在陸上進行工程，只需要做好嚴格的

吊運測試及評估，就可以輕易把架橋機提吊到指定位

置；但海上的吊臂躉船搖晃不定，我們只能等待風平浪

靜的時候才可以施工。」

乘風破浪創造價值屯門至赤�角連接路項目一共有超過100名工程師參與

計劃、設計、執行和�導的工作，另聘用超過700名工

人，其中200名由金門直接僱用。預計在2015年底建造

高峰期，更需調配超過1,000名工人，每日24小時分兩

班輪流施工。

譚建輝說：「這項目是整條港珠澳大橋及連接部分最

複雜的路段之一，我們需要調配大量對海上項目有豐富

經驗的人才以完成任務。」

除了提吊橋面構件的挑戰，金門團隊還須克服其他

困難，包括在鐵路旁施工、項目鄰近機場須嚴守高度限

制；及動、植物生態環境的保護。

為確保項目按原定計劃進行，金門集結相關人才，

並委以重任。標書中指定橋墩設計是獨特的海鷗展翅外

形，但並沒有提供明確的建造方法。因此，項目團隊

利用建築信息模擬（BIM）技術展示建造橋墩的方法和程

序，更主動優化橋墩設計增強美感，把海鷗劃破海上長

空的韻律和動感活靈活現地展現出來。

管理團隊亦構思以預製方法製造多款高架道路組

件，包括預製樁帽殼、橋面構件、橋面護牆、擋土牆板

及海鷗橋墩的預製殼。為配合非常緊湊的工期，金門加

大力度，採用預製件以節省施工時間。傳統方法在工地

現場鑄造組件，需要架起模板、固定鋼筋，然後等待混

凝土硬化成形；但預製件建築方案則無需在工地現場建

造模板，不但減少浪費物料及減少高空工作，更可避免

混凝土意外掉進海中。

然而，預製件方案亦為項目帶來另一項挑戰，就

是如何完美無瑕地接合主要高架道路的2,653件橋面構

善用科技事半功倍在施工層面，項目團隊小心吊運橋面構件到指定位置，

形成平衡的T形懸臂，然後利用預應力拉緊。由於工地

空間有限，團隊在施工前應用BIM預先檢視如何裝配所

有構件，並計劃相關的臨時工程；又採用三維掃描和航

空攝影測量技術，按照圖則和原定計劃準確製造構件。

團隊亦自行研發了一個獨特的「K」字結構架，作為

主要吊架的後援工具，讓工程人員可以在需要更具彈性

連接未來屯門至赤�角連接路 - 南面連接路高架道路段項目總

值86.6億港元，是金門歷來最高價值的單獨承建

項目。

這項目聯同屯門西繞道，將提供一條新的策略性

道路，連接新界西北、北大嶼山、赤�角香港國際機

場、香港口岸設施，及中國第一項跨海橋隧結合項目

- 港珠澳大橋。

金門承建這項目的工程包括設計及建造一段長約

1.6公里的雙線雙程跨海高架行車道，在連接路南面填

海建造五條高架接駁道路和支路，以及在北大嶼山興

建四條支路及其他相關工程。整段以預製橋面構件建

成的高架道路�長約9公里。

項目需利用多台龐大的建築設備，包括吊裝構件

用的2 x 200米架橋機，三對吊運構件的吊架。

4:30鐵路休息的時候進行，令整個項目的管理更具挑戰。

保護社區、海豚、珊瑚和樹木屯門至赤�角連接路項目的主要部分橫跨東涌船隻航

道，因此，項目團隊致力減少建造工程對水質的影響。

憑藉高效的建造方案，團隊大幅減少海床挖泥和建造地

基的工作。

項目團隊亦密切監察項目�近地區的海洋生態，特

別關注建造工程對中華白海豚的影響，在5月至6月繁

殖季節，實施禁止在�近的水底進行鑽孔樁打樁工程。

保護珊瑚方面，團隊展開地基工程前已進行一項珊瑚調

查，並重置可能受影響的珊瑚礁。

工程人員又進行了一項樹木調查，盡可能保留工程項

目範圍內的現有樹木，在可行的情況下，把興建高架道路

和更改翔東路工程範圍影響的樹林移植到合適的地方。

此外，項目團隊採取有效措施減低空氣污染及噪

音，以免對�近白芒村居民造成影響，亦委派一支公

關隊伍與社區人士建立有效的溝通渠道，處理查詢的同

時，讓居民知悉工程的進度和有關的交通改道措施。

秉持金門綠色建築的原則，工程人員重用挖掘物料，

善用循環再造設施，及在其他建築工地重用剩餘物料。

準備就緒迎接未來挑戰主要高架道路的建造正進行得如火如�，北大嶼山海岸

彷彿有一支小型艦隊正要為一項重要的海軍活動做好準

備。超過30艘吊躉和30艘躉船正停泊在航道，默默地建

造這標誌著香港新里程的項目。

項目早期的多項問題已經迎刃而解，但隨著工程在

2015年底步入高峰期，無疑會呈現更多的挑戰。譚建輝

和他的團隊已經準備就緒，迎接挑戰，他說：「我無時

無刻都在思考如何施工，如何令工程做得更好。」1

The Hong Kong Architectural Services Department (ArchSD) commended Gammon's dedication to environmental performance with the Green Contractor Bronze Award.

The Award aims to promote and give recognition to the private sector’s exercise of sustainable design and construction. The ArchSD singled out outstanding work on two of Gammon’s projects: Redevelopment of Victoria Park Swimming Pool Complex, and Redevelopment of Kwun Tong Swimming Pool Complex and Kwun Tong Recreation Ground.

The results of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Hong Kong Awards 2015 were revealed at its Hong Kong Annual Dinner on 13 March.

Over twenty of the top firms in the industry took home awards, with Gammon being proudly named Construction Project Team of the Year Winner. It was honoured for its work on MTRC’s West Island Line project,

a triumph of professionalism and contribution to the built environment.

Staying ahead in the construction industry, Gammon keeps its ambition of going green burning as brightly as ever. Its delivered promises have earned remarkable achievements at 2014 Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence (HKAEE), one of the most renowned and prestigious award schemes in Hong Kong, organised by the Environmental Campaign Committee (ECC).

This year’s awards ceremony was held on 14 May at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The Honourable CY Leung, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Wong Kam-sing, the Secretary for the Environment, graced the ceremony with their presence as officiating guests.

In the esteemed company of government representatives and all those industry stakeholders, the Gammon – Kaden SCL 1111 Joint Venture: Hung Hom North Approach Tunnels won the Construction Industry Gold Award. This is the fifth year that Gammon took home the Gold Award since the Awards was established in 2008.

Gammon is also proud to receive two Bronze Awards and two

The Source of True Happiness When other workers were taking a nap after lunch, Kim Wai took the opportunity to observe other workers’ work and enrich himself with knowledge of other areas of expertise, and, more importantly, the safe practices on site, he recalled. With his steadfast commitment at work, co-workers often call him “Worry-free with Wai Gor”.

With over 40 years hands-on experience in the construction industry, Kim Wai has not only mastered his profession, but also the art of building rapport with people. To manage a team of sixty, Kim Wai believes in mutual respect and fairness. “It is good to have diverse perspectives in the team. I am glad that my subordinates will raise their ideas, some even better than mine. Together, we make things happen and prove it safe.” says Kim Wai.

Patience is another vital element for cultivating safety culture. Kim Wai points out two common destructive phenomena that are seen in safety issues: You only know it after it happens, and you don’t know what you don’t

The Safety Bonus Award is a special internal award that encourages proactive safe practices – and helps keep our staff, contractors, clients, and the community safe – by rewarding the truly exceptional performers in safety leadership and delivery amongst Gammon staff.

Since the establishment of the Award in 2012, directors of each division (Civil, Building, E&M, Foundations, CSD, and Singapore) have carefully selected winners, who must consistently demonstrate exceptional safety leadership and delivery in at least three of the following eight elements:

• Design & Engineering • People • Learning• Plant & Equipment • Informed • Fair – Respectful• Process • Mindful

This year, a Safety Star helmet sticker has been specially designed for the awardees in recognition of their role model status and to promote safety culture.

The Record interviewed three of the awardees, who share their personal experiences in realising the vision of “Bold Commitment”.

金門的「安�獎金」計劃鼓勵員工主動實踐安�措施，保障工友、分判商、客戶

和公眾的安�，並表揚在安�領導和安�建造方面有傑出表現的同事。

金門在2012年設立這獎項時已訂定一套嚴謹的評審標準，由各部門的董事

（包括土木工程、樓宇建築、機電工程、地基、建築服務及新加坡）嚴格挑選得

獎者。得獎者必須在以下八個範疇中，最少於三個範疇上持續地展現傑出的安

�領導才能，並具備突出表現：

• 設計及工程 • 人際關係 • 學習態度

• 機械及設備 • 知識 • 持平 – 備受敬重

• 施工程序 • 用心致志

今年金門特別設計了一顆安�至叻星章，讓得獎者張貼在安�帽，以嘉許他們樹

立典範及致力推廣安�文化。

《金門印記》訪問了今年的三位得獎主，分享他們在實踐「堅決承諾」的個

人體驗。

When asked if he is happy with his work, Kim Wai answers with a definite “Yes!”

真正的快樂

羅劍偉憶述當初投身建造業的時候，當別人於午飯時

間休息，他便利用這個空檔觀察其他工友的工作，藉

此增進自己在其他專業範疇的知識，特別是工地內的

安�措施。他持續學習的工作態度，贏得同事一致的

讚揚：「有偉哥，無甩拖」。

擁有四十年建造業實際經驗的羅劍偉，不單具

備獨到的專門技能，更通曉與別人建立友好關係的

藝術，他管理一支60人的團隊，貫徹始終地履行互

相尊重和人人平等的原則。羅劍偉說：「團隊成員有

不同觀點是一件好事，我很高興我的下屬經常提出

他們的意見，有些見解更比我的優勝，我們一起並

肩作戰，實踐『謹慎驗證·以策安�』的理念。」

耐性是培育安�文化的重要元素，羅劍偉指出

兩項常見又會損害安�表現的現象，其一是「後知後

覺」，其次是「不知不覺」。為填補這溝通上的縫隙，

羅劍偉努力向隊員灌輸正確的安�觀念，透過簡報

會和日常的接觸，耐心地解釋推行適當安�措施背

後的理論和原則。

問他是否喜歡現時這工作時，羅劍偉毫不猶豫

地回答：「當然」。

Safety without BoundariesThe label of “Nosy” could be negative in some ways, however, it is probably the secret that helped Lung win this safety honour. “Whenever you have queries about unsafe working conditions, careless habits, or improper use of equipment,” Lung said, “you have to speak out, even if it is outside the scope of your work. In fact, accidents result from very minor loopholes. As part of the team, I consider myself to be responsible for safety on site, and we will always remain vigilant and mindful.”

Lung’s strong sense of purpose about safety is highly appreciated, though he sometimes might encounter unpleasant responses when his questions are considered

“irrelevant”. He said, “It is really nothing compared with the safety of our people. As long as you are willing to share your thoughts, either you contribute to address safety issues or you learn from it. Either way, you create values for the project and yourself.” Lung’s sincerity has in fact won the hearts of his teammates, subcontractors and workers.

Lung never just walks past safety issues. He once found the stairs were unlocked in the excavation area. To prevent workers from entering the area without permission, and eliminate the risk of falling from height, he immediately locked the stairs and reported to the management. Lung vividly demonstrates the spirit of “You See. You Act”.

被標籤為「好管閒事」一般帶點負面含意，但「好管閒

事」卻可能是洪游龍贏得「安�獎金」的秘訣。「每當你

有任何懷疑，例如工作環境的安�措施不足、粗心大

意的習慣，甚至不適當使用工具設備，即使是你工作

範圍以外微細的事項，亦必須提出。事實上，很多時

微細的漏洞正是釀成重大意外事故的原因。我作為團

隊的一分子，應以工地的安�為己任。我們必須時刻

保持警惕，注意安�。」

評審團非常讚賞洪游龍對建設安�環境的決

心。雖然有時候洪游龍亦會收到「問題無關痛癢」的

回應，但他並未因此而氣餒，他說：「相對團隊的安

�，這實在是微不足道。無論是為提升安�作出貢

獻，或是為個人學習而提問，只要是真誠地分享意

見，都會為工程項目和自己創造更佳價值。」事實

上，洪游龍摯誠的態度已贏得團隊其他成員、分判

商和工友的衷心讚許。

在工作上洪游龍不會對任何有風險的行為置身

事外。有一次他發現通往挖掘區的階梯仍未上鎖，

為防止未經許可的工友擅自進入範圍及避免高空墮

下的風險，他立即把階梯鎖好，然後向管理層匯

報。洪游龍正確地示範了「安�至上，身體力行」的

態度。

以理念和熱誠改變他人

他取笑自己的膚色說：「我是從非洲來的。」冼惠強堅守為工友營造安�的

工作環境，每日不辭勞苦地巡查工地的每一個角落，監�工人施工，以維

持高度的安�水平。

冼惠強堅定地說：「你必須要時刻留意工友及他們每一個施工細節，確保

事事安�。我不想有任何遺漏，導致工友受傷。」他持守金門的安�核心價

值，同時明白經驗豐富與新入職同事抗拒遵從安�規則的背後原因。他說：

「革新初期難免會遇上一些阻力，但假以時日和心力，必定可以克服困難。」

冼惠強對栽培工友充滿熱誠，他經常向團隊強調五項原則：用心工作、

三思而後行、學習良好的作業模式、細心檢查和監控。他指出：「進行任何工

程前務必訂定施工方案，這對確保安�和工作效率非常重要。我作為團隊的

領導，只有在清楚掌握每一個工序都安�地進行時，才可以安心。」

對冼惠強而言，工友完成一天的工作後一句簡單的問候最令他感到欣

慰，因為這時候他知道，工友都安�回家休息了。1

Influence with Mission and PassionHe makes a joke about his skin colour, “I am from Africa.” Embracing the mission of creating a safe working environment for the workers, Benson tirelessly walks around the site and supervises work to maintain safety standards.

“You must keep an eye on the workers and every detail to make sure everything is safe. I don’t want to miss anything that could cause harm to our people,” Benson says, with determination. He strongly upholds the Company’s core safety values, but he also understands why experienced workers or newcomers may be reluctant to follow the safety rules and regulations. “Yes, you will experience some hardships with the changes at the very beginning, but you can accomplish it, with time and effort.”

With his passion to nurture his fellow workers, Benson always emphasises his five philosophies to his team: work with all your heart, think before you act, learn the goods, check, and control. He cites an example: “Prior to the commencement of any work, a method statement is crucial to ensure safety and effectiveness. As a leader, as long as you know everything is being done safely, you feel less worried as a leader”.

The greatest sources of contentment for Benson are the simple warm greetings from the workers, and knowing that everyone is going home safe.

“I don’t want to miss anything that could cause harm to our people.”

The annual Gammon Safety Conference is an invaluable forum for dialogue and exchanging ideas, both within the Company and with the construction industry. The ultimate goal of the Conference is to take our safety performance even higher.

This year’s Safety Conference was held in February, with discussions and presentations centred on the theme of “Challenge Trade Practices”. More than 800 Gammon colleagues, senior Government officials, clients, business partners and subcontractors attended the event. Notable guests included Hon Chi Keung, the former Director of Civil Engineering and Delevlopment, Chow Tang Fai, Chief Operating Officer of CLP Power Hong Kong and Professor Leung Ping Chung, Institute of Chinese Medicine of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. They provided useful perspectives that imprinted the safety culture to the audiences’ minds.

The Conference explored, from diverse points of view, strategies of resolving issues of working at height, engineering for safety, work health and safety, green and caring as well as cordless practice. A demonstration of Baduanjin Qigong by the Hong Kong Occupational Therapy Association also gave substance to the Conference.

Thanks to everyone’s commitment, the Conference was a success and shall serve as a catalyst to fulfil our Zero Harm vision.

Safety Conference 2015: Challenge Trade Practices週年安�會議2015：承傳統，新思維

一年一度的安�會議是金門與業界聚首一堂，討論安�表現及

交流意見的寶貴平台，藉此強化工作安�。

今年的安�會議在2月舉行，圍繞《承傳統，新思維》的主

題進行分享，超過800位金門同事、政府高級官員、客戶、業

務夥伴和分判商共同參與。會議更邀得前土木工程拓展署署長

韓志強、中華電力有限公司營運總裁周騰輝，及香港中文大學

中醫中藥研究所梁秉中教授為演講嘉賓，就安�文化提供寶貴

的見解。

會議從多角度探索不同的議題，包括高空工作、安�工程

設計、工作安�與健康、環保與關愛，及無線工序之實施等，

香港職業治療學會的代表更在場示範健身氣功八段錦，令會議

內容更加豐富和實用。

謹此感謝各界的支持和參與，令會議得以圓滿成功，更進

一步推動金門邁向「零傷害」的目標。1

Qigong Display Competition氣功「八段錦」演練比賽As a result of the overwhelmingly positive response to last year’s group Qigong display, this year’s CSW kicked off with a Qigong competition at the Golden Bauhinia Square. A key goal of the competition is to encourage exercise at the morning assembly on construction sites and thus to enhance the health of frontline workers. Two teams from Gammon won the 2nd and 3rd prizes. 去年的集體氣功演練得到非常正面的迴響，今年大會再接再厲，在金紫荊廣場

舉行「建造業安�周」開幕典禮暨氣功「八段錦」演練比賽，目的是鼓勵業界每天

開工前在工地進行早操，從而促進前線工友的健康。金門兩支參賽隊伍分別奪

得比賽的第二及第三名。

Construction Safety Week建造業安�周Construction Safety Week (CSW), the industry-wide safety promotion campaign, has gone from strength to strength since it was first held in 2012. CSW is organised by the Development Bureau (DEVB) and the

Construction Industry Council (CIC) together with industry support. The main theme for Construction Safety Week 2015 was to foster the initiatives and measures introduced in previous years’ events.

Since 2006, Gammon has been recognised as a Caring Company by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, for wide-ranging contributions to the community. The award is a tribute to the unflagging efforts of our staff, and also to partnerships with many organisations, including Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, Baptist Oi Kwan Social Service, Haven of Hope Christian Service, Hong Chi Association and Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council Limited.

Spreading Holiday Cheer to Hong Kong’s Elderly寒冬送暖義工探訪

Christmas is a special time of the year to spend with one’s family and friends. This past December 13, volunteers from Gammon visited elderly living alone at Oi Tung Estate in Shau Kei Wan to spread some holiday cheer.

In addition to presenting Christmas gifts, the volunteers spent time chatting with these senior residents. The most satisfying part of the visit? Without a doubt, it was seeing the smiles of our new friends.

聖誕節是與家人和朋友歡度的溫馨節日。多位金門義工特意在去年12月13日探訪筲箕

灣愛東�的獨居長者，送上快樂的聖誕。

在活動中，金門義工送上聖誕禮物，更與長者暢談甚歡。看見老友們燦爛的笑

容，就是這次活動的最佳回報。1

The Art of Giving施·藝

Volunteers at Pristine, our steel fabrication yard in Dongguan, happily gathered together to sell traditional Wando baskets and other traditional crafts at an event organised by the Shatian Women's Federation in Dongguan on March 14. As well as raising money for underprivileged children and single mothers, their contribution helps preserve the heritage art of Wando grass weaving.

婦聯主辦的慈善活動，義賣傳統莞草編織而成的草籃和其他手工藝

Fun in the Sun at Beach 5s樂在陽光與海灘

The Hong Kong Beach 5s, Asia's biggest beach festival, was a roaring success. Gammon was glad to render support to the event by sponsorship. Exciting team sports, interesting booths, and a great atmosphere gave everyone a day to remember. Our volunteers ensured the event went without a hitch. Workers from MTRC 704 project created a nice venue, with quality sand for sports and fun, by cleaning up the Repulse Bay beach area. During the March 21-22 event, Gammon's teams gave a fine performance in the rugby and football competitions.

「香港沙灘五人欖球賽」是亞洲最具規模的沙灘盛事之一，金門很高興成為今

年大會的贊助機構，賽事亦在熱烈的吶喊和掌聲中圓滿舉行。緊張刺激的隊

際賽、精緻有趣的攤位和歡樂的氣氛，讓每一位參加者和健兒都樂而忘返。

由港鐵西港島�704項目工友組成的義工隊為這盛事作最佳準備，他們協助清

理淺水灣比賽場地一帶，務求提升沙地的質素，讓賽事和各項目順利舉行。

在3月21至22日一連兩天的活動中，金門隊在欖球和足球比賽中的精彩表現，

充分展現了金門的實力和團隊合作精神！1

The Joy of Victory 勝利的喜悅

Gammon athletes thrilled the audience at the Construction Industry Sports Day cum Charity Fun Day, winning an impressive three Champion medals, four Silver, and five Bronze medals. Our relay runners put in a strong performance, showing great teamwork. Topping off the team's fine performance, Rain Lam Sze Wing, was Overall Champion in the Female class – Gammon's first ever win in this category. The event was held at Kowloon Bay Sports Ground on 12 April.

同樂日」，金門的運動健將勇奪三面金牌、四面銀牌和五面銅牌，贏得現場觀

眾的熱烈掌聲。接力賽的健兒表現尤其突出，充分展現金門的團隊精神。健

兒林思穎奪得女子組別總冠軍殊榮，刷新金門在此組別的紀錄，如此佳績，

49 Floors in Under 4 Minutes飛躍49It’s an impressive result – 49 floors in 3 min 49 sec and winning the 1st Runner up!

Our Gammon team participated in the mixed relay of the Walk Up Jardine House 2015, one of the best known fund raising events organised by MINDSET. The event broke records by raising over HK$4 million to support people suffering from mental illness. Hundreds of Jardines’ staff, business associates, families and friends competed to race 49 floors up Jardine House. Among the 23 teams, Gammon’s team, including Andy Wong, Shiu Chung Yin, Parker Ieong, Paulo Yue and Hilda Lee, stayed on top of the challenge and succeeded again in the event, winning the 1st runner-up for the third time.

Gammon steadfastly supported the benevolent cause by acting as one of the sponsors of the event.

Joyous Encounter of the Past and the Present 與前輩歡聚一堂

“People usually have a perception that the requirement of safety at the 60-70s is actually looser. However, we had remained very vigilant at our work as we believe safety is vital, as much as the smart implementation of machinery,” A 81-year-old former employee Wong Kam Kan (KK) recalled his experience in Gammon, enthusiastically sharing stories with Edmond Lai, Director, Human Resources and Au Kam Chuen, Site Administration Manager and other staff. Another elder named Yu Lei King smiled and continued, “Gammon is a nice company to stay with.”

The surprising encounter happened when the Tuen Mun – Chek Lap Kok Link – Southern Connection Viaduct Section project team paid a visit to Po Leung Kuk Tung Chung Home for the Elderly on 7 March. The volunteers had built a strong rapport with the elders, through the conversation, they found out two of the participants were actually former Gammon employees who both had happy memories in Gammon.

Enjoying the companion of the current staff, KK mentioned,“When I was a crane operator, I took my pen and notebook to write down every detail. You need to learn with all senses.” Talking about employee relationship, the elder also had his insights, “the management needs to be actively engaging themselves with the

young generation, to win the hearts of the employees.”

When asked if they love people paying volunteering visit to them, both elders responded with a big yes without hesitation. “We appreciate people spending time and resources to visit us. After all, we are very pleased about it and welcome the next meet-up.”

屯門至赤�角連接路 – 南面連接路高架道路段

的項目團隊組成了一支義工隊，在3月7日探訪保良

局東涌護老院，增加彼此的聯繫，言談間發現其中

兩位長者是金門的前僱員，兩位前輩均對金門留下

美好的回憶。

王金根非常高興金門員工到訪，他說：「我在金

門任職起重機操作員時，經常把所有的細節記錄在

筆記簿內，細心觀察，時刻學習新鮮事物。」談及僱

員關係時，王金根亦有自己的洞見：「管理層應主動

與新一代加強聯繫，爭取員工的信任。」

問他們是否喜歡義工到訪時，兩位前輩都異口

同聲表示欣喜：「感謝義工們用自己寶貴的時間和

資源探訪我們，我們非常高興，並期待再次與你們

見面。」1

Taking Steps for Safety展闊步 • 為安�

Fifty Gammon staff and their families made great strides to promote occupational safety on March 29, joining a Walkathon from Tsim Sha Tsui to Hung Hom. The Walkathon was held by The Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions Occupational Safety and Health Association. The objective is to raise funds that will assist injured workers, and promote occupational safety and health.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) contract called for the design and build of a single steel framed workshop within the existing MRT Bishan Depot including demolition,

foundation piling, mechanical and electrical services, rail tracks re-alignment and all associated external works. To make it a success, excellent team work, comprehensive planning and mindful implementation is the key.

Confronted with the numerous safety challenges, the team demonstrated its commitment to ensure safety on site. To reduce the risk of falling from height, the team adopted three layers of safety protections before allowing workers access to the roof for installation. The first layer incorporated ausmesh, which is able to take 250kg/m2 loading, in permanent roof work and through the boom lift to the entire roof prior to other roof installation works. The second layer included the perimeter barricade with PE design while life line was the final layer to prevent falling from height incident.

Besides, heavy lifting was another paramount concern, during the removal of existing 300mm thick RC slab, machine saw cutting method and precast slab installation were successfully executed to reinforce safety performance.

Bishan Workshop:Keeping Singapore On Track

unauthorised entry to fatal zones, avoiding the common problem of fatal zone barricades being left open due to failure of the built in locks.

From the beginning of the project in August 2013, the project achieved 250,000 safe man-hours. The project team attributed this impressive safety record to good planning, a concept of safety by design, instilling a good safety culture on site, close monitoring and timely action.

Apart from the excellent safety records, the project showed its determination in environmental protection and was recognised in the Gammon Green and Caring Scheme, winning a “Green Flag”.

At the conclusion of the project, the LTA praised the team for its effective delivery of quality services in the midst of a demanding programme while maintaining an impressive safety record. Further endorsement came with the award of the Building & Construction Authority’s (BCA) Green and Gracious Builder Certificate, in the highest “Star” category, which is a remarkable achievement for the contractors in the local industry.

的外部工程。要順利完成項目，卓越的團

隊合作、周詳的計劃和精益求精的施工態度至為重要。

面對種種挑戰，項目團隊展示了堅決的承諾，致力

推動工地的安�表現。為剔除從高處墮下的風險，團隊

讓工人到頂部進行安裝工程前，採用了三重安�保護措

施。第一重保護，是在永久的上蓋加設一層每平方米可

負重250公斤的網格，團隊用吊臂把網格運到頂部，覆

蓋整個上蓋，然後才進行其他頂部安裝工程；第二重保

護，是加設專業工程師設計的圍欄；救生索則是最後一

重保護，以預防工人從高空墮下的事故。此外，起吊工

作亦是另一項關鍵的安�考慮，清除厚達300毫米的鋼

筋混凝土板時，項目團隊成功採用機械切割方法，並安

裝預製板，以確保安�。

項目團隊實施了一項創新的安�概念：致命地帶圍

欄繩結。現時金門的其他工程亦有推行這創新意念。圍

欄的預設鎖扣破爛情況屢見不鮮，經常無法有效地封鎖

致命地帶，這圍欄繩結概念可減少未經許可的人士進入

致命地帶。

項目在2013年8月動工，至今已成功達致25萬安�

工時，項目團隊表示，得此驕人的安�紀錄�賴周詳的

計劃、從設計項目開始已融入安�概念、在工地灌輸優

良的安�文化、緊密的監�和適時的措施。

除了卓越的安�表現，項目亦在保護環境方面不遺

餘力，並奪得金門「環保與關愛承諾」計劃的「環保與關

愛旗幟」。

項目順利完成，新加坡陸路交通管理局讚揚團隊，

面對重大的工程壓力，仍能有效地提供優質的工程服

務，同時維持驕人的安�紀錄。另外，項目更奪得新加

坡建設局「環保與優雅建築商獎」的最高星級組別證書，

這是對當地承建商一項卓越成就的讚譽。1

Young Professionals’ Study Tour to South Korea青年專業團隊赴韓考察Joining the 2014 Gammon YPG Korea Study tour has been a valuable experience. We enjoyed a fruitful five day trip with a wide variety of site visits, including visits to foundation, civil, building and plant factory. We were totally impressed by the fruitful tour which inspired us to apply good practices in Korea to the Hong Kong’s construction sites.

The foundation site in Korea executes excellent housekeeping, coupled with its high construction productivity. It is definitely a benchmark for us to achieve betterment in Hong Kong. The site was promptly covered with concrete slab once the contractor takes over the site from the client. Instead of a muddy surface, this strategy gave a strong boost to the project programme by providing a smooth working platform for the movement of plant. It also effectively reduced dust at the site. At a later stage, the concrete slab would be recycled and used for the construction of road.

In Korea, the practices of building industry differ from Hong Kong. The developer is usually the main contractor, all residential apartments are in sale prior to the commencement of the project, as such the commercial element doesn’t play a critical part to the

operation of the project. Compared to the complex

residential buildings in Hong Kong, those in Korea uphold simpler style with units standardised. Only paint is applied to the exterior of the buildings. Hence, the approaches enable easier project management. System scaffolding is implemented. It is erected by the tower crane and usually covers four floors. The highest level is for the erection of formwork, while the second level formwork removal. The third level serves the purpose of concrete touch up; the forth level is useful for applying waterproofing. In contrast to the full height external scaffolding applied in Hong Kong, the system scaffolding requires less cost though it is not applicable to all site scenarios.

All in all, the trip was proven to be an eye-opener. It has empowered our technical know-how and pushed us to exceed our boundaries.

括地基、土木工程、樓宇建築和機械工

場，令我們留下深刻印象，同時亦啟發我

們學習當地的優良作業措施。

韓國的地基工地有良好的工作環境，

配合高度的建造生產力，絕對可以成為

我們的作業基準，從而提升我們在香港

的運作水平。承建商在接管工地後，會

立即把工地蓋上混凝土板。蓋上混凝土

板使泥濘的工地成為一個平整的工作平

台，方便機械和設備在平台上運作，亦

能有效減少工地的塵埃，大大提升項目

的進度。完成項目後，他們會把混凝土

板循環再用，用於其他路面建築工程。

韓國建造業的運作與香港的業界大不

相同。通常韓國的發展商亦是當地的主

要承建商，他們展開住宅建築項目前已

預售所有單位，所以資金並不會對項目

的施工運作構成重大影響。

與香港複雜的住宅樓宇比較，韓國

的住宅崇尚簡單的風格及標準化單位設

計，只會在樓宇的外牆塗上不同的油

漆，這做法令項目管理更為方便。此

外，他們利用塔式起重機架設外牆棚架

系統，一般會覆蓋四層樓宇，最高一層

架設模板，第二層拆卸模板，第三層修

繕混凝土，第四層則方便進行防水工

程。相對香港完�以棚架覆蓋建築物的

外牆，韓國使用鷹棚架系統的確可降低

建築成本，然而，未必能配合所有建築

工地的實際情況。

總括而言，這考察團讓我們大開眼

界，不但豐富了我們的技術知識，更推

動我們要進一步突破自己的界限。1
