Two Handed Forehand!

HEALTHY HERNANI STARS This intitiative has certainly been appreciated by our students. Throughout Term 2 all students enjoyed the opportunity to cook a healthy nutritious lunch with our parent volunteers Amanda, Casey, Lisa and Sally. Thank you to our mums for organising this for students. It was confirmed out our last P & C Meeting that the fee for our cooking program would be $3.00 per student/per cooking day. The chance to learn about cooking provides wonderful learning opportunities, including real life maths and reading experiences.

REQUEST FOR EQUIPMENT FOR STUDENTS Our school has traditionally supplied all items required for daily lessons. Unfortunately this year some students have not demonstrated appropriate respect for and care of school equipment. As such we are requesting that parents please ensure that your child has the following items in their own labelled pencil case for their use on a daily basis in class:

• Colouring in pencils • HB pencils Please Note: Kindergarten students benefit from having triangular grip pencils. • An eraser • A sharpener • Students in Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 will also require

red, black and blue pens and a 30cm ruler.

• Library Bags: All students are requested to bring to school each Friday a bag to look after their Library books. Some books are being returned in an inappropriate state and we ask for parental assistance in helping care for our valuable resources. Thank you.

• Students all need labelled Water Bottles for daily use at school.

• Can all students please bring warm clothing to school during Term 3, even if it is a warm start to the day when you leave home?

FRESH for KiDS 6/08/18 to 21/09/18

The ‘Eat Fresh & Win’ canteen campaign promotes fruit and vegetables and offers each student the opportunity to be rewarded with stickers (to add to a tally sheet) by bringing ‘healthy’ fruit and/or vegetables for our daily crunch and sip break. When the students tally sheet is filled thay are able to choose a ‘fruity’ keyring to attach to their school bag, lunch bag etc. INCLOSED LANDS Please be aware of the following information as we have had visitors to our grounds who have not followed this procedure. Thank you. School grounds are not public reserves or playgrounds. Use of school grounds, at all times, requires the explicit permission of the Principal or delegate. BOOK WEEK 2018- “Find your Treasure!” Monday 20th August to Friday 24th August To celebrate this special event Hernani Public School will be holding a ‘Book Fair’ in the Hernani Public School Library. Students will have the opportunity to look at the display of books on Monday and Tuesday during the lunch break and after school with parental attendance. Parents and community members are invited to join us for our Book Week ‘Book Character Dress Up’ assembly on Friday 24th at 9:00am. Mr Kovacevic has provided the following information to assist students and parents to prepare for this event: For Book Week this year you are able to do one of the following things:

• Choose a book character and dress up as that character. OR

• Choose an author and dress up as that author.

* You have to tell us about the character, who they are, what they do, what they are like and why you chose that particular character. OR * Choose a part of the story to read to the class to tell us something about the character and tell us why you chose that character. * If you chose an author you have to tell or read to us some interesting facts about them including books they have written and why you chose them.

Have FUN!
