Anna Rees – Wales Fund Manager
Who are we? TWF was established by our founding Trustees,
Heather and David Stevens in 2007 and named after the London district where they first met.
Based in Llandaff, Cardiff, TWF is a philanthropic, independent grant making Foundation.
To that end, our main four funded programmes are:
World Development Fund
EducationWater, Sanitation,
Hygiene Enterprise
Development
World Environment Fund
Tropical Forests
Marine
Child Development Fund
Research into neuro -developmental conditions
Wales Fund Working Wales
• Support for organisations facilitating
people into paid employment
• Can be self employment (enterprise start-up
support) or working for others (projects
addressing barriers to work)
Wales Fund CARING WALES
• Carer-centred services
• Support projects and services for young carers
• Organisations working specifically to support
carers through advocacy, advice and respite.
Wales Fund Community Energy
in Wales
• Support for feasibility studies and other early stage assistance
e.g. technical studies etc.
• Assistance towards the implementation or community
energy initiatives.
• Average grants are between £5 - £10k

Application Process
• Please visit our website in the first instance www.waterloofoundation.org.uk to check the eligibility of your project and for details on how to make an application
• Send your application with all the details requested on the applications page to us via email (address on the website)
• New projects are assigned approximately every 8 weeks. Please be patient as you are unlikely to hear from us during this time.
• If we assign your project, we will be in touch to let you know that we are taking your proposal forward for further research.
• If your project is not successful at assignment stage we will be in touch to let you know.
• The time it takes to make a decision on your proposal varies depending on the level of research required, but the earliest you will get a decision after assignment is 8 weeks. We aim to keep you informed as much as possible during this time.
Example of a strong proposalApplication details should include:
your charity’s name, address and charity number
email, phone and name of a person to reply to
the programme under which you are applying
how it meets the specific interests/criteria of the programme you are applying under
a link to your website
what it's for
who it benefits and how many
evidence of the success of previous projects
how much you want and when
Your proposal should: demonstrate strong links with other projects,
interventions, organisations and services.
proactively monitor and evaluate their work to improve services and demonstrate impact
promote participation of service users in shaping services.
Offer value for money (“more bang for your buck”)
