1 General safety information

The door control is intended for a power-operated door with drive unit.

Safe operation is only guaranteed with specified normal use. No liability for damage by other

applications or non-observance of the instructions.

Modifications are only permitted with the agreement of the manufacturer. Otherwise it will

void the manufacturer's declaration.

Safety information

Installation and initial start-up by skilled personnel only.

Only electricians may work on the electrical electrical equipment. They must assess the work

given to them, recognise potential danger zones and be able to take appropriate safety

measures.

Only carry out installation work when the supply has been switched off.

Observe the applicable regulations and standards.

Coverings and protective devices

Only operate with associated coverings and protective devices.

Ensure correct seating of gaskets and correctly tightened screw couplings.

Disconnect the cables and check that they are de-energised

Observe the applicable regulations and standards

Make a proper electrical connection

Use suitable tools

On-site backup fuse and disconnector unit!

Only use all current sensitive earth leakage circuit breakers type B for FU-drives

Connection to the indoor installation via all-pole disconnector unit ≥ 10 A as per

EN 12453 (e.g. CEE plug connector, main switch)

▶ Dismantle coverings. ▶ Open cable entry ① or ②.

▶ Insert and connect control – drive unit connection cable in the open cable entry ① (from

below) or ② (from above).

▶ Tighten cable gland.

9 Safety devices

X2: Door safety switch input

The door safety switch is installed on the door and connected to the door control via the curly

cable.

The magnetic contacts in the switch are switched by a permanent magnet. The door control

assesses the switching status of the contacts independently of each other.

Crash switch as NC or NO contact

The crash switch is used to register a door curtain standing outside of the guide.

If the switching contact is activated, there is a stop and fault indication "F4.5" appears.

After the reset of the switching contact, there is a changeover to the "hold-to-run" door

operating mode. Door movement is only possible via the door control keypad in frequency

inverter operation at crawling speed.

Reset fault indication "F4.5" by activation the stop button of the door control for more than 3

seconds or by switching the mains voltage off and on.

X2: Safety edge system input

The door control automatically detects three different safety edge systems.

Important!

Heed EN 12978 when connecting safety edge systems!

1K2 resistor evaluation

This safety device is intended for a pneumatic switch with NO contact in series with a

terminating resistor of 1K2, +/-5 %, 0.25 W. If activated, pressure is generated in the profile

which activates the pneumatic switch.

The safety edge system must be tested in the CLOSE limit position. The "Safety edge

system pre-limit" door position is used for the testing. If the door travels over the pre-limit

position during the closing operation, a time measurement of 2 seconds commences. Within

the time measurement, pressure must be generated by placing the safety edge system on

the ground. If the pneumatic switch does not activate, the testing has failed and fault

indication "F2.8" appears.

If there is a short-circuit in the safety edge system, fault indication "F2.7" appears.

Upon activation of the safety edge system, or permanent disconnection of the current circuit,

fault indication "F2.6" appears

In all cases, closing of the door is only possible in the "hold-to-run" door operating mode.

8K2 resistor evaluation

This safety device is intended for an electrical safety edge system with a terminating resistor

of 8k2, +/- 5 % and 0.25 W.

If activated, there is a short-circuit in the current circuit and fault indication "F2.4" appears.

If the current circuit is interrupted, fault indication "F2.5" appears.

Optical safety edge system

The functional principle is based on a through photo cell. The light beam is interrupted by an

activation.

If activated or a defective safety edge system, fault indication "F2.9" appears.

Installation of the curly cable

Entry of the curly cable on the right or left housing side of the door control. The curly cable

must be fixed with a cable gland. Connection of the safety edge system via the 3-pin plug,

connection of the slack-rope/pass door via the 2-pin plug.

Important!

At a door opening width > 5 cm, reversing must occur after activation of the

X6: "One-way/reflection photo cell" or light curtain input

Photo cell

A photo cell is used for presence detection It is only active in door operating mode "3" and

"4", in the OPEN limit position or during the closing operation.

If the photo cell is disabled, fault indication "F2.1" appears.

Light curtain

The light curtain must be self-testing and correspond at least to safety category 2. If the light

curtain corresponds to these requirements, the door can close into self-hold without safety

edge system.

Important!

▶ Operation without safety edge system, connect 8K2 resistor via terminals X2/3

and X2/3

▶ Photo cells must not be used via the UBS system

▶ Do not use program "3.2" for the light curtain

To test the light curtain, activate relay contact X20 or X21. Description of the relay functions

under program "2.7" or "2.8".

If the photo cell is disabled, fault indication "F4.6" appears.

Testing is carried out at each CLOSE command, the contact of the light curtain must switch

off within 100 ms. If the test is positive, the contact must switch back on within 300 ms. If the

test fails, fault indication "F4.7" appears.

After exiting the programming, the door must carry out a complete opening and closing

operation in self-hold.

The force monitoring is a self-learning system which is effective from a opening width of 5 cm

to approx. 2 m. Slow progressive changes, e.g. reduction of the spring torsion, are

compensated automatically.

If force monitoring is released, only the "hold-to-run" door operating mode is possible and

fault indication "F4.1" is displayed. Reset occurs with reaching a door final position

Program "3.3":

The set run time is automatically compared with the time measured between the limit

positions. If the run time is exceeded, fault indication "F5.6" appears.

The UBS system is a simple pluggable connection technology of GfA. The control devices

Reversing time shortening is used to reduce the operating power. Reversing time extension

Maintenance cycle counter

Program "8.5":

A maintenance cycle can be set between "0" and "99,000" cycles, the adjustment is made in

steps of one thousand.

The maintenance cycle counter reduces by one each time the Open limit position is reached.

If the maintenance cycle has reached zero, a specific function is carried out. Various

functions after reaching the preselected maintenance cycle can be set in program "8.6".

Short-circuit/overload display

If there is a short-circuit or an overload of the 24 V DC supply voltage, the red point between

the two 7-digit displays goes out.

If the display is completely dark, check fuse F1.

Display for active "WSD" wireless safety device

If the "WSD" wireless safety device is active, a red point is displayed on the right digit display.

Standby function

Provided there is no fault or command pending, the control switches the display to "Standby".

Standby is active if the automatic closing is greater than 60 seconds.

Only the middle point, or with active "WSD" both points, is/are displayed.

form a completed machine pursuant to the Directive. This product must therefore only be put into

operation when it has been determined that the complete machine/system in which it has been

installed complies with the provisions of the above-mentioned directives.
