Body Size Many people in North America are overweight, and body size is a sensitivetopic. People (especially women) do not like to tell their weight. There are many adjectives to describe body size, with different connotations.Fat is considered rude, because it’s too direct. A person would say, “My dog is fat,” but not “ My mother is fat.” Heavy is considered more polite. Obese ( 超重)is a medical term. Clothing stores for overweight people are usually labeled withPleasant-sounding terms like plus-size for women, or big and tall for men. There are also several adjectives for underweight people: Thin is a neutral,( 中性)Descriptive word for both sexes. Who are those people? Are they Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, or Lady Gaga? Absolutely not. They are the impersonators of those people. They actually sing and play instruments like their famous “twins” and perform in concerts. Hundreds of singers are doubles of Elvis Presley.
