プ)に入行し、2001年よりスタンフォード大学ビジネススクールに留学。その

後米大手ベンチャーキャピタルの DCM本社パートナーとして、シリコンバ

レーで勤務。10年間に渡り、ITベンチャーの投資育成を手がける。2013年に日本の大企業と日米

ベンチャーの橋渡しを行うことでオープンイノベーションを実現する組織WiLを創業。日米を拠点に

活動しており、日本が起業大国になることを夢見ている。日経デジタルや東洋経済オンラインでコラ

ムを執筆中。著書に『シリコンバレー流世界最先端の働き方』（ＫＡＤＯＫＡＷＡ中経出版）がある。

Gen Isayama is the co-founder and CEO of WiL, LLC (World Innovation Lab), an organization dedicated to accelerating and promoting open innovation in large corporations across Japan. Funded by enterprises from various industries, WiL provides investment capital and strategic guidance to Japanese startups entering the global market as well as overseas ventures entering the Japanese market. In addition, WiL incubates new businesses by leveraging unused IP and resources in large corporations, facilitating innovation and entrepreneurship. Born and raised in Tokyo, Gen joined The Industrial Bank of Japan, Limited (now Mizuho Financial Group) after graduating from Tokyo University and moved to Silicon Valley in 2001 to attend Stanford Business School. After graduation, Gen joined DCM Ventures, one of the top-tier Silicon Valley venture capital firms, and worked as a partner until the summer of 2013.

1973年一橋大学経済学部卒業。同大学院経済学研究科修士課程を経て、1979年ハーバ

ード大学経済学博士課程修了（PhD）。ミネソタ大学経済学部助教授、同准教授、一橋大学

経済研究所助教授、同教授、東京大学先端科学技術研究センター教授を経て、2004年東京

大学大学院経済学研究科、兼、公共政策大学院教授（2012年同院長）に就任、2014年 4月政

策研究大学院大学教授、兼、東京大学公共政策大学院特任教授を経て、2015年 1月より現

職。その間、1992-94年ハーバード大学ケネディー行政大学院客員教授、1994-97年国際通

貨基金（IMF）調査局上級審議役、1999-2001年大蔵省副財務官、2006年 10月-2008年 10

月、経済財政諮問会議の民間議員、2009年秋学期コロンビア大学ビジネススクール客員教

授を務めた。

著書には、『不均衡の経済分析－理論と実証－』（東洋経済新報社、1985年、第 29回日経

Takatoshi Ito, professor at the School of International and Public Affairs and associate director of research at the Center on Japanese Economy and Business at Columbia University, has taught extensively both in the United States and Japan since finishing his PhD in economics at Harvard University in 1979. He taught as assistant and tenured associate professor (1979-88) at the University of Minnesota, as associate and full professor at Hitotsubashi University (1988-2002), as professor at the Graduate School of Economics of The University of Tokyo (2004-2014) before assuming his current position in 2014. He held visiting professor positions at Harvard University, Stanford University, and Columbia Business School, and was the Tun Ismail Ali Chair Professor at the University of Malaya. He has held distinguished academic and research appointments such as president of the Japanese Economic Association in 2004, fellow of the Econometric Society, since 1992, research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research since 1985, and faculty fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research since 2006. He was editor-in-chief of the Journal of the Japanese and International Economies, and is coeditor of the Asian Economic Policy Review. In an unusual move for a Japanese academic, Ito was also appointed in the official sector, as senior advisor in the Research Department at the International Monetary Fund (1994-97) and as deputy vice minister for International Affairs at the Ministry of Finance of Japan (1999-2001). He also served as a member of the Prime Minister’s Council on Economic and Fiscal Policy (2006-2008). In 2010, Ito was a coauthor of a commissioned study of the Bank of Thailand’s 10th-year review of inflation targeting regime. He contributes frequently op-ed columns and articles to the Financial Times and Nihon Keizai Shinbun. He is an author of many books including The Japanese Economy (MIT Press, 1992), The Political Economy of the Japanese Monetary Policy (1997) and Financial Policy and Central Banking in Japan (2000) (both with T. Cargill and M. Hutchison, MIT Press), An Independent and Accountable IMF (with J. De Gregorio, B. Eichengreen, and C. Wyplosz, 1999), and more than 130 academic (refereed) journal articles, including Econometrica, American Economic Review, and Journal of Monetary Economics, and chapters in books on international finance, monetary policy, and the Japanese economy. His research interests include capital flows and currency crises, microstructures of the foreign exchange rates, and inflation targeting. He was awarded the National Medal with Purple Ribbon in June 2011 for his excellent academic achievements.

2006年まで、リーマン・ブラザーズにてマネージング・ディレクターとしてグ

ローバル株式市場調査の運営管理を担当。現在、コロンビア大学国際公共政策大学院において非

常勤准教授を務め、米国を拠点とする最大規模のマクロヘッジファンドにてコンサルタント業務に従

事。

リーマン・ブラザーズ入社前には東京で 15年間を過ごし、その間、一流の金融セクター・アナリスト

でありながら、3度の企業合併を通じて、日興ソロモン･スミス・バーニーの調査部門ディレクターとし

て調査部門のマネージメントに携わった。現在は、モーリーン＆マイク・マンスフィールド財団理事会

の一員であり、インナーシティの若者を対象にした支援プログラムを提供し、昨今東京にも拠点を立

ち上げた非営利団体 All Stars Projectの役員でもある。コロンビア大学バーナード・カレッジ卒業、コ

ロンビア大学国際公共政策大学院にて修士課程修了、現在非常勤准教授として同大学院にて教鞭

を執る。

Alicia Ogawa is senior advisor at the Center on Japanese Economy and Business at Columbia Business School, and a consultant to one of the largest U.S.-based macro hedge funds in the U.S. Until 2006 she was managing director at Lehman Brothers, where she was responsible for managing the firm’s global equity research. She is also an adjunct associate professor at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. Prior to joining Lehman Brothers, Professor Ogawa spent 15 years in Tokyo, where she was a top-rated bank analyst and director of research for Nikko Salomon Smith Barney, having managed the original Salomon Brothers Research Department through three mergers. She is a member of the board of directors of the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation and is a member of the President’s Circle of the All Stars Project, a development program for inner city young people, which has just been launched in Tokyo. She graduated from Barnard College and earned a master’s degree in international affairs at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.

2005年ケンブリッジ大学経営大学院（英国）にて博士課程修了。博士論

文は外国資本及び支配による日本企業への影響について執筆。2013

年までケンブリッジ大学経営大学院シニア・フェローを務め、2010年から 2013年まで東京大学先端

科学技術研究センター特任教授を兼任。現在は慶応義塾大学商学部・商学研究科特別招聘教授を

務める。

オックスフォード大学にて政治学、哲学及び経済学の学士号を取得後、キャセイパシフィック航空会

社本社（香港）及び東京支社にて 5年間勤務。フランスの欧州経営大学院（INSEAD）にて MBA取

得後、英国投資銀行 SGウォーバーグ（現 UBS）にて 15年間勤務。その間 10年は東京支社にて

勤務し、3年は UBS機関投資家向け資産運用部門の UBS アセットマネジメント社（日本）の社長を

務めた。2001年ケンブリッジ大学経営大学院進学の為、UBSを退社。

2008年日本板硝子株式会社、2010年には損保ジャパン日本興亜ホールディングスに於いて社外

取締役に就任。2014年には両社社外取締役を退任し、現在は株式会社デンソー及び日立化成株

式会社にて社外取締役を務める。他にも多数の日本主要企業にて顧問を兼任。

Dr. Olcott is guest professor at the Faculty of Commerce at Keio University. He completed his PhD dissertation on the impact of foreign ownership and control on Japanese organizations at the Judge Business School of the University of Cambridge in 2005. He was senior fellow at the Judge Business School until 2013 and project professor at the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology at the University of Tokyo between 2010 and 2013. After graduating from the University of Oxford with a degree in politics, philosophy and economics, he spent five years in Hong Kong and Japan working for Cathay Pacific Airways. After completing his MBA at INSEAD in France, he joined the UK merchant bank SG Warburg (now UBS Investment Bank). He spent fifteen years at Warburg, ten of which were in Tokyo. He also spent three years as CEO of UBS’s institutional asset management division in Japan. He left the bank in 2001 to commence his studies at Cambridge. He joined the board of Nippon Sheet Glass in 2008 and the board of NKSJ Holdings in 2010. He retired from both boards in 2014 and is currently a board member of Denso Corporation and Hitachi Chemical. He also serves as an advisor to a number of leading Japanese companies. In addition to contributions to leading academic journals and newspapers, he wrote Conflict and Change: Foreign Ownership and the Japanese Firm, published by Cambridge University Press in 2009, with a Japanese version, Gaishi ga Kaeru Nihonteki Keiei, published by the Nihon Keizai Shimbun in July 2010.

Professor Bruce C. N. Greenwald holds the Robert Heilbrunn Professorship of Finance and Asset Management at Columbia Business School and is the academic director of the Heilbrunn Center for Graham & Dodd Investing. Described by the New York Times as "a guru to Wall Street's gurus," Greenwald is an authority on value investing with additional expertise in productivity and the economics of information. Greenwald has been recognized for his outstanding teaching abilities. He has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the Columbia University Presidential Teaching Award which honors the best of Columbia's teachers for maintaining the University's longstanding reputation for educational excellence. His classes are consistently oversubscribed, with more than 650 students taking his courses every year in subjects such as Value Investing, Economics of Strategic Behavior, Globalization of Markets, and Strategic Management of Media. Since 2007, Greenwald has served as director of research and currently senior advisor for First Eagle Funds, a division of Arnhold and S. Bleichroeder Advisers, LLC. In addition, Bruce consults worldwide on a variety of issues concerning capital markets, business strategy, corporate finance and labor performance. Greenwald is the author of several books including Competition Demystified: A Radically Simplified Approach to Business Strategy (with Judd Kahn, Putnam Penguin, 2005), Value Investing: From Graham to Buffett and Beyond (with Judd Kahn, et al, Wiley, 2001), and The Curse of the Mogul: What’s Wrong with the World’s Leading Media Companies (with Jonathan A. Kazuhiko Toyama started his career with BCG and later became one of the founding members of Corporate Directions, Inc. (CDI), a Tokyo-based independent management consulting firm, eventually becoming its CEO. In 2003, he was appointed to lead the Industrial Revitalization Corporation of Japan (IRCJ), a government-backed restructuring fund, as COO.

In 2007, when IRCJ dissolved, he founded Industrial Growth Platform, Inc. (IGPI), which he currently runs as its CEO. He graduated from The University of Tokyo’s Faculty of Law and holds an MBA from Stanford University. He has passed the Japanese National Bar Examination. Mr. Toyama is also vice chairperson of KEIZAI DOYUKAI (Japan Association of Corporate Executives), expert member of the Council on Economic Fiscal Policy (MOF), member of The Tax Commission (CAO), member of the Committee for National University Corporation Evaluation, Department of Innovation Program (MEXT), member of the Council of Experts Concerning the Corporate Governance Code (FSA), and outside director of OMRON Corporation and Pia Corporation.

マシューティカル・プロダクツ（米アボット・ラボラトリーズ社との合弁会社）の

社長を歴任するなど、米国生活は延べ 10年を数える。2011年から 2015年まで経済同友会代表

幹事。2013年より産業競争力会議 民間議員も務めた。

Yasuchika Hasegawa is chairman of the Board of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Ltd. He has been with the company since 1970, including three years in Germany and ten years in the United States as vice president and then president of TAP Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Chicago. He joined Takeda's Board of Directors in 1999, became president in 2003, chief executive officer in 2009, and chairman in 2014. Mr. Hasegawa was also chairman of the KEIZAI DOYUKAI (Japan Association of Corporate Executives) from 2011 to 2015, and has been a member of the Abe government's Industrial Competitiveness Council since 2013. He graduated from Waseda University.

年より花王、ソニー、ベネッセ等５社の日本企業の取締役を歴任。現在ブリ

ヂストン、味の素、Ｊ.フロントリテイリング、三菱商事の社外取締役。2003年より経済同友会幹事、

11年より 15年 4月まで副代表幹事を務める。

Prior to establishing her own firm in 2010, Ms. Fukushima headed the Japan operations of Korn/Ferry International and served for 12 years as a member of the firm’s global Board of Directors. She also worked at Bain & Company in Boston and Tokyo. Between 2001 and 2015, she was vice chairman, and is now director, of the Japan Association of Corporate Executives (KEIZAI DOYUKAI), director of the Japan Corporate Governance Network, and

executive director of the Japan Association of Corporate Directors. Since 2001, she has served on the Board of Directors for major Japanese companies such as Kao, Sony, Benesse, E-Access, and Parco. She currently serves on the board of Bridgestone, Ajinomoto, J. Front Retailing, and Mitsubishi Corp., in addition to being on the Advisory Board of the Development Bank of Japan and various government councils. She is the author of several books including The Marketable Global Executive. In 2008, Business Week selected her as one of “the World’s 100 Most Influential Headhunters” (the only Japanese on the list). 1951年にイェール大学にて文学士号取得後、ミシガン大学にて日本学修

士号 (1955年) 、経済学修士号 (1957年) 、経済学博士号 (1960年) を

取得。また一橋大学、東京大学、ボンベイ大学にて客員教授を務める。イ

ェール大学にて経済学教授および経済成長センター所長を務めた後、1984年にコロンビア大学教

授に就任。

グッゲンハイム奨学金およびフルブライト奨学金を受領し、大平賞を受賞。専門分野の出版刊行物

には、18の著書と 60余りの記事・論文を含む。

1974年から米国アジア太平洋会議役員および米外交問題評議会委員を務める。1994年 11月、

日本政府より勲二等瑞宝章を授与される。また、2000年に香港の嶺南大學にて社会科学名誉博士

号を受けた。2010年にはニューヨーク日本商工会議所から日米特別功労賞を授与された。

Hugh Patrick is founder and director of the Center on Japanese Economy and Business and R.D. Calkins Professor of International Business Emeritus at Columbia Business School. He is also co-director of Columbia University’s APEC Study Center. He joined the Columbia faculty in 1984 after some years as professor of economics and director of the Economic Growth Center at Yale University. He completed his BA at Yale University (1951), earned MA degrees in Japanese Studies (1955) and Economics (1957) and a PhD in Economics at the University of Michigan (1960). He has been a visiting professor at Hitotsubashi University, The University of Tokyo, and University of Bombay. Professor Patrick has been awarded Guggenheim and Fulbright fellowships and the Ohira Prize. His professional publications include 18 books and some 60 articles and essays. His most recent publications are How Finance Is Shaping the Economies of China, Japan, and Korea (Columbia University Press, 2013), coedited with Yung Chul Park; and Reviving Japan’s Economy: Problems and Prescriptions (MIT Press, 2005), coauthored and coedited with Takatoshi Ito and David E. Weinstein. Professor Patrick served as one of four American members of the binational Japan-United States Economic Relations Group appointed by President Carter and Prime Minister Ohira from 1979-1981. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Japan Society for seven three-year terms. In November 1994 the Japanese Government awarded him the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Gold and Silver Star (Kunnitō Zuihōshō). He was also awarded an honorary doctorate of Social Sciences by Lingnan University, Hong Kong in 2000 and the Eagle on the World Award by the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry of New York in 2010.

（UCLA）で法律博士号・経営学修士号を取得。J.P.モルガンに 11年間勤

務後、Ｍ＆Ａアドバイザリー業務に特化する株式会社ＪＴＰを創設し率いる。米国カリフォルニア州及

びニューヨーク州における弁護士資格取得。現在、在日米国商工会議所（ACCJ）の成長戦略タスク

フォース委員長を務める。2010年には、法務省と法制審議会会社法部会に対し会社法改正に対す

る意見を提供した金融庁主宰コーポレートガバナンス連絡会議に所属する。これまでに、在日米国

商工会議所理事、同対日直接投資タスクフォース座長、内閣府対日直接投資会議専門部会の外国

人特別委員、株式会社アルプスの取締役、スキャンダル後の株式会社 LDH(旧名ライブドア)、株式

会社セシールの社外取締役を歴任した。2013年、金融庁主導の「コーポレート・ガバナンス・コード」

制定の提案者として、担当議員及び金融庁にコードに関して詳しく助言。

Mr. Benes received his BA in political science from Stanford University, and a JD-MBA degree from UCLA. After working at JP Morgan for 11 years as an investment banker, he went on to lead a path-breaking M&A advisory boutique in Japan, JTP Corporation. He is an inactive member of the bar in California and New York. Currently, he serves the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ) as Chair of its Growth Strategy Task Force. In the past, he served as a governor of the ACCJ, chair of the ACCJ's FDI Committee, and as a member of the Japanese Cabinet’s “Experts Committee” of the Japan Investment Council. He has also served as an independent outside director at Alps Mapping, the listed company Cecile Ltd., and Livedoor Holdings (post-scandal). Mr. Benes has taught corporate governance and business ethics as an adjunct professor at Hitotsubashi University and the International University of Japan. In 2010, he was a member of the Financial Services Agency’s Corporate Governance Liaison Committee regarding amendment of Japan's Company Law. In 2013, he proposed that the creation of a corporate governance code be included in the LDP's growth strategy, to be implemented under the auspices of the FSA. He then advised members of the Diet and the FSA with regard to the drafting process and the content of Japan's first corporate governance code.

David E. Weinstein is the Carl S. Shoup Professor of the Japanese Economy and chair of the Department of Economics at Columbia University. He is also the director of research at the Center on Japanese Economy and Business at Columbia Business School, director of the Japan Project at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Previously, Professor Weinstein was senior economist as well as a consultant at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, and the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. Prior to joining the Columbia faculty, Professor Weinstein held professorships at the University of Michigan and Harvard University. He also served on the Council of Economic Advisors from 1989 to 1990. His teaching and research interests include international economics and the Japanese economy. Professor Weinstein earned his PhD and MA in economics from the University of Michigan and his BA at Yale University. He is the recipient of many grants and awards, including five National Science Foundation grants, an Institute for New Economic Thinking grant, a Bank of International Settlements Fellowship, and a Google Research Award. Professor Weinstein is the author of numerous publications and articles. His recent publications include “Goods Prices and Availability in Cities,” Review of Economics and Statistics (2014); “Exports and Financial Shocks,” Quarterly Journal of Economics (2011); “Trade Finance and the Great Trade Collapse,” American Economic Review Papers and Proceedings (2011); and “Product Creation and Destruction: Evidence and Price Implications,” American Economic Review (2010).

About the Center on Japanese Economy and Business (CJEB)

The preeminent academic center in the U.S. on Japanese business and economics

Established at Columbia Business School in 1986 under the direction of Professor Hugh

Patrick, the Center on Japanese Economy and Business (CJEB) promotes knowledge and

understanding of Japanese business and economics in an international context. CJEB is a

research organization widely recognized for its international symposia, conferences, and

lectures held both in New York and Tokyo, which provide prominent speakers from the public

and private sectors a forum for collaboration and reflection on Japan, the United States, and

the global economy. Under the leadership of Professor David E. Weinstein, director of

research, the Center supports research projects and library and computer-based resource

initiatives. Other core faculty members are Japan specialists drawn from Columbia’s Business

School, Law School, School of International and Public Affairs, Economics Department, and

the Department of Political Science. Funding and resources are provided by corporate
