Moths can detect female moths' pheromones from 1 km away.
Genetic engineering produced moths designed to respond only to a specific smell.
For example, moths designed to respond only to the smell of drugs or explosives would prevent terrorism. Moths are easy to
handle because they require no training. They can be used in various fields such as land-mine removal.
Use: Sensor for explosives, drugs, hazardous materials, etc.

Niels Reimers : Father of Technology Licensing
In 1968 he established a research management office at Stanford University.
In 1969 he also established Office of Technology Licensing (OTL) at Stanford Univ.
The successful launching of these two offices led to his hiring by universities such as the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the University of California at Berkeley, and the
University of California at San Francisco, all of which were seeking to establish their own
offices for technology transfers.
A cofounder of the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM),
Mr. Reimers has served as chairman of the Licensing Executive Society (U.S. and Canada). 1969年OTL(オフィス・オブ・テクノロジー・ライセンシング)を 設立。

To make University-Industry collaboration into innovation
Training human resources for technology transfer
(professional certification of technology transfer on a worldwide basis)
ATTP(=Alliance of Technology Transfer Professionals)はRTTP(=Registered Technology Transfer Professional)という技術移転のプロを認定している。
ATTP (Alliance of Technology Transfer Professionals) conducts a certification called RTTP (Registered Technology Transfer Professional). Its members include AUTM (U.S.), ASTP-Proton (Europe), KCA (Australia), SARIMA (South Africa), PraxisUnico (U.K.), SNITTS (Sweden), Technology Allianz (Germany), USIMP (Turkey),STEM(India) and UNITT (Japan)

GAP fund
Western universities provide the GAP fund or Proof of Consent fund (POC fund). Unlike venture capital, the GAP fund aims to push basic research closer to commercialization. In an early stage of technology development at a university, TLO selects a highly marketable technology and files a GAP fund application jointly with the inventor.
There is a need for the GAP fund system, already offered by some Japanese universities, to become available nationwide.

3. Strengthen collaborative research management function
From one laboratory ⇔ enterprise to university (multiple laboratory) ⇔ enterprise
The university grasps the research theme in the university and matches or suggests with the company NEEDS
Work with URA and joint research management. Milestone setting, accounting processing
Understanding related patents and information confidentiality management until report preparation.

5. Enhancement of angel tax system (corporate application)
The government sets a tax deduction framework for the amount venture invested by companies. (for example, up to 500 million yen)
Although it is a temporary tax cut, as a result if the investment venture succeeds tax revenues may increase.
