Program of StudyThe International Graduate Programs may be completed within one year. The minimum length of stay in the Program is one calendar year, and the maximum time for completion of a master’s degree is within three years. This time limit is counted from the time students enter the graduate program, regardless of any leave of absence taken. There is no thesis requirement for the program. However, students can choose to complete a thesis, which is equivalent to 6 credits of elective courses. The graduation ceremony is held once a year in June and the Master’s degrees are conferred twice a year in June and December.

Courses in other Master’s programsInternational Graduate Students are permitted to take up to 16 credits, i.e., three sessions, at the 500 level, from other Master level courses offered by SITE in a related discipline, with permissions from a Program Director of the International Graduate Program.

SITE offers international programs of study leading to Master’s degrees in International Graduate Programs in Applied Economics (IGPAE), International Graduate Program in International Business (IGPIB), International Graduate Program in International Development (IGPID) and a new program, International Graduate Program in Finance (IGPF).

Conditional Offer A conditional offer means that there are conditions an applicant must satisfy in order to receive the Master of Economics. If applicants have received a conditional offer, this will be noted in the details of the “Offer of Admission” letter. An applicant with no intermediate-level Micro-, Macro- and Econometrics experience, and University level courses in calculus, accounting and statistics may be conditionally accepted. For those with deficiencies, the normal procedure is for the student to take qualifying courses to eliminate the deficiencies in one or two sessions. Credits taken to fulfill the requirements of the qualifying courses shall not be used for credit for the degree requirement of 37 credits.

- An applicant must have completed or must be in the final year of completing a four-year or Honors Degree in an undergraduate program.

- Two reference letters from academic advisors or instructors. If applicants have working experience with the outstanding performance, the letters from supervisors will be acceptable.

- Enclose one official copy of your academic transcript in a signed and sealed (institutional) envelope.

- Proficiency in English is necessary. All applications must satisfy the Proficiency in English in One of the following: TOEFL iBT (internet based) test result of at least 86 points: TOEFL (computer based) test result of at least 213 points: TOEFL (paper based) test result of at least 550 points: IELTS test result of 6.0 with a minimum of 6.0 in each band score. This requirement does not apply to an applicant who has studied for at least two years at, or received a degree from a college or university which instruction language was English.

- Other than academic qualification, applicants may want to demonstrate that they possess the necessary learning ability to succeed in the program. For instance, job experience, activities, and etc.

Please note that the possession of the minimum entrance requirements does not guarantee that every qualified applicant will be offered admission. The Graduate Admissions Committee takes several factors into consideration in assessing the eligibility of an applicant for admission into the program.

ADMISSIONSApplicationThe Faculty normally admits students to commence in the fall session. However, the Faculty may consider applicants to commence in the spring session.

What next? If applicants receive an “Offer of Admission” by email and wish to accept, they will need to send a CN ¥5000 non-refundable deposit. The deposit is required upon acceptance of the offer of admission to the International Graduate Program. This deposit will be applied to your first term Tuition fee. Upon receipt of the deposit, the admission office will mail the Admissions Notice and JW202 for a Chinese visa. One-year tuition fee: CN ¥99,160 (max. 37 credits)

Importantly, International Graduate students are required to pay the Program fee CN ¥99,160 at the first registration period or at least CN ¥50,000 at the first registration period and the rest of amount at the second registration period. Tuition Payments finalize the registrations at UIBE and the Payments are due and payable at the time of registration period of each term; and the living expenses, cost of class materials and required software are not included in the cost of tuition.

Note that Tuition fees of re-take courses and undergraduate courses are charged on a credit basis, not included in the International graduate Program Fee.

Program costThe University reserves the right to change tuition, late registration fees and refund policies without notice. Tuition fees are usually reviewed in the spring of each year. For the incoming students, tuition fees are charged on a per-credit basis. The rate for each credit is CN ¥2680.

Academic Calendars: 2009/2010 & 2010/2011There are three terms in one calendar year: fall, spring and summer terms. Fall and spring consist of fifteen weeks of normal classes and a summer term consisting of 7 weeks of classes.

Calculating Your Expenses The first step in financial planning is getting an accurate calculation for your costs. If you are planning to study the International Graduate programs at SITE, you should expect to budget about ¥162,160 for an academic year.

Chinese Government ScholarshipsThe Ministry of Education of China provides scholarships for international students. Applicants should apply to the competent authority in their home countries, relevant organization, or Chinese diplomatic missions for Scholarships between February and April. Please contact the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange of Ministry of Education of China which takes charge of the official approval of the scholarships. You can also check the information on the website at www.csc.edu.cn.

Beijing Scholarships

This is a new scholarship for international graduate programs in Beijing. The scholarship can cover 50% of the tuition, and the deadline is March 20. For the details, please contact the Admissions Office by email at [email protected] or by calling at + 86 (10) 6449-2329.

SITE Scholarships

University of Intentional Business and Economics (UIBE) is situated in the Northeastern part of Beijing’s Chaoyang District. The University is about 20 km away from the Beijing International Airport. By taxi cab from the Airport, the fare is about 75 Yuan (including 10 Yuan tolls). Several bus companies provide shuttle service at the airport; the shuttle fare is about 20 Yuan. UIBE students enjoy convenient public transportation service.
