Page Drafts / Dummies

Front Cover:This is one cover layout that I plan to use for the magazine. It features Pull quotes on the right hand side to help engage the audience and grab people’s attention. A large background image is utilised to fill the whole cover, with the other elements overlaid on top. Two other images relating to feature articles will feature in smaller boxes alongside an overlaid caption for each. The large image will be captioned using one of the pull quote areas on the right, whilst the logo masthead will sit on the top left of the cover, allowing the logo to easily be seen on the shelf.

For each draft I created both a sketch plan (Above) and the plan with an example of the layout in use for contextual purposes (Left)

Contents PageThe general layout of the magazine’s contents page is shown on the right. There are numerous areas for image placement across the page, which decrease in size down the page relating to each articles exclusivity. Each image is captioned by a title for the article, a short description and the page number. At the top of the page the logo appears once again, alongside the issue date, whilst the bottom segment features an A-Z of the bands/articles in the issue and their relevant page numbers.(Below) An example using the layout

Double Page Spread

The above image illustrates one possible layout for a double page spread article. It features columned text alongside a large image featuring a descriptive caption. A smaller image is also captioned and a pull quote from the article is

used. There is a large heading which will include a title and a subtitle. Below is the layout used as an example feature spread:
