Epistle: A reading from the Acts of the Apos-tles. (9: 32 - 42) In those days Peter was making numerous journeys, he went -- among other places -- to God’s holy people living in Lydda. There he found a man named Aeneas, a paralytic who had been bedridden for eight years. Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ cures you! Get up and make your bed.’’ The man got up at once. All the inhabitants of Lydda and Sharon, upon seeing him, were converted to the Lord. Now in Joppa there was a certain woman con-vert named Tabitha (in Greek Dorcas, meaning a gazelle). Her life was marked by constant good deeds and acts of charity. At about that time she fell ill and died. They washed her body and laid it out in an upstairs room. Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples who had

gradually kill us, and give in to various addictions: a constant feeling of hunger, or overeating which in turn leads to vari-ous illnesses. Our Lord has given us the sense of TOUCH, so that we could fully appreci-ate that which we see, hear, taste and breathe in… Our Lord has given us the gift of SPEECH, so that we could bless every-one and everything around us, thanking our Creator for each gift that we receive in our life and we, instead, complain, deal in empty words and curse… Our Lord has given us so many gifts and we ignore many of them, creating our own “pale human copies” which turn us into addicted servants, tightly chained to the ground, shortening our lives…. Our Lord has given us everything so that we could love and be free, like heavenly birds… Let us not destroy ourselves and the world around us. Let’s start today, and if possible, as of-ten as possible, contemplate and relish that which God has created for us. Let us stop being slaves to bad habits, drinks and foods, and let us spend more time with those who are dear to us instead of our computers and televisions. As we follow the Divine Law, our world which is full of tears and suffering, will gradually turn to a place of joy, and will fill with health and happiness…. At first it will be diffi-cult, for we are a generation which is ad-dicted to various conveniences… and of course computers and televisions…. But our Lord is our strength and we can over-come everything. He loves us and wants to see us to be happy!

Господь подарував нам дар ДОТИКУ, щоб ми могли відчувати повноту того, що ми бачимо, чуємо, смакуємо, вдихаємо…. Господь наділив нас даром МОВИ, щоб ми усе і усіх навколо нас благословляли, дякуючи Творцеві за кожний дар у цьому житті, а ми, натомість, нарікаємо, пустословимо, проклинаємо…. Господь обдарував нас стількома дарами, а ми багато із них часто ігноруємо, створивши власні «людські бліді копії», які роблять нас узалежненими рабами, приковують міцно до землі, скорочуючи наші дні…. Господь дав нам усе для того, щоб ми любили та були вільними як птиці небесні… Не руйнуймо себе та світ навколо нас! Давайте вже від сьогодні якомога частіше споглядатимемо та насолоджуватимемося сотвореним світом, споживатимемо якомога більше свіжих овочів, фруктів, горішків, зерен, перестанемо бути рабами шкідливих звичок, напоїв та «їжі», проводитимемо час з своїми коханими та друзями замість комп’ютерів та телевізорів. Слідуючи божественним законам, наш світ, повен сліз та страждання, поступово перетворюватиметься на місце радості, повноти, здоров’я та щастя… Спочатку це буде важко, бо ми уже поколіннями узалежнені від різноманітних ласощів, та копченого, телевізорів і комп’ютерів… Але Господь - наша сила, з Ним ми усе зможемо подолати! Він любить нас і хоче бачити нас щасливими!

The Lord has given us everything that is essential for the fullness of life – joy, health and happiness… just stop for a minute and think about it: He gave us EYESIGHT, so that we could see the divine beauty of all creation. Let us look at a flower, at a blade of grass, at a tree, at birds that fly in the heavenly heights, at the mysterious star lit evening sky, at a human being - the crown of His creation! No craftsman is capable of creating anything similar to this. This is not MAN MADE BEAU-TY… A whole lifetime is not enough to appreciate all of this, and yet we spend practically all of our free time in front of computers, television sets, working in the kitchen… Our Lord gave us the gift of the sense of HEARING, so that we could appreci-ate the music of nature, the gurgling of streams, the rustling of leaves, the heav-enly song of birds… and we, instead, fill our inner space with heavy music, harm-ful information, gossip…. Our Lord gave us the gift of the sense of SMELL, so that we could find joy in the aroma of millions of flowers, fresh air, particularly at night, and yet we have invented artificial scents of perfumes, which gradually destroy the ozone layer and our lungs…. Our Lord gave us the gift of the sense of TASTE, so that we could be nourished and so that we could enjoy fruits, vegeta-bles, greens… And we, instead, kill all vitamins, aromas and later add various tastes so that our cooked food could have some taste. We eat synthetic foods which

Господь обдарував нас усім необ-хідним для повноти життя, радості, здоров’я та щастя у цьому світі… Лише задумаймося на хвильку: Він дав нам ЗІР, щоб ми могли спогляда-ти божественну красу усього сотворіння. Гляньмо на квіточку, на травичку, на де-рево, на птиць, які ширяють у небесній височинні, на вечірнє, сповнене таємнич-ності, зоряне небо, на людину, вінець Йо-го творіння! Жоден майстер не спромо-жен відтворити чогось подібного. Це НЕРУКОТВОРНА КРАСА…. Нам цілого життя не вистачить, щоб усім вповні намилуватися, а ми, натомість, практично весь наш вільний час проводимо перед екранами комп’ютерів, телевізорів, на кухні…. Господь подарував нам СЛУХ, щоб ми могли насолоджуватися музикою природи, дзюркучанням струмочків, шелестом листя, райським співом пташок…, а ми, натомість, заповняємо нашу внутрішню порожнечу важкою музикою, шкідливою інформацією, плітками…. Господь подарував нам НЮХ, щоб нам приносили радість аромати мільйонів різноманітних квітів, зелені, свіжого повітря, особливо вночі, а ми створили штучні запахи парфумів, які поступово нищать озоновий шар та наші легені… Господь подарував нам СМАК, щоб ми живилися та насолоджувалися фруктами, овочами, зелениною, горішками, зернами…. А ми, натомість, вбиваємо всі вітаміни, аромати, ферменти вогнем, готуючи їжу, а потім додаємо смакових додатків, щоб варена їжа мала хоч якийсь смак…. Ми їмо синтетичну, підсипану їжу, яка поступово вбиває нас, спровоковуючи різноманітні узалеж-

Upon his arrival they took him up-stairs to the room. All the widows came to him in tears and showed him the various garments Dorcas had made when she was still with them. Peter first made everyone go outside; then he knelt down and prayed. Turning to the dead body, he said, “Tabitha, stand up.’’ She opened her eyes, then looked at Peter and sat up. He gave her his hand and helped her to her feet. The next thing he did was to call in those who were believers and the widows to show them that she was alive. Gospel: John 5: 1 - 15: At that time Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now in Jerusalem by the Sheep Pool there is a place with the Hebrew name Bethesda. It’s five porti-coes were crowded with sick people lying there blind, lame or disabled, waiting for the move-ment of the water. For from time to time an an-gel of the Lord used to come down into the pool; and the water was stirred up, so the first one to get in was healed of whatever sickness he had had. There was one man who had been sick for thirty eight years. Jesus, who knew he had been sick a long time, said when he saw him lying there, “Do you want to be healed?’’ “Sir,’’ the sick man answered, “I do not have anyone to plunge me into the pool once the water has been stirred up. By the time I get there, someone else has gone in ahead of me.’’ Jesus said to him, “Stand up! Pick up your mat and walk!’’ The man was immediately cured; he picked up his mat and began to walk. The day was a sabbath. Consequently, some of the Jews began telling the man who had been cured, “It is the sabbath, and you are not al-lowed to carry the mat around.’’ He explained, “It was the man who cured me who told me, ‘Pick up your mat and walk.’ ‘‘ “This person who told you to pick it up and walk,’’ they asked, “who is he?’’ The man who had been

turns people into egoists. Faith without love

turns people into fanatics. God - is Love!

If we learn to see a part of God in every neighbor

we will have learned to love.

Боже і Отче всіх людей, Ти закликаєш до себе всі народи світу. Просвіти їх, щоб серед суєти нашо-го часу вони дізналися про те, що може принести їм мир. Збуди в них щире прагнення до порозуміння і єдності. Допоможи їм прощати одне одному те зло, яке вони заподіювали своїм ближнім, допоможи їм співпрацювати у справі миру, поважаючи права кож-ної людини, у згоді з Твоєю волею. Припадаємо до Твоїх ніг, благаючи про припинення ненависті й незгод. Просимо справедливості і святої любові. Просимо миру нашим душам. Просимо миру роди-нам. Просимо миру в суспільстві та між народами. Даруй своїм вірним мир, якого не може дати світ, щоб ми могли цілковито присвятити себе служінню Тобі, і щоб усі наші дні, позбавлені страху перед ворогами, минали в мирі під Твоїм захистом. Амінь.

God and Father of all people, you summon all nations of the world. Enlighten them so that in the con-fusion of our times they learn about how to attain peace. Awaken a sincere desire in them toward understanding and unity. Help them to forgive the wrong that they have done to each other, help them to work toward peace and to respect the rights of all people in accord-ance to Your will. We fall before You and beg that You stop all violence and discord. We ask for fairness and holy love. We ask for peace for our souls. We ask for peace for our families. We ask for peace in our society and among nations. Give Your faithful peace which the world cannot give them so that we can dedi-cate ourselves toward serving You. May we be free of a fear toward our enemies and may we live our days under Your protection. Amen.

Program to conclude with release of white doves for peace in Ukraine

“Pray for Ukraine” will be the focus of a commemorative religious service and concert next Sunday, April 17, 2016, beginning at 3 p.m. in the golden-domed Ukrainian Catho-lic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 830 North Franklin Street, Philadelphia, Pa. “Pray for Ukraine” will commemorate the 30th anniversary of the nuclear disaster at Chornobyl, Ukraine and will be a day of prayer for an end to the war in eastern Ukraine. All are invited and encouraged to participate in this solemn event of prayer, music, reflections and hope for peace in Ukraine. A flock of white doves will be released at the conclusion of the program.

У неділю, 17 квітня 2016 року, о 3 год. дня в золо-товерхій Українській Католицькій Катедрі Непо-рочного Зачаття в Філадельфії, відбудеться цер-ковна відправа та концерт пам'яті «Молитва за Україну» з нагоди відзначення 30-ліття Чорно-бильської трагедії та день молитви за завершення війни на Сході України. Запрошуємо і заохочуємо всіх до участі в молитві, музичному вшануванні та роздумах з надією про мир в Україні.
