    AUSTRALIA GOES FOR POLLS

    The date for election is now announced and as you receive this newsletter the deadline to register

    yourself as a voter is tonight. Do not forget to enrol if you or any other

    member in the family is eligible. Use your right to vote.

    CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS BY SPECIAL

    RESOLUTION AT GENERAL MEETING

    1st August 2010 at 5.30 pmForestor Park Hall

    A meeting to discuss and approve the proposed amendments in

    constitution will be held on Ist August 2010.

    All the proposed amendments with existing bye laws have been

    circulated to financial and non financial members. We are receiving the

    feedback which is now compiled. All submissions will be circulated to

    all members one week before the scheduled meeting to make an

    informed decision.

    ANNUAL GENERAL BODY MEETING 2010.

    Ist August 2010 at 6.30 pm Forestor Park Hall

    The annual general meeting (AGM) scheduled for 4th July 2010 is now

    set for 1st August 2010 at 6.30 pm. Agenda to be circulated next week.

    PAKISTANI DELEGATION LEAVES SOON

    The Pakistani delegation to observe training opportunities in vocational

    education system has been around for two weeks. On 17th July they also

    had a chance to interact with the community members at a dinner hosted

    by Mr. Ahmed Saeed. On behalf of PAWA an invitation to visit UWA and

    have a barbecue by Matilda Bay on Friday has been extended to the

    group depending on how busy they are.

    assume a more challenging role there is a casual vacancy available. The

    of health professionals.

    The Centre is seeking applications for the above position funded by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship,

    which is available for up to 30 hours per fortnight until 30th June 2011 and possibly longer.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The role of the Settlement Grant Workers is to undertake community development initiatives and to provide

    settlement services to recently arrived refugee, humanitarian and family stream entrants.

    ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

    1. Tertiary qualifications in social welfare disciplines or substantial experience in the delivery of community

    services.2. Demonstrated advocacy, information dissemination and referral skills.

    3. Sound knowledge of services available to migrants and refugees from new and emerging communities

    4. Demonstrated capacity to work with recently arrived refugees, humanitarian and family stream entrants

    individual, group and community levels.

    5. Well developed verbal and written communication skills.

    6. Ability to work in a team environment and independently

    7. Computer literacy and word processing skills

    8. Possession of WA Drivers Licence

    HIGHLY DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

    1. Good understanding of the needs, concerns and aspirations of recently arrived refugees and humanitarian

    entrants, from new and emerging communities.

    2. Ability to communicate/speak a language other than English, preferably a language spoken by new and

    emerging communities.
