Project Title - Arsenal

Page 2: Pneumatic Gun

OBJECTIVE

• Design and manufacture working models of turret and sniper rifle• Gaining hands-on experience of design and fabrication• Experience importance of team work, coordination and

planning• To have fun and secure 50% course marks

DESIGN - SNIPER

BASIC PARTS :

The Chamber The Gun Body Stock (Proposed)

The Muzzle Trigger Valve Trigger

Assembly

Page 5: Pneumatic Gun

MECHANISM - SNIPER

• Pressurised air filled into the chamber.• Air is released as the Blow gun valve switch is shifted to its “On”

position. The switch of the valve is turned on manually to fire the sniper. This could be triggered using a trigger assembly which was designed but not incorporated in our model.• This leads to the firing of the deadly canon stored in the muzzle

of the gun.• After fire the slider magazine allows us to reload a new canon

into the muzzle.• And lastly, why the stock ?• It simply serves the purpose of supporting the shoulder on fire.

Page 6: Pneumatic Gun

SNIPER SPECIFICATIONS

• 0.6 caliber aluminium bullet• The barrel can withstand pressures

upto 5 MPa• Range – 150 ft to 200 ft• Adjustable barrel length – can be

used either as a rifle or a carbine depending on range, accuracy and maneuverability required

TURRET

Page 9: Pneumatic Gun

MECHANISM - TURRET

• Powered by slingshot mechanism• One end of rubber band fixed to muzzle.• Elastic band goes through a slotted wood launcher

which finally hits the ammo inside the muzzle• Launcher is pulled manually similar to a cross-bow to

fire the ammo

Page 10: Pneumatic Gun

TURRET SPECIFICATIONS

• Ammo – Assorted. Any cylindrical object with sufficient weight, about 15cm long and 10mm in diameter can be a potential ammo. We used pencils and pens for safety considerations.• Range – Depends on the elastic and ammo

used. We achieved 30 ft. • Field of View – About 300 in azimuthal angle

and 3600 about the outward normal.

MATERIAL SELECTION

• We selected PPR pipes and connections• Can sustain high air

pressure• Used in compressor

fittings

• Can be joined easily by hot air gun • We selected wood

for turret

• Easy to work with• Cheap• Easy to incorporate

design changes

FURTHER IMPROVISATIONS POSSIBLE

SNIPER• A trigger mechanism

using the elastic force of elastic bands instead of manual operation (design enclosed)• A binocular to set target• A stand to allow fire in

resting position

TURRET• Automated firing using a disc

with a spoke protruding out of its periphery allowing elastic band to be pulled and the disc rotation can be done using a motor attached.• Mounting on wheels to

enhance portability• Locking mechanism to avoid

recoil

SNIPER TRIGGER MECHANISM (Designed)

Unfortunately , this feature couldn’t be included in our model because of paucity of time
