ATTENUATOR SPECIFICATIONS

Splitters

To be manufactured from a minimum 22

gauge perforated galvanized steel perforation

with 2.5 mm. diameter giving a minimum 23% open

area. The splitters shall incorporate solid bull nose

and perforated taper sections at the rear as required.

The splitters shall be inserted and locked intothe duct silencer casing by an interlocking track.

The track shall be constructed from solid galvanized

sheet steel of the same thickness as the casing

and be spot welded to the casing.

Outer Casing

To be constructed from galvanized steel of 

minimum 18 gauge and fabricated in accordance

with the requirement of the ASHRAE guide

recommendation for high pressure ductwork.

Spiltter Infil material

This shall be a glass fiber material in accordance

with ASTM-C423. The material shall be compressed

to not less than 10% of its volume to ensure solid

packing in the splitter.

The infil shall be tested in accordance with

 ASTM-C411 to give a standard infil temperature

limit of 120 ºC an a galvanized sheet steel limit

of 250 ºC. For a high temperature infil, an infil

limit of 540 ºC is required with a galvanized steel

limit of 650 ºC. The infil materials must also meet

the requirement of NFPA - 90 and ASTM-E84

for flame spread and smoke development.

 Alternative casing and splitter materials can be

provided as required. A polyester or mylar 

membrane can also be provided as required tominimize the ingress of dust or water into the

infil
