[About HEAD RANK]
HEAD RANK is necessary to set the proper voltage for each head. If it is not set correctly for each head, ink cannot be
fired with the proper amount, i.e. too much ink or too less ink. The symptom in the printing will be dark printing, light
printing or fine lines.

[About CAPPING POSITION ADJUSTMENT]
There are 2 main purposes for the CAPPING POSITION ADJUSTMENT. It is necessary for protecting the heads
from drying up and also to maintain good ink suction. If the capping position is not adjusted, head could cause
misfiring of ink or cause ink suction problem.
Remove the MAINTENANCE COVER and move the
HEAD CARRIAGE to the left by hand to unlock it from the

Servo Motor feeds back to the CPU the actual rotation corresponds to the instruction.
Motor tries to follow the instruction from the CPU.
Difference between the actual rotation and the instruction
could be adjusted with the Motor balance (GAIN) Adjustment.- If the difference is small (=GAIN is small), motor becomes very
sensitive. As a result, it vibrates.
- If the difference is big (=GAIN is big), motor becomes dull to
the instruction. And as a result, cutting quality will be damaged.
Motor Balance (OFFSET) Adjustment is used to adjust the
GAIN for CW and CCW direction to be equal.
– Ex. 1 in the figure shows that both the OFFSET and
GAIN is adjusted in both CW and CCW directions.
– Ex.2 shows that the GAIN is adjusted but the OFFSET is
shifted. Therefore, the GAIN will be big in CCW directionand small in CW direction.
As a result, motor becomes dull in CCW direction and
sensitive in CW direction causing problems.

9lb ~ 11lb is the optimal wire tension. The value for the wire

N O CHECKING POINT ACTION REFERENCE OUTLINE
1 Temporary clogging in nozzles. Head CleaningNozzle condition becomes poor due to the foreign substanceattached to the surface of the Head or very slight drying of the ink.
2 Wrong setting fo r the med ia . Apply correct setting.Fine lines could appear when the setting such as the clearancebetween the media and the head, ink amount, or printing mode, iswrong.
3 Slack in media. Set the media correctly. Fine lines could appear when the media is not fed correctly.
4 Cleaning Wiper wears out. Replace the Cleaning Wiper. 3-2Surface of the Head cannot be cleaned correctly and results inmissing dot due to the foreign substances.
5 Foreign substances Manual Head Cleaning. User's ManualScratchy printing or missing dot could occur because the foreignsubstances that gathered around the Head, Capping and theCleaning Wiper makes contact to the nozzles.
6Transformation of the Pad insidethe Cap.
Replace the Capping Unit. 3-3Ink bubbles could form inside the Cap due to the transformation of the Pad. When this ink bubbles make contact with the Head, printing problems could occur.
7 Drain Tube is clogged. Replace the Drain Tube.Ink suction could not be performed correctly when the drain tubesclog. Therefore, ink could not be fired correctly and results in theprinting problem.
8 Ink Damper is clogged or broken. Replace the Ink Damper. When the Ink Damper clogs, enough ink cannot be supplied to theHead and results in scratchy printing or missing dot.
9 Capp ing is ou t of pos ition. Capping Pos iti on Ad jus tment 4-6The foreign substance around the Capping sticks to the headsurface and clogs the nozzles when the Capping Position is not
correct resulting in missing dot.
10 Ink Cartridge is empty. Replace the Ink Cartridge. When the Ink Control is set to [LATER] and perform a longprinting job, the ink runs out and results in scratchy printing ormissing dot due to lack in ink supply.
11 Head is out of position. Head Alignment. 4-5When the Head is not aligned correctly, fine lines could appear inthe printing.
12 Flushing position is not correct. Flushing Position Adjustment 4-7
When the Flushing Position is not adjusted correctly, Flushingwill be performed out side of the Cap. The ink being fired sticksto the Head avoids the correct firing and results in scratchyprinting or missing dot.

N O CHECKING POINT ACTION REFERENCE OUTLINE
1 Media Jamming User Explanation
When the media jams against the Carriage or the Sheet Cutter,Motor Error could occur. It can be recovered by removing the media and turning off and onthe power again. In the worst case, it could result in the damage of the Head or theMain Board. Therefore, it is important to explain to the users thecorrect way of setting the media.
2 Motor Balance is not correct . Motor Balance Adjustment 4-11When the motor balance is not correctly adjusted, motor erroroccurs.
3 Broken or life of the Motor. Replace the Motor. 3-8Motor has brush and it will be consumed when the motorrevolves. When it reaches its life, the correct current won't besupplied to the motor and results in the Motor Error.
4Switching Power Supply isbroken.
Replace the Switching PowerSupply.
When the Switching Power Supply breaks, the motor stopsrevolving and results in Motor Error.
5 Main Board is broken. Replace the Main Board. 4-5When the Motor Controller IC (IC41 & 42) on the Main Boardbreak, the motor cannot be controlled correctly and results inMotor Error.
