ROUND TABLE ON THE
CELAC – EU
SANTIAGO SUMMIT
13May 2013 / 14H30 – 18H15
ICHEC Brussels Management School Boulevard Brand Whitlock 2, 1150 Brussels
Organized by:
“Interuniversity Institute for the Relations between The European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean” – IRELAC (Brussels)
“Centro di Studi, Formazione e Informazione dell'America Latina - UE” CEFIAL (Milan)
“European Forum of e-Excellence” EMF (Brussels)
The 7th EU-LAC Summit – first CELAC-EU Summit - brought together European, Latin American and Caribbean Heads of State and Government in Santiago de Chile on 26-27 January 2013, in order to address an Alliance for Sustainable Development to Promote Investments of Social and Environmental Quality. During the Summit, the Leaders adopted a political Declaration and expanded an Action Plan. After this very important event enriched by a number of related meetings such as the Judicial Summit, Academic Summit, Business Summit and the Summit of Civil Society, IRELAC, CEFIAL and EMF propose to dedicate a round table and open discussion to the issues and challenges both regions are facing in the framework of their partnership. The main purpose of this event is to open a space for a free exchange of views between academic experts, authorities, enterprises and civil society representatives in order to contribute to spurring the momentum reached at these Santiago Summits to improve the implementation of the EU-CELAC Action Plan fostering cooperation for mutual interest in the fields of trade, science, technology, innovation, education and social inclusion and aimed to adapt the CELAC and EU instruments to establish a structured framework for broader and deeper political dialogue and sustainable development.
