From the IMS RIDE Dashboard, hover over the Rhode Island Interim Assessments link and click on Scoring.

Scoring – Assigned Tests

Step 1: The Scoring homepage lists the tests you administered and tests you have been assigned to score. For each test, the number of items available for scoring is shown.  Select “view items” to drill down to the items for a particular test.

Scoring – Assigned Items

Step 2: Select “review item” to examine the item and it’s scoring materials; orselect “score responses” to score the available student responses for an item.

Step 3 “Review Item”: A series of tabs provides all of the information needed to score an item. “Question” gives the text of the item.  For reading tests, “Passage” displays the entire reading selection that accompanies the question.

Step 3a: “Rubric” displays the scoring rubric for the item, including a description of each score point.

Step 3b: “Training Notes” displays any additional information that may help in scoring the item. Not all items will have training notes.

Step 3c: “Anchor Pack” provides a link to exemplar student responses at each score point. Click “View the Anchor Pack” to open a PDF of the exemplar responses. Not all items will have anchor packs.

Step 4: Click “Score this item” to begin scoring the item.  (To return to a list of items, click the link to the left, “Back to my list of assigned items”.)

Scoring – Score Responses

Step 5:  Read the student response, refer to scoring support materials, and assign a score.  The student response is shown under “Answer”.  The question and passage, if applicable, can be reviewed by clicking the blinds above the answer.

Math responses: Student responses to math questions will display a graphic, “Draw Response Placeholder”.   This can be ignored, it is used for providing student answer space in the online testing system.

Step 6:  Review the Scoring support materials, if necessary.  Clicking this link opens a new window and displays the Rubric, Training Notes, and Anchor Pack.

Step 7:  After reading the student response and reviewing the scoring materials, select the score you wish to apply to the response.  You can change the score by selecting a different score point, or click “Clear all” to clear the score for the student response.

Step 8: Click “Save Score” to move to the next student response in the queue.  Note: Once you click “Save Score” your selected score is saved and you cannot return to that student response.  You cannot skip a student response; you must assign a score to each one.

When all queued student responses have been scored, you will automatically return to the list of assigned items.

Note: You do not need to score all student responses at one time.  You may return to the list of assigned tests or assigned items at any time.  Any responses that have not been scored will be available in the list of assigned items.
