Dear colleagues,

Welcome to the third issue of the Securitas Sentinel

newsletter, which has more information about Securitas

that we would like to share with you, I hope you will

enjoy it and find it informative.

The last few months have seen an additional busy

period when we moved office in Lai Chi Kok. After

unpacking, tidying up and decoration, the office is now

clean and shining. Thank you for the collaboration of the office staff to implement

the 5s standard throughout the workplace. I am sure this new working

environment will bring us an energetic and harmonious working atmosphere.

Recently, we received a number of compliments from our clients on our staffs’

outstanding performance. This confirms that the hard work and dedicated effort of

our staff is recognized and appreciated.

In order to formally appreciate their efforts we have launch the “Excellence in Service

Award” with posters and application forms being distributed to the sites. The awards

will reward and recognize staff who have provided excellent performance and

service quality while carrying out their duties.

I am sure this quarterly-based cash award will reward those that live our company

values of Integrity, Vigilance and Helpfulness.

Finally, the raining season is upon us- please take care when conducting your duties,

accidents such as slips, trips and falls can be avoid if a little extra care is taken. If you

discover a safety issues or potential issues you should escalate to your supervisor or

the operational management to review and correct. Finally you are encouraged to

read the EH&S section of this newsletter for more safety tips.

自搬遷到荔枝角的辦公室後，這幾個月以來真的很繁忙。拆箱、整理及佈置。現在，辦公室已經很清潔和亮麗。感謝各辦公室員工共同合作，運用”五常法” 整理辦公室。我肯定這工作環境能為我們帶來積極和融洽的新氣象。

最近，我們收到很多客戶給我們的讚揚信，這些都証明了員工的優秀工作表現得到認同和讚賞。為正式表揚各位的努力，我們已設立”傑出員工獎”，有關這個獎項的海報和保安員服務水平評估已分派到各崗位，歡迎提名。

此獎項是表揚及獎勵傑出表現的員工。我肯定這每季頒發的傑出表現現金獎得主將會是一位以公司核心價值為本的員工 – 誠實可靠、時刻警覺及樂於助人。

service provider. Securitas (Hong Kong) welcomes Securitas (Singapore) to the every growing family and every success in continuing to

provide its professional and quality services.

Donation to Charity - Harmony House Securitas (HK) donated $1,000 in July to the charity, Harmony House which is a non profit-making organization aimed at stopping domestic violence and

building sound family values of harmony, care, mutual respect and responsibility. The charity shares similar values with Securitas as we encourage staff to

share duty, joy and passion. We are together to establish a harmonious working environment which carries over from the work place to our family’s and

our home.

New Office辦公室新貌辦公室新貌辦公室新貌辦公室新貌 With our move to Lai Chi Kok , everyone contributed to ensure the move went smoothly. The office is now implementing the 5S method of sort, straighten,

shine, standardize and sustain. Now, the office is clean, tidy and standardized. The 5s method ensures our work performance in an effective, efficient and

safe manner. To personalize the space the office has been decorated with posters showing our colleagues working at different customer sites in different

market sectors.

Excellence in Service Program傑出服務計劃傑出服務計劃傑出服務計劃傑出服務計劃 To maintain a high degree of team spirit and reward those that provide excellent performance and service quality, we

have launched the Excellence in Service Program. The program contains three awards: 1) Excellence in Service Award,

2) Best Site and 3) Long Service Award. The Excellence In Service is quarterly while the Best Site of the Year and

Long Service Award are annual awards. For those received recognition

from customers and provide long service to Securitas will have the chance

to be nominated to be awarded.

Prevention of Slip, Trip and Fall

Slip, trip and fall are the most common accidents, but with suitable

arrangement, accidents such as mis-stepping and tripping can largely be

avoided. The prevention measures are simple and do not cost money, and

will even bring other benefits.

Good working and housekeeping approach

1. Pay attention to the right working procedures

from the start. This can effectively minimize the risks of slips,

trips and falls.

2. Choose a suitable flooring material and replace or fix torn carpet

as soon as possible

3. Make sure there is adequate lighting and properly designated

working areas and passage routes to avoid collision or over-

crowding

4. Clear obstruction items, randomly placed items and wires that

lay across passages

5. When cleaning the floor and in rainy day, put up warning signs

to warn people that the floor is wet

6. Special attention should be taken when patrolling

7. Wet weather conditions affect your footing – wear correct

company approved non-slip safety shoes

1. 從一開始便注意正確工作步驟，當可更有效減低失足或絆倒的風險

2. 選擇適當的地面舖料，破爛的地毯必須盡快安排修理或更換

3. 確保有足夠照明，還須妥善安排工作範圍和行人路線，以避免碰撞或過於擠逼

4. 移去障礙物、隨意擺放的物件及橫跨通道的電線

5. 下雨天及清潔地面時須擺放吿示，提醒行人路面濕滑。

6. 巡邏時要加倍留心

7. 雨水及潮濕的天氣會容易滑倒 – 應穿著正確及公司認可的防滑安全鞋

General Safety Instructions for Manual Handling

1. To start , stand close to the object. Stand stead, and then

separate the feet by the sides of the object

2. Squat down, spreading the legs slightly, keep the back straight

and bend at the knees

3. Grasp the object tightly; make sure that it would not slip off the

hands

4. Take a breath; inflated lungs help to support the backbone

5. Lift the object by the strength of the legs. Stand up slowly until

the upstanding position is restored

6. Grasp the object tightly and close to the body

7. The lifting should be smooth and never jerk the object up. Turn

with the feet, not the waist

5. 用腿力提舉重物，慢慢站直隻腿。雙腿站直後，回復直立之姿勢

6. 緊握物件將之貼近身體

7. 提舉時，動作須流暢，切勿急劇。利用雙脚轉身，不可扭腰
