    We spent about three weeks with ou r fa milies in Nebraska before s t a r t i n g

    Since

    then,

    we

    We

    began our

    with

    Vfe also plan

    We

Our vis its among the Churches began

    with

our Living-Link Church, t he I nd ia nol a

    Church

    of Christ

    in Columbus, Ohio, of v/hich

    Bro,

    Harold

    Scott is the Minister. This

Church ha s supported our whole family since we f i r s t went to

    the Phillipines

    in

    19^7

    We spent a week

    with

    t h i s wonderful group of p eo ple in the e a r l y

    part

    of May of

    this

    year. They have

    be en w onder ful

to us in every way. They provided th e fiinds for ou r

    t r ip to

    the

    St at es

    making

i t unnecessary fo r us to make a general appeal to

    the

Churches for that money Since our return home, t he congr egat ion has voted to in

    crease

    the

    amoxmt

    of

    support

    they

    are giving to ou r

    family.

    For

    t h i s

    we are

    indeed

    g r a t e f u l .

    Our

    r el at i onshi p

    with

    t h i s

c o ng re ga ti on h as been very close. We send reg

    u l a r

f in a nc ia l r ep or ts

    to the board,

    itemizing

    a l l

    gif ts

    v/hich

    are

    received

    for

    our

    work in

    the

    P h i l l i p i n e s ,

    an d al so a l l

    expenditures.

    We

    have a

    d i r e c t

    r e s p o n s i b i l i t y

    to

    th is

    congregation an d the Campbells

    a re

di rect ly responsi bl e

    to thei r

    l ink

    churches.

    V e

    know t h a t there

    is

    no

need fo r an y mission o rg a ni za ti on o u ts id e

    th e

    l oca l

    c o n g r e g a t i o n .

    Perhaps many

    of you

    knov that

    our youngest son, Robby, came

    down with

    Rhuematic

    Fever

    j u s t about

    a

    month

    af ter

    our arr ival i n the S t a t e s .

    We

    a re thankful t h a t

    we

    caught i t before t h e r e

    was

    any h e a r t

    damage and

    a l s o that

    he

    has

    no t

    been rea l ly

    s i c k .

    He

has been in bed for the

    past

    2^ months and

    may

    have

    to stay

    in bed

    for

    some time

    yet, but he

    is g ettin g

    along

    very, very v/ell.

    The

    las t

    Doctor s report shows liim

    very

nearly back to normal in many ways and

    for that we give

    ou r

    Father thanks. W

    are indeed

    g ra te fu l f or th e prayers of a l l

    our brethren

    offered

    up

    in Hobby s behalf,

    an d

    we

    a re

    sure

    t h a t

    Ood

    has

    answered

    those

    prayers.

I Icnov that you v/ill rejoice as you read

    th e

    nev s from

    th e

    Philippines which

    Norval and Dondena Campbell have

    v/ritten. The

v ork continues to grow, and the workers

    on

th e f ie ld are

    much over

    burdened.

    We

    pray that

    they

    will

    have th e financial sup

port necessary to carry on. We are forwarding funds to the

    field,

    having sent about

    1500,00 since our

    arrival

in the States. Gifts for the work In Northern Luzon can

    either be sent directly

    to

the Campbells in Aparri, or to us at Fairfield, Nebraska.

    V e have

    several

    very important

    objectives

v hich we want to accomplish while

    v e

    are in the

    States.

    F irs t,

    is

th e ma tter of regular pledged support

    fo r

    the work in

the Philippines - gifts, pledged on a

    monthly

basis, which can be used for

    any

    phase

    of th e v/ork as

    we

see the need. This is important to th e work in Northern Luzon as

    we

try to tr a in workers and a t th e same time get those

    trained

    v/orkers into the field

    establishing

    nev Churches and strengthening the

    weak

    Churches.

    Second

    we hope to

raise funds with which to buy property and build two buildings, one for the Seminary

and one for a boys dormitory.

    We

    feel that

    this

    can be

    done fo r

    about 15,000.

Third, there are several items of eq_uipment v hich we consider

    vital

    to the work in

Northern Luzon that we v ould

    like

    to take back with us.

    One

    of these is a Multi-lith

Offset printer which would be used in publishing tracts and other materials in the

native dialect or dialects. The Jehovah s Witnesses and other groups are flooding

the country v/ith their false doctrines and

    we

need to counteract this with the printed

    truth.

    We

hope to be able to get

    some

    sort of

    light

    plant also and other smaller

    items

    v hich

v/ill be valuable to the v ork there. I can see I must bring

    this

    letter

    to a close.

    V e

    will try to send another

    one

    your

    v ay

    as soon as possible.

    We

    hope

    to be able to

    visit

    a ll

    of you

    in

    your

    home

    Churches

    and

    tell

    you

    personally of the

    v ork in the Philippines.

    e thank all

of you for the many v ays in

    v hich you

    have

    helped

    i n th e

    work

    in

    th e

    pas t .
