Gospel: Matthew 25: 14 - 30 At that time, the Lord told this parable: A man was going on a journey. He called in his servants and handed his funds over to them according to each man's abilities. To one he disbursed five thousand silver pieces, to a second two thousand, and to a third a thousand. Then he went away. Immediately the man who received the five thousand went to invest it and made another five. The man who received the two thousand doubled his figure. The man who received the thousand went off instead and dug a hole in the ground, where he buried his master's money. After a long absence, the master of those servants came home and settled accounts with them. The man who had received the five thousand came forward bringing the additional five. "My lord," he said, "You let me have five thousand. See I have made five thousand more." His master said to him, "Well done! You are an indus-trious and reliable servant. Since you were dependable in a small matter I will put you in charge of larger affairs. Come, share your master's joy!" The man who had received the two thousand then stepped forward. "My lord." he said, "you entrusted me with two thou-sand and I have made two thousand more." His master said to him, "Cleverly done! You too are an industri-ous and reliable servant. Since you were dependable in a small matter I will put you in charge of larger affairs. Come. share your master's joy!" Finally the man who had received the thousand then stepped for-ward. "My lord," he said, "I knew you were a hard man. You reap where you did not sow and gather where you did not scatter, so out of fear I went off and buried your thousand silver pieces in the ground. Here is your money back." His master exclaimed: "You worthless, lazy lout! You know I reap where I did not sow and gather where I did not scatter. All the more reason to deposit my money with the bankers, so that on my return I could have had It back with interest. You. there! Take the thousand away from him and give it to the man with the ten thousand. Those who have will get more until they grow rich, while those who have not will lose even the little they have. Throw this worthless servant into the darkness out-side, where he can wail and grind his teeth." Communion Hymn: Praise the Lord from the heav-ens, Praise Him in the highest. Alleluia! (3)

Sunday, September 4, 2016 16TH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST

Tropar, Tone 7: By your cross you destroyed death;* you opened Paradise to the thief;* you changed the lamentation of the myrrh-bearers to joy,* and charged the Apostles to proclaim* that you are risen, O Christ, our God,* offering great mercy to the world. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the

Holy Spirit, now and for ever and ever. Amen!

Kondak: No longer shall the dominion of death be able to hold humanity,* for Christ went down shatter-ing and destroying its powers * Hades is bound.* The Prophets exult with one voice.* The Savior has come for those with faith, saying:* "Come forth, O faithful, to the resurrection!" Prokimen: The Lord will give strength to His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace. Verse: Bring to the Lord, O you sons of God; bring to

the Lord young rams.

Epistle: A reading from the second Letter of the Holy Apostle Paul to the Corinthians (6:1 -10) Brothers and Sisters: As your fellow workers we beg you not to receive the grace of God in vain. For He says, "In an acceptable time I have heard you; on a day of salvation I have helped you." Now is the ac-ceptable time? Now is the day of salvation! We avoid giving anyone offense, so that our ministry may not be blamed. On the contrary, in alt that we do we strive to present ourselves as ministers of God, acting with patient endurance amid trials, difficulties, dis-tresses, heatings, imprisonments, and riots; as men familiar with hard work, sleepless nights, and fasting; conducting ourselves with innocence, knowledge, and patience, in the Holy Spirit, in sincere love as men with the message of truth and the power of God; wielding weapons of righteousness with right hand and left. whether honored or dishonored, spoken of well or ill. We are called impostors, yet we are truth-ful; nobodies who in fact are well known; dead, yet here we are alive; punished, but not put to death; sor-rowful, though we are always rejoicing; poor, yet we enrich many. We seem to have nothing. yet every-thing is ours. Alleluia Verses: ft is good to give praise to the Lord;

and to sing in Your name, O Most High.

To announce Your mercy In the morning and Your

truth every night.

Please pray for the following sick & shut-in Parishioners from BVM: "Oh God, Our Father we pray You restore to physical health those of our parishioners who

are weakened with illness, give peace of mind to those troubled with worry and comfort to

those discouraged with problems. Help them find in the days of their strength, a faith and

trust in You and a love for one another to guide them through any health challenges or

troubles they may face". Amen.

Important Announcement change of date Parish Council meeting will be on Tuesday, September 13 at 5:30 pm.

Dear Blessed Virgin Mary Parishioners: At the beginning of June we switched to our summer schedule of one Liturgy on Sundays 10:00 am. In the past we have returned to our regular schedule of two Liturgies each Sunday at the beginning of September. I have been approached by a number of parishioners who have men-tioned that they would like to continue having one bilingual sung Liturgy for the remainder of the year. I would like to survey all parishioners to ask what you would like to see for a Sunday Liturgical schedule for our church and ask you to contact me at the parish office at 204-582-7535 or by email at [email protected] to let me know your preference:

1. Regular Sunday Liturgy schedule: 9:00 am Ukrainian Liturgy (sung) and 11:30 am Lit-urgy (English).

2. One Liturgy Sunday at 10:00 am Bilingual (Sung)

3. One Liturgy Sunday at 10:00 am Bilingual (Sung), with the option of an additional Lit-urgy on Saturday or Sunday evenings (please recommend a time).

The decision to change the times of Liturgies on Sunday can come only after consultation with you, our Parishioners, and Parish Council. Please let me know your opinions.

We will continue with one Liturgy (10:00 am) until the end of September.

Yours truly,

Father V. Bashutskyy

VATICAN CITY (CNS) -- On Sunday, September 4th, 2016 Pope Francis will declare Blessed Teresa of Kolkata a saint at the Vatican. Setting the date concludes a long process of studying the live and writings of the sainthood candidate: -- Mother Teresa was widely known as a living saint as she ministered to the sick and the dying in some of the poorest neighborhoods in the world. Although some people criticized

her for not also challenging the injustices that kept so many people so poor and abandoned, her simple service touched the hearts of millions of people of all faiths. Born to an ethnic Albanian family in Skopje, in what is now part of Macedonia, she went to India in 1929 as a Sister of Loreto and became an Indian citizen in 1947. She founded the Missionaries of Charity in 1950. Shortly after she died in 1997, St. John Paul II waived the usual five-year waiting period and allowed the opening of the process to declare her sainthood. She was beatified in 2003. After her beatification, Missionary of Charity Father Brian Kolodiejchuk, the postulator of her sainthood cause, published a book of her letters, "Mother Teresa: Come Be My Light." The letters illustrated how, for decades, she experienced what is described as a "dark night of the soul" in Christian spirituality; she felt that God had abandoned her. While the letters shocked some people, others saw them as proof of her steadfast faith in God, which was not based on feelings or signs that he was with her. The date chosen for her canonization is the eve of the 19th anniversary of her death and the date previously established at the Vatican for the conclusion of the Year of Mercy pilgrimage of people like her who are engaged in works of mercy.
