together with an/a (decrease)(increase) in hull and open water efficiency of the propeller. B-The idea of PBCF of a propeller, located behind the blades, was proposed by Ouchi et al.
(Japanese) with the aim of (decreasing)(enhancing) the efficiency of the screw propeller by (augmenting)(reducing) the energy loss associated with the propeller hub vortex. In principle a number of small fins of a flat plate form and having a span of the order of (10)(30) percent of the propeller blade span are fitted at a given pitch angle to the cone of the propeller.
C-The diameter of the GVW is larger than that of the propeller, such the inner part of the vane wheel
blades acts as a (propeller)(turbine) whilst the outer part acts as (propeller)(turbine). Vane wheels in general have rather more blades than the propeller and rotate at somewhat lower speed which is of the order of (60 to 80)(30 to 50) per cent of the propeller rpm.
D-For the Mitsui-Integrated-Duct Propeller: The propeller efficiency is increased due to (acceleration)(deceleration) of the flow to the
propeller and to (reduced)(increased) required thrust because of (lower)(higher) thrust-deduction fraction. Inward radial flow around the stern creates a (positive)(negative) thrust on the duct.
