EXCEL is extending its expertise in musical theatre training to this full-time Musical Theatre Programme. Students get hands-on experience, working and studying with professional artists. Instructors are Academy graduates with a wealth of experience. Students will have ample performance opportunities and get connected to practitioners in the industry. Students who aspire to continue their studies at the Academy or overseas will also get advice from instructors.

Pearson BTEC Qualification Pearson BTEC 資格

The Pearson BTEC qualifications are widely recognized, particularly in the UK, Australia and the USA. Locally, HKAPA and various universities have declared recognition of Pearson BTEC level 4 Higher National Certificate as meeting the general entrance requirements for admission to undergraduate studies.

Pearson BTEC資格獲得廣泛認可，尤其在英國、澳洲及美國。本地方面，香港演藝學院及數所大學均承認Pearson BTEC英國國家高級證書作為基本入學要求。

Student Achievements 學員成就 Past graduates had joined Hong Kong Disneyland and Ocean Park for career develop-ment. Some are doing freelance works, doing TV commercial and performance-based works. Others are furthering their studies at the Academy or overseas.

Entry Requirement 入學資格

Secondary school graduates and those who are considering a career change are welcome to apply. Applicants must be 16 years old or above, have completed HKDSE or equivalent, and pass the subject of English Language; or non-local qualifications such as a GCE AL, IB Diploma; High School Graduation Diploma or SAT, etc.. All candidates must pass an audition. Experience in acting, singing and dancing will be an advantage.

這課程特別為中學畢業生及有志投身演藝界人士而設，學員必須年滿16歲，達香港中學文憑程度或同等程度及英文科合格；或其他非本地資格證明，如普通教育文憑(GCE)、國際文憑大學預科課程(IB)、高中畢業證書或SAT考試等。此外，所有學員必須通過面試，如有唱、跳、演的經驗者，將獲較大機會入讀本課程。

Musical Theatre Dance and Singing

音樂劇舞及歌唱訓練班

Musical Theatre is one of the most popular art forms in theatre today and a Musical Theatre performer needs to develop three performing skills; namely singing, acting and dancing. It is an energetic and happy art form.The aim of this course is to develop confidence in each participant and a better understanding of the musical theatre genre. The last lesson of the course will be a presentation performance, where participants can perform and learn from each other. Families and friends are welcome to join this session and share their achievements.For each course, the musical theatre singing instructor and the musical theatre dance instructor will coordinate and design specific musical theatre excerpts for the class to learn, rehearse and improve together. Participants will learn musical theatre singing and dance techniques and enjoy the team work of putting these techniques together to form an impressive presentation performance. Participants will experience how different people's strengths and weaknesses could be accommodated into a cohesive and inspiring whole. Through the course, participants will be able to discover their potentials, build up their confidence and enjoy a positive sense of achievement.

音樂劇是多種表演藝術的結合，為現今流行的音樂樂種之一，當中揉合了歌唱、戲劇及舞蹈等表演元素。本課程目的為發展學員的自信心及使其對音樂劇藝術有更深厚的了解。最後一課為學員演出，歡迎家人及朋友進入教室，分享他們的學習成果。每季課程開始前，音樂劇舞導師與音樂劇歌唱導師會特別設計不同的音樂劇選段給予學員一起學習、排練和進步。學員將學到音樂劇舞及音樂劇歌唱技巧，並透過團隊合作，製作出令人印象深刻的演出，從中發掘自己的潛質，建立自信心及享受過程中的成就感。

The course is not a karaoke session because (a) it is taught by one of our outstanding singing coaches, Berklee College of Music alumni, Freddy AuYeung, and (b) it also covers basic music theory and vocal pedagogy. These courses aim to guide students to develop acting techniques and inner strengths through acting exercises and the journey of self-discovery. Participants will experience the inevitable linkages between drama and reality, and will be encouraged to apply their theatrical experiences and acting techniques to their daily lives, including their individual roles at work or within their families. The objectives of this course are the same as Theatre-based Public Speaking – to use theatre based material and techniques to expand your public speaking ability – but differ in the following manner:

Participants are required to bring a ‘real time’ speech / presentation / assignment for practice & presentation.2Participants will be presenting in front of a group of guests and receive critics from them. Summative Evaluation Form: Participants will receive a evaluation form after their ‘final’ presen-tation.

It is recommended for participants to have taken EXCEL’s Theatre-based Public Speaking or have a degree of Public Speaking experience. We will revisit Phase One but primary emphasis will be on presenting sample speeches and ‘real time’ speeches / presentations / assignments. The course is conducted in small group of around 10 students to ensure ample attention is given to individual students.

* Certificate of completion will be given to students who attend at least 7 sessions. 2.) Equipment: Laptop / projector are available upon request minimum 3 days before class

The ability to speak and communicate well is an undeniable advantage in today’s competitive environment. If you want to be heard effectively, this class is for you. Using an adapted theatre rehearsal process as the learning method-ology, we will dig deep into the various techniques that will help you become an effective communicator.

Over the course of this programme, you will learn about the purpose and power of speaking. The instructor will guide you in various workshops and exercises, so you may understand your fears and learn to build self-confidence. The course will touch on a number of practical areas, including the art of self-awareness, body language and voice work. Through engaging your emotions, you will learn to connect with your audience and deliver a powerful speech. This is an experiential course where you will have ample opportunity to apply the techniques to your own speech. At the end of the course, you will walk away with a rehearsed speech that you can deliver with increased confidence.

It is a fine mix of good personal and interpersonal communication skills and practical skills that are vital in holding togeth-er all types of people (not forgetting the audience too!) in all the different departments.Students should understand some of the fundamental techniques of stage management. The course includes a session for participants to practice at a theatre. 舞台管理的工作，簡單來說就是把演出者與後台製作人員連結起來，協助劇場不同製作部門的人員一起合作完成演出。因此，舞台管理人員須有良好的人際溝通技巧及舞台管理技巧。學員完成此課程後，將掌握一些基本的舞台管理技巧，亦有機會於劇場學習，以瞭解劇場的運作。

Instructor 導師：LEUNG Migu 梁景顥This course offers training in both theory and practice aspects, and aims to equip participants with concepts and operation techniques for basic sound systems. Participants will learn different components of a sound system, such as the mixing console, equalizer, effect processor, and others. Participants will also be introduced to the production progress of performance, and how to bring about the best sound effect. A traditional folk-art in China, paper cuttings have special significance at festivals and important ceremonies. They are chiefly used for religious purposes or decoration, with animals, flowers and patterns representing happiness and prosperity as the common designs. Especially popular in the countryside, the bright red or multi-coloured paper cuts provide a strong foil to set off a merry atmosphere.

Learning the art of paper cutting requires not only a pair of nimble hands, but also patience and concentration in order to cut out the delicate designs from small pieces of paper. In the course, participants will learn the basic techniques of cutting various classical patterns and figures. They will also be encouraged to exercise their imaginations and create their own paper cut designs through the chattering of a pair of scissors.

This course will introduce the developmental history, style and works of paper cutting, and the pictorial explanation of the various patterns. Students will also learn fundamental paper cutting techniques. Most paper cutting patterns are designed according to the four seasonal changes and their related images. Festival imageries may also be included in the design. A pair of special scissors will be provided in the first lesson, which MUST be returned to EXCEL upon completion of the course. HK$100 will be collected as deposit fee in the first lesson. Failure to return the scissors will be subject to a penalty of HK$100.

* Paper cutting patterns may vary depending on the progress of the class.中國人每遇上大時節或喜慶日子，總愛把紅紅金金的揮春和對聯貼滿牆壁、門檻上，取其熱熱鬧鬧、喜氣洋洋的意頭。而內地的一些�村裡，村民為了延續傳統的節日習俗，更會將紅色的揮春紙，剪成形形色色的吉祥圖案或動物造型。你知道剪紙也有南、北派別和風格之分嗎？你何曾想過剪紙上的花朵數目也代表著不同的�意嗎？

剪紙的學習，不但講求手的靈活運用；剪紙者要付出相當的能耐和專注，才能把趣緻可愛的製成品活現人前。只要稍一不留神，用力過大或剪過了頭，蝴蝶便斷了翅膀，花兒也折了枝幹，可惜非常。課堂中，除了學習基本技巧外，學員將按照導師的指示並發揮想像，把心目中的圖案預先畫到剪紙上，嘗試創作多變的圖樣。

導師將跟學員暢談各種剪紙圖案的由來及�意；透過作品的賞識，學員可認識到剪紙藝術的歷史、派別、風格和文化內涵。至於剪紙圖案方面，將以春夏秋冬四季特色及不同節日來設計。課程費用已包括剪紙材料費用。學員須於第一堂繳付港幣$100元正作為保證金。學員如未能歸還學院所派發的剪刀，將不獲退回保證金。
