Dear  St.  Mark’s  Partners,

I  am  convinced  that  IMAGINE  is  a  GOD-INSPIRED  MISSION!    It  is

certainly  inspiring  to  see  how  St.  Mark’s  has  moved  steadfastly  forward  to

provide  space  to  expand  our  mission.  And  God  has  inspired  many  of  you

bring  us  to  this  point.

Evidence  of  our  determination  to  follow  God’s  will  is  all  around  us.  We  are  inconvenienced  by  the

construction  and  sometimes  wonder  when  the  mess  will  end.  At  the  same  time  we  are  elated  to  be  building

the  kingdom  of  Christ.  I,  and  others  on  the  staff,  have  been  praying  and  imagining  all  the  exciting  and

opportunity  and  thankful  to  everyone  who  made  it  possible.

with  people  of  all  ages,  engaged  in  ministries  of  all  sorts.  But  to  do  that  we  need  to  equip  and  furnish  our

space,  and  that  is  what  this  booklet  is  about.

This  IMAGINE  Designated  Giving  Booklet  features  furnishings  and  equipment  needed  for  us  to  utilize

our  enlarged  and  beautifully  enhanced  space  to  its  full  potential.  Please  review  the  items  listed  and  then

give  toward  those  which  have  special  interest  and  meaning  to  you.  There  are  needed  items  related  to  all

areas  of  our  ministries  with  a  wide  range  of  costs.  We  pray  that  people  will  invest  at  all  levels  according

to  their  ability  and  that  all  giving  is  from  the  heart  –  the  heart  of  a  generous  disciple.

Read  the  giving  guidelines  at  the  beginning  of  this  booklet  and  if  you  are  still  uncertain  about  what

you  would  like  to  donate  or  how  to  do  it,  please  contact  Kathy  Toborg  (350-4884)  or  David  Hagstrom

(447-0100)  for  further  assistance.

of  us  who  love  him  (I  Corinthians  3:7).  Thank  you  for  your  continued  partnership  and  support  of  St.  Mark’s.

Pastor  Perry  Fruhling

How You Can Contribute

54

To make a gift, please complete the commitment card enclosed and submit it to the church office along with your donation. If you are unable to include your

donation at that time, please submit it by February 28, 2011 or contact the office for other arrangements. Your timely support will allow us to order the necessary items so they are here when we need them.

If you wish to give something that is not in the booklet, we thank you for your kindness, but your gift will have to be pre-approved by the Designated Giving Team. Please contact Kathy Toborg at (319) 350-4884 for information.

For your record-keeping purposes, please know that your designated gift is a new gift to IMAGINE and will not be recorded as part of your initial IMAGINE response.

If, by February 28, 2011, an item in the Other Important Items or Additional Wish List categories has not been fully funded, the IMAGINE Capital Appeal leaders may, at their discretion, reallocate the monies given toward that item to purchase other Highest Priority items. Similarly, if an item is over-subscribed, the IMAGINE Capital Appeal leaders may, at their discretion, reallocate the excess monies given toward that item to purchase other Highest Priority items.

Keeping You Updated

The Designated Giving Team will keep the congregation informed as this phase of IMAGINE progresses. The items that have been funded and the running total of gifts will be communicated and displayed throughout the months to come.

We appreciate the prayerful consideration you’ve given to these requests. If you have questions or comments please contact David Hagstrom at 447-0100 or Kathy Toborg at 350-4884.

A Note About the Photos – Most photos contained in this book are for illustration purposes only and may not represent the exact item being purchased. Not all items are pictured.

How to Use This Guide – The items pictured correspond to numbered descriptions on the facing pages. Smaller items may be grouped. The pricing on those items may represent the cost of several items together.

A Note About Pricing – Each area of ministry within the church was responsible for establishing a list of needed items and then researching appropriate pricing for those items. While there is certain to be some variance in the final cost of items, pricing in this booklet has been carefully reviewed.

This booklet is for those who live generously and look for opportunities to give with thanks, joy and purpose. Throughout these pages we’ve described

furnishings and equipment that are needed for St. Mark’s new spaces so that they can be fully functional when we occupy our enhanced facility. The furnishings and equipment featured here have been well researched for function, quality, cost and aesthetics.

Areas of Ministry

Just as our mission story for expansion was divided into areas of ministry for the IMAGINE capital appeal, so are our interior furnishings and equipment needs:

• Reaching & Hospitality p. 6

• Worship p. 8

• Discipling p. 11

• Connect – Fellowship, Conference & Gathering Areas p. 12

• Children’s Ministry p. 14

• Youth Ministry p. 18

• Equipping p. 22

Each ministry area has a “Highest Priority” section that lists items that are viewed by the staff and volunteer leaders as essential to carry out our expanded ministry and mission plan. Donations for Highest Priority items reduce our loan obligations because we will not have to purchase these items with borrowed funds.

Something for Everyone

This phase of IMAGINE empowers you to show your faith in a personal way. You can designate your gift to a specific ministry or any item that is meaningful to you.

To better personalize your options, we’ve included items at different levels of support. The desired items encom-pass a wide range of costs – from $100 up to $250,000. In cases where multiple numbers of an item are needed, your gift may purchase one of the items or as many as you like, up to the total number needed.

For Example: The new worship center will need 321 chairs each costing $285. You may purchase a single chair or any incremental number up to the entire lot of 321.

The cost of the largest items (those costing $30,000 or more) will be divided into shares of $10,000. We did this to avoid receiving numerous smaller gifts that, in the end, would total far less than the actual cost of the item. A donor may purchase one share or any number of shares up to the total number needed to purchase that item.

For Example: The budget for an organ in the new worship center is $250,000. The cost has been divided equally into 25 shares of $10,000 each.

Another way we’d like to ensure there is something of interest to everyone is through the categories called “Other Important Items” and “Additional Wish Lists.” Perhaps something on these lists will speak to your heart.
