strategies framework
DESCRIPTION
The aim of the Māori, Pacific and Youth Strategies is to improve achievement for these particular groups of students. The strategies have been combined into an integrated framework so that they can be implemented together as much as possible, ensuring this is efficient and effective. Goals from the individual strategies were analysed to tease out the important themes that thread through all of the strategies. The themes are: Pathways for Learning, Partnerships for Learning, Research for Teaching and Learning, Support for Students as Learners, Staff as Learners and Leaders, Physical and Virtual Learning Environment. These six themes provide direction and a consistent approach to the implementation plan and enable the activities described in the different strategies to be grouped together.TRANSCRIPT
STRATEGIES IMPLEMENTATION FRAMEWORK
BACKGROUND
The aim of the Māori, Pacific and Youth Strategies is to improve achievement for these particular groups of students.
The strategies have been combined into an integrated framework so that they can be implemented together as much as possible, ensuring this is efficient and effective. Goals from the individual strategies were analysed to tease out the important themes that thread through all of the strategies. The themes are: Pathways for Learning, Partnerships for Learning, Research for Teaching and Learning, Support for Students as Learners, Staff as Learners and Leaders, Physical and Virtual Learning Environment. These six themes provide direction and a consistent approach to the implementation plan and enable the activities described in the different strategies to be grouped together.
The framework is illustrated by a diagram that shows “Learner Success” as the focal point of the six themes. The Māori, Pacific and Youth Strategies and Foundation are shown as going across all of these themes.
The diagram is followed by an overview of each theme. The overview includes key aspirational statements developed to help staff envisage a future with the strategies fully implemented. Each overview also shows the relevant goals from the individual strategies as well as additional points relevant to Foundation.
COMBINED OUTCOMES EXPECTED FROM THE STRATEGIES
Learner success measured by increased participation, progression and achievement.
Research capability, recognised nationally and internationally.
Effective teaching and learning practice, underpinned by research and supported by professional development and self‐evaluation
practices.
Framework developed by Strategies Leaders and Administrator (Gillian Candler, Louise Falepau, Willis Katene, Ria Tomoana, Debbie Wipani) June 2011
