SWITCHAsia Networking Conference: “Advancing energy efficiency in Asia through SCP and Green Finance” Press Release Coverage Report_Jakarta Headline : Lifestyle Changes Emphasize to Consumption Publication : Kompas Newspaper Date : July 8, 2015 Page : 13 JAKARTA, KOMPAS Efficient energy consumption can extend the life of existing energy resources currently, so the people can continue to enjoy the energy in the future. With energysaving behavior, every household could also reducing energy consumption by up to 35 percent. Coordinator of Supporting Component for Regional Policy SWITCHAsia Programme at the same time representative of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Sabin Basnyat, deliver it ahead of time of the conference "Advancing Energy Efficiency in Asia through SCP and Green Finance", on Tuesday (7/7), in Jakarta. "You can start by turning off the lights each left the room," He said. The public can also play a role by always buying energysaving products, especially the products more cheaply. For example, LED lights are extremely energy efficient, currently for the price around 2 dollars, whereas 5 years ago could reach 60 dollars. Another example, make sure the temperature on the air conditioner (AC) did not reach the level of the coldest, but quite at a moderate level. Basnyat added that the activities were very low, but the effectiveness to decrease energy use in household by 35 percent. The key is not to use the energy, but more energy efficient. Widespread of Energyefficient lifestyle increase demand for energyefficient products that will encourage the industry to expand the product. The impact, it can also improve the efficiency of national energy consumption. According to the Director of Energy Conservation of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Farida Zed, the experiences of some countries shown that energy efficiency programs pressing national energy consumption up to 1540 percent. "For Indonesia, we expect in 2020 can be achieve up to 10 percent energy savings," She said. (JOG)

Farida  added,  the  industry  that  is  currently  the  focus  of  the  government's  efficiency  program  is  the  domestic  cement  industry,  such  as  Semen  Gresik  and  Semen  Padang.    "Because  this  is  not  a  new  industry.  Today  we  see  the  practices  that  have  been  successful  in  various  countries  that  we  can  transfer  to  our  country  and  can  be  supported  by  banking,"  She  said.    Banks   will   also   be   towed   to   provide   financing   to   small   entrepreneurs.   The   focus   is   the  procurement  of  machines  that  can  save  energy.    "So   the   banks   can   help   procurement,   then   returns   either   through   savings.   For   example,  originally   they   use   Rp.100,-‐   and   then   only   need   Rp.50,-‐.   The   differences   can   be   use   to  restore  the  pay-‐back,"  She  said.
