12010-12410-12810Most Cisco 12010, Cisco12410, and Cisco 12810series routers field-replaceable units (FRUs)can be removed andreplaced with the power onand the system operating.This is known as onlineinsertion and removal(OIR). Power supplies, linecards, the RP, CSCs, SFCs,and alarm cards all supportOIR. Unless otherwisenoted, the maintenancetasks described in thischapter can be performedwhile the router remains

powered on.In some cases it may benecessary to power off therouter, for example, toupgrade both powersupplies and PDUs. Use thefollowing procedure to

power off the router.



12012The RP must be installed inupper card cage slot 0. Ifyou have two RPs in yourCisco 12012, the second

RP must be installed in slot11 (from left to right). Thefactory configuration hasthe RP installed in slot 0.Line cards installed in theCisco 12012 support onlineinsertion and removal(OIR)

7505The Cisco 7505 has fiveslots: four interface

7507The Cisco 7507 has sevenslots: interface processorslots 0 and 1, Route

Switch Processor slots 2and 3, and interface processor slots 4 through6. The Cisco 7507supports 5 VIPs, one foreach interface processorslot.

7513The Cisco 7513 has 13slots: interface processorslots 0 through 5, RouteSwitch Processor (RSP2,RSP4/4+, RSP8, orRSP16) slots 6 and 7, and

interface processor slots 8through 12. The Cisco7513 supports 11 VIPs,one for each interface

processor slot.

7576The backplane of theCisco 7576 has 13 slots.Router A uses interface

processor slots 0 through 5



with a Route SwitchProcessor (RSP4/4+ orRSP8) in slot 6. Router Buses interface processorslots 8 through 12 with a

Route Switch Processor(RSP4/4+ or RSP8) in slot7. The Cisco 7576supports 10 VIPs, one foreach interface processorslot; 6 VIPs are supportedin Router A and 5 VIPsare supported in Router B.
