Coal mines in southwest China are difficult mining which mostly belong to the low, steeply

pitching and faults reserved coal seam; experts of HOT are the people who have many

years’ experience in low coal seam mechanised mining and production management

engineers from Chongqing Coal Group, Sichuan Coal Group and Yunnan Coal Chem

Company, etc.

Coal mining machine experts: Xiang-Dong Liu, he is awarded special government

allowances by State Department, one of the first batches of specialized technical

talented person of the original ministry of coal industry. He is the 2013 national coal

machinery industry outstanding chief engineer and he awarded second prize of

Technology Progress of the original ministry of coal industry. Mr. Liu is the founder of

coal shearer OEM factory of HOT Mining, The independent director of HOT, the

Chongqing Coal Group consulting expert group leader. He has more than 30 years’s

experience in research and development of low seam coal mining machine and fully-

mechanized longwall complete implementation.

Thin coal seam fully-mechanized management expert: Prior to join HOT Mining, Mr.

Da-hui Yang, he is deputy general manager of Yunnan Coal Chem Company and

external expert of HOT. He has nearly 40 years’ experience of coal mine production

management. He guided Housuo Coal Mine and other similar projects to complete

successful implementation of low coal seam fully mechanized.

Fully-mechanized complete implementation and chief mining engineer: Fei Mao.

He has many years’s experience in underground coal mining management, equipment

sourcing, equipment maintenances and technical development in the field of low coal

seam mining. He is cooperating with BHP Billiton, Vale and Guangdong Rising Group,

with rich experience in several large mines’s geological exploration, resource

evaluation (Australian Standard JORC) and mining acquisitions. Mr. Mao is the

youngest Chinese member of Australian Coal Association.

Technology - Cantilever Roof Support

It takes about 1~2 minutes to finish the whole 3 steps, which is equaled to

the fully mechanized longwall mining.

Features - Cantilever Roof Support

1. Large Supporting Area

Because the top beam section is integral box-type structure with dimension of 0.96m width

and 2.6m length. The supporting area is more than 96%, which is same as fully

mechanized longwall mining support, so the support can be used in broken roof working

face. And there will be no roof leakage of high-grade working face and cantilever roof

support working face.

2. Fast Advancing Support Speed

The advancing velocity of working face is faster due to the simple moving method. And it

can absolutely meet the speed requirement of mechanized mining working face.

It takes about 1~2 minutes to finish the whole 3 moving steps, which is equaled to the fully

mechanized longwall mining.

3. Good Stability

Because full working face is linked as a whole through the beam system, it has good

stability, working face can make sure the support will not fall. If there is head space above

certain support or it is not supported well, overall moving beam and top beam suspension

system make it will not fall, so the working face completely avoid the phenomenon of

support’ s skew and fall, security is greatly increased.

Developed bottom climbing electric traction shearer ，for the first time achieved a minimum limit of

thin seam mining height 0.45m mechanized mining.

目前，对于超薄煤层的机械化开采，最薄0.45米厚即可实施机械化开采技术。

The application of the technology, coal face yields 1.8 times, mining efficiency increased by

3.38 times, tons of coal production cost was reduced by 63%.

在重煤集团、川煤集团等超薄煤层实施机械化开采后，每个工作面的平均产能提升1.8倍，开采

效率提升3.38倍。吨煤开采运行成本降低了63%。

Developed with our domestic partners, HOT-mining firstly realized the integrated and

mechanized mining technology for the edge seams（35-55°）.
