Well done!
YEAR 6 – GREAT AUSSIE BUSH CAMP
The Year 6 children are currently having a fabulous
time at camp. When joining their start to camp on
Wednesday, I was particularly impressed with the
level of encouragement and support they were
giving each other during activities.
It was positive seeing them all challenge themselves
and have a go.
Ms Kortekaas joined the group yesterday and had a
great time working alongside the kids on the giant
swing. There also looked like a teachers’ competition
up the rock-climbing wall.
Thank you to Miss Dickson, Mrs Clinton and Mr
Freeman for giving the children such an enjoyable
experience.

EAGLE TAG GALA DAY
Well done to our senior and junior teams that
competed last week in the Eagle Tag Gala Day. All
teams performed very well with the two junior teams
progressing to the zone final.
Thank you to Mr Sutherland, Mr Prime, Mr Bowden and
Mrs Hendriks for coaching and working with the teams
at the competition.
THANK YOU – P&C
Last week was the final P&C meeting for the year. I
would like to extend my sincere thanks to the
hardworking and dedicated parents who have made
many contributions throughout 2019 to help our
school community through our parent body.
Without the committee, many services for families
would not be able to operate. Thank you to the
executive team and all committee members for
volunteering to help make a difference.
Next year the P&C are looking for more parents to join
the committee and take on executive roles to help
continue the great work already underway.

Year 6 Bizarre Bazaar The Year 6 major fundraiser will be held on Tuesday,
10 December between recess and lunch. This is a
time for Year 6 to work collaboratively to run a mini-
fete with profits being used to purchase a gift to
remember them by.
Of course we will be running a trash and treasure
stall so if you have any toys, books or ‘bric a brac’ in
good condition please send it in to the 6D classroom.
Start saving your coins everyone for a day of fun
games, great treats and yummy food!
It’s a mufti day as well (for a gold coin donation
collected 9.00am on the day) so wear your favourite
clothes and add a touch of Christmas to get into the
holiday spirit!

2019 MANLY WARRINGAH EAGLE TAG COMPETITION
Last Thursday, 133 primary students represented
Narrabeen North Public School in the Manly
Warringah Eagle Tag Gala Day. We had a hugely
successful day with 4 teams qualifying for their
respective finals. The Junior Girls and Boys who both
won their grand finals against Harbord Public School
and both qualified for the Champions of Champions.
Special mention to the Year 6 players on the day
who led by example and assisted others regarding
game times and field locations (Pictured).
The Junior Boys and Junior Girls took part in the
Champions of Champions held at Forestville Park.
The Junior Boys were successful and took out the
Eagle Tag Championship against Mimosa Public
School whilst the girls went down to Manly Vale
Public School in a great display of skill and
determination.
Congratulations to both teams on this outstanding
achievement.

Bee Well… FOCUS OF THE WEEK: CONFIDENCE
Building children’s confidence allows them to have a
go at and try new things.
It allows them to develop social and emotional
learning skills and tackle new tasks, even when they
might be daunting or completely new. Confidence
improves through building on small successes.
You can support children when you:
explain that skills develop with practice
make sure that goals are achievable by breaking
down large tasks or responsibilities into small steps
scaffold their learning and help when necessary,
without taking over
encourage them to persist when they don’t
succeed straightaway
praise effort, persistence and individual
improvement
acknowledge what they’ve done well and not so
well
arrange safe and interesting spaces where
they’re free to explore and see the effects of their
actions
answer their questions appropriately – sometimes
you won’t know the answer, and that’s OK
ask them questions to help them solve problems
and promote further learning
help them experience that learning is fun
use rewards and praise selectively, focusing on
the child's effort rather than the outcome.

BAND TOUR 2019
The Performance Band went on a
band tour for three days with
Belrose PS, 18 to 20 November. This
was their second year of travelling
together, and involved going
down to the South Coast
The tour began with a performance at The Rocks
next to the Modern Art Gallery, with the bonus of a
cruise ship sailing in as the bands were playing. Both
bands had a chance to play several songs
separately as well as combined pieces.
The children visited schools whose populations were
so small they would not have access to a band
program – Coledale, Kangaroo Valley and Kangaroo
Valley. The students at these schools were given the
opportunity to join in with percussion instruments, as
well as dancing to some disco highlights.
Our accommodation at Kiah Ridge, near Bargo, was
quiet and peaceful with kangaroos hopping about.
Fabulous food was provided, and many positive
comments were made by the staff regarding how
well the children behaved and cleaned up after
themselves. Some fun activities included the
trombone players trying to coax the cows in a
paddock to come closer, as well as nearly being
blown away by the wind at Kiama Blowhole.
Our last performance was at a nursing home in
Bowral which the audience thoroughly enjoyed,
proving music is magical throughout the ages. The
children were so well behaved and are to be
congratulated on their fabulous playing. We look
forward to next year’s tour!
