The University Museum and Art Gallery of the University of Hong Kong presents the Chinese painting exhibition Tradition to Contemporary: Ink Painting and Artistic Development in 20th-century China. Curated from artworks within the museum’s permanent collection, the exhibition will be open to the public from 24 August through 18 November 2018. Works trace the evolution of ink painting in Hong Kong, and include many of the masters that have helped to build the city’s art scene and museum collections.

UMAG’s exhibition makes reference to individuals and their networks, to teacher-student relationships and to the generosity of the numerous painters who have helped us to grow the museum’s holdings, and whose work constitutes the foundation of our educational work today. 香港大學美術博物館展出中國繪畫展覽《鑑古賞今——二十世紀中國的水墨與藝術發展》。是次展覽於 2018 年8 月 24 號 至 11 月 18 號 舉 行， 向 公 眾展示本館的永久館藏。作品追溯了香港本土水墨畫的演變，當中包括多位協助建立起城市藝術風采和博物館藏品的大師。

香港大學美術博物館的展覽涉及藝術家個人及其網絡、師生之間的關係；因著不計其數的畫家的慷慨，本館的館藏得以發展，他們的作品構成了本館今日教育工作的基石。自 1950 年代向公眾展出館藏伊始，本館即與這些畫家和他們的作品緊密相連，並積極記錄了藝術家們的天賦和香港藝術風采。特此我們向至關重要的捐贈者——藝術家及收藏家——致以誠摯謝意，感謝他們的慷慨，且願意同行這段非同凡響的旅程。我們也要向香港大學博物館學會致謝，感謝他們對是次展覽的大力支持。
