Introducción ¡Hola! Damos comienzo al Curso de Inglés Imprescindible.Este curso brinda las herramientas básicas para des-envolverse en situaciones comunicativas de encuen-tro con personas extranjeras.

Trabajaremos a partir de las siguientes situaciones comunicativas:

• Conocer a alguien, saludar y presentarse.• Hacer y responder preguntas personales.• Ir de compras.• Ordenar una comida• Pedir y ofrecer indicaciones de cómo llegar a un lugar.

Para ello podrán acceder en cada tema a material de referencia a partir del cual podrán resolver las ac-tividades propuestas. También encontrarán un link a un video que los ayudará a practicar y afianzar el vocabulario aprendido. En caso de que no puedan visualizar los subtítulos de algún video, pueden ac-tivarlos haciendo click en el ícono que se encuentra debajo (ver imagen).

Al final de cada unidad, encontrarán las respuestas de todas las actividades.

Unidad 05:Ordenar una comida

En esta unidad veremos el vocabulario referido a comer (desayunar, almorzar, o cenar) ya sea en un restaurant, en un lo-cal de comida rápida, bar al paso o pues-to de comida.

Para ello, además de los nombres de los alimentos y bebidas, es importante cono-cer ciertas palabras y frases que podemos utilizar tanto para preguntar acerca de un plato, pedir la carta, la cuenta, pagar.

También repasaremos el uso de la es-tructura equivalente al verbo “haber” en español: there is/ there are.

La construcción “there is / there are” equivale al espa-ñol “hay”. Se utiliza con el mismo significado, pero la diferencia está en que en inglés debemos hacer dis-tincion entre singular (is) y plural (are). Por otra par-te, siguiendo las reglas gramaticales del inglés, para realizar una pregunta es necesario invertir el orden: “is there..?” / “are there..?”

El español, por el contrario, no hace tal distinción. Si comparamos:Hay un libro.Hay varios libros.¿Hay algún libro?El verbo “hay” se mantiene invariable.Sin embargo en inglés los equivalentes serian:Hay un libro = There is a book.Hay varios libros = There are some books.¿Hay algún libro? = Is there a book?

Unidad 06:Pedir y ofrecer indica-ciones de cómo llegar a un lugar

En esta última unidad veremos cómo pe-dir y ofrecer ayuda o indicaciones en la calle para llegar a algún lugar, preguntar por sitios de interés, negocios, etc. Tam-bién veremos cómo describir el uso del transporte público en una ciudad, para lo cual tomaremos Rosario como ejemplo. Tendrán como referencia vocabulario para referirse a lugares en una ciudad, medios de transporte y preposiciones que indican lugar.

Es importante, tanto para dar como para comprender indicaciones, ser breve y preciso. También es importante apoyarse en otros elementos no lingüísticos (ges-tos, mapas, etc.). Si bien actualmente las nuevas tecnologías facilitan mucho reco-rrer las ciudades, a veces no tenemos por ejemplo conexión a internet. Otras veces no encontramos toda la información que buscamos. No sólo pedimos indicaciones en la calle. También preguntamos dónde está el baño en un restaurant, dónde está ubicado el gimnasio dentro del ho-tel, o dónde están los probadores en una tienda, etc. Por eso estas frases serán de gran utilidad.
