The 19 World Cup tournaments have been won by eight different national teams. How many examples of our Core Values can you spot in this edition? Please see your teacher if you have any questions Monday 16 June: Reception dress up day – Bugs and Monsters Tuesday 17 June: Year 3 Fantasy Island Exhibition 2.30 – 4pm, parents invited: NB change of date Wednesday 18 June: Year 4 and 5 Bright Sparks dress up day Thursday 19 June: FoBVPS cake sale in playground after school – Reception children please provide cakes Friday 20 June: Guitar and drumming performance for Year 4 and 5 9.15am – parents of children in Year 4 and 5 invited Friday 20 June: Chestnut class to Oathall School for multi- skills workshop 11.30am – 12.45pm Friday 20 June: SCHOOL DISCO Reception/KS1: 4 – 5.30pm KS2: 6 – 7.30pm Tickets available in the playground next week YEAR 5 TRANSITION: Junior Sports Leadership Award (JSLA) students from Warden Park Secondary Academy came and ran some sports workshops with us this week, the children played Dodgeball, Benchball and Rounders Sandals: Please read the update letter on sandals in school Class Organisation 2014-15 Reception EYFS Apple (30) and Cherry (30), Key Stage 1 Year 1 Maple (30), Year 1/2 Chestnut (30), Year 2 Hazel (30) Key Stage 2 Year 3 (30), Year 3/4 (30), Year 4 (30), Year 5 (30), Year 6 (30). Mixed year group classes are organised predominantly by age. Class teachers will be confirmed on 11 July in assembly with the children and in Reports. Well done to all our fantastic athletes. You were brilliant sportsmen and we were proud of the way you supported each other throughout the day. Thank you to all the parents who came along to this event – it really had a great atmosphere. It was just like being at the World Cup! Congratulations to ‘Air’, who won the infant event and and and and the junior event! Huge Thank You Huge Thank You Huge Thank You Huge Thank You Many thanks to Mrs Allen, Mr Maker, Miss Warren, Mr Thring, Mrs Ottaway, Mrs Andrews, Mrs Clark, Audrey, Mr Allen and all the children who helped make our exhibit at the South of England Show such a great success. We had many visitors to our stand who were most impressed by what we do. A special well done to Abigail and Meredith who were super salesmen and helped us to raise £332.17 in donations. Each class visited the exhibition and the parents came along to find out all about their child’s learning. Pops, Our Chair of Governors, was very excited by what he saw: “The children’s displays of work and costumes had obviously been put together with such enthusiasm and great research – well done to all.” Jean Griffen from South East in Bloom came to judge our flower displays this week. Well done to Mrs Page and all of our gardeners who helped us to create such fabulous displays. We’ll let you know how we did. Please let the office know if you do not wish your child to take part. Mrs Page invited School Councils from schools all over the locality to come and visit us and look at how we work together. They had a learning walk around the school and took part in workshop activities where they shared ideas from their own schools. After refreshments, there was a presentation by the local Mayor and her colleague about how the council would like to work with schools. The children were asked to give her ideas about how they can all work together. This was followed by a question and answer session. The Mayor was very impressed with how the children worked and said: “It was lovely to see another council and I was interested to see how similar it was to how a real council is run. You should all be very proud.”
