variation order is:
An instruction that an architect gives to the builder concerning any variations to the original building contract. If, for example, acontract to build a room to the amount of R50000 were drawn up and the homeowner decided to substitute aluminiumwindows for the wooden ones specified in the contract, the architect would issue a variation order, instructing the buildingcontractor to change the windows and to alter the amount specified in the contract accordingly.
Variation orders are also made by the courts. For example, a court may order a reduction or increase in the maintenancepayable to a divorced spouse, or vary any other court order when a good cause for the change has been shown. The change order is the result of altering the original order and became the bounding agreement after both parties agreeupon it.
Anonymous:They are the same thing. The term Charge Order was coined in the United States and is used over there to deal with changeoccuring during construction. The term Variation Order was coined in the United Kingdom to deal also with change occurringduring construction and it is used throuught their various contract forms used in the UK like ICE7, JCT98 and the like. FIDICadopted the term "Variation", which means the same thing.

Anonymous:When you go through any Contract Documents relevant to the topic particularly in Construction Industry, it'll give you differentopinion / meaning but in the end, it has the same / similar meaning. However, to shed a light and make it direct to the point, asper FIDIC clause it says:
Change Order will be considered "if there is no cost implication means alterations / modifications / changes fromthe Original Contract / Scope of Work can be done with the same cost as per Original contract.Variation Order will be considered "if there will be a cost implication (deduction / addition) against the Original
Contract / Scope of Work."

I beg to disagree. Both refers to the same situation. The use of the term Change order or Variation order depends on what isstated in the terms and conditions of the Contract. A simple way to understand this terms anything that is different from theoriginal terms and conditions of the contract relating to schedule, cost or specifications. For example, a Contractor wasinstructed to delete items 4.5 to 5.1 and to add new items 15.1 to 17.5 resulting in no cost impact. This is still a chnage orderbut with no cost implication.

Anonymous I know in the US they consider more important the J.D. than a LLM. As a LLM graduatein Ukraine I think you could get some job as of counsel in a law firm with businesses with Ukrainiancorporations or that deals with international law
