Enjoyment of seas, islands and coastlines

An archipelago of over 280 islands, and 800 kilometers of mostly natural coastline, Hong Kong has the opportunity to be the boating capital in Asia. The recognition for Hong Kong’s coastline have increased with the Geo Parks initiative and discussions over Tai Long Sai Wan, increasing the hiring of leisure boats, and tours;

香港 800 公里中大部份的海岸線都是天然形成 , 加上座擁超過 280 個島嶼 , 絕對具備成為亞洲船艇之都的條件。隨著人們對地質公園的倡議及大浪西灣所帶來的討論 , 不但提高了大眾對香港海岸線的認識 , 同時促使旅遊及休閒遊艇租借量不斷上升 ;

Enjoyment of seas, islands and coastlines

• It is no surprise, people in Hong Kong no longer believe the enjoyment of leisure marine activities is their right.

• 90% of the population, who can’t afford membership fees of a marina, have no place to store their boat safely, and no place to get on and off a boat.

• Small boat owners overseas have a trailer to put the boat on and a yard to keep it in. In Hong Kong you can’t take a canoe in the MTR, mini bus, elevator, or flat.

• In Hong Kong we need public marine centres and piers on the waterfront so that the community can enjoy Hong Kong’s magnificent waters at a low cost.

Latent Demand for over 13,000 small boats

• Comparison of the profile of vessels owned in Hong Kong and other countries where low costs public berths are available indicate that there is another latent demand for 13,000 low cost berths to cater for affordable small vessels (16-25ft).
