ADVISORY
As a result of the federal “No Child Left Behind” (NCLB) requirements, elementary teacher credential candidates admitted to a program after July 1, 2004 will be required to pass the CSET Multiple Subject Examination prior to enrollment in advanced student teaching and prior to obtaining a multiple subject credential in California.
MSAT Scores are valid for 5 years.
The last valid MSAT exam date is
January 11, 2003.
Because of NCLB teacher employment requirements for school districts, it is essential for ALL multiple subject teaching candidates to pass the CSET in order to be viable candidates for public school teaching positions. All candidates are advised to take and pass the CSET, even if their timeline for credential completion does not require it for issuance of the credential.
