In my first account, Theophilus, I dealt with all that Jesus did and taught until the day he was taken up to heaven, having first instructed the apostles he had chosen through the Holy Spirit. In the time after his suffering he showed them in many convincing ways that he was alive, appearing to them over the course of forty days and speaking to them about the reign of God. On one occasion when he met with them he told them not to

Відкриття Дверей Милосердя у нашому храмі Дорогі у Христі! 8 грудня 2015 року, у свято Непорочного Зачаття Пречис-тої Діви Марії, папа Римський Франциск відкрив Святі Двері собору Святого Пе-тра. Таким чином понтифік офіційно розпочав надзвичайний Ювілейний Рік Бо-жого Милосердя, який завершиться 20 листопада 2016 року. Папа прагне, аби в цей Рік Милосердя, якомога більше людей могли скористатися даром милосердя і отримали повний відпуст -повне прощення кари за гріхи. Згідно декрету Митрополита Стефана Сороки, для отримання відпусту у Ювілей Милосердя будуть відкриті “Двері Милосердя” у вибраних храмах Філа-дельфійської Архиєпархії. Наша церква св. Івана Хрестителя в Нюарку (Нью-Джерзі) була призначена митрополитом відпустовим місцем, для того, щоб вірні та гості отримали від Господа дари милосердя. Згідно з традицією церкви, відте-пер і впродовж всього року, кожен хто висповідається та прийме Святе Причас-тя, і з вірою пройде скрізь ці двері нашого храму, зможе отримати повний від-пуст гріхів. Однак, застерігаємо, що двері є лише символом. І не достатньо прос-то пройти крізь двері і все - (ніби автоматично гріхи будуть відпущені), потрібно з вірою і розумінням приступати до Святих Тайн, чинити діла милосердя і моли-тися в наміренні Святішого Отця.

Opening of the Doors of Mercy in our Parish Pope Francis Announcement of the Jubilee of Mercy. “Dear brothers and sisters, I have often thought of how the Church may render more clear her mission to be a witness to mercy; and we have to make this journey. It is a journey which begins with spiritual conver-sion. Therefore, I have decided to announce an Extraordinary Jubilee which has as its center the mercy of God. It will be a Holy Year of Mercy. We want to live in the light of the word of the Lord: “Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful” (cf. Lk 6,36). And this especially ap-plies to confessors! So much mercy!

This Holy Year will commence on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception 2015 and will conclude on Sunday, 20 November 2016, the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe and living face of the Father’s mercy. I entrust the organization of this Jubilee to the Pontifical Council for Promoting the New Evangelization, in order that it may come to life as a new step on the Church’s journey in her mission to bring the Gospel of mer-cy to each person.

I am confident that the whole Church, which is in such need of mercy for we are sin-ners, will be able to find in this Jubilee the joy of rediscovering and rendering fruitful God’s mercy, with which we are all called to give comfort to every man and woman of our time. Do not forget that God forgives all, and God forgives always. Let us never tire of asking for-giveness. Let us henceforth entrust this Year to the Mother of Mercy that she turn her gaze upon us and watch over our journey: our penitential journey, our year-long journey with an open heart, to receive the indulgence of God, to receive the mercy of God”.

In the beginning was the Word; and the Word was in God’s presence, and the Word was God. He was present to God in the beginning, through him all things came into being, and apart from him nothing came to be Whatever came to be in him, found life, life for the light of men. The light shines on in darkness, a darkness that did not overcome it. There was a man named John sent by God, who came as a witness to testify to the light, so that through him all men might believe. But only to testify to the light, for he himself was not the light. The real light which gives light to every man was coming into the world. He was in the world, and through him the world was made, yet the world did not know who he was. To his own he came, yet his own did not accept him. Any who did accept him he empowered to become children of God. These are they who believe in his name. Begotten not by blood, nor by carnal desire, nor by man’s willing it, but by God. The Word became flesh and made his dwell-ing among us, and we have seen his glory; the glory of an only Son coming from the Father, filled with enduring love.

Благодійна Акція при нашій парафії розпочала новий проект.

Рік 2016-ий - це РІК МИЛОСЕРДЯ і ми закликаємо всіх, хто ласкаво хоче і може, приє-днатися до нас, щоб в цьому році торкнутися 2,016 потребуючих осіб. Ціль в нас дуже проста - ми надіємося подарувати кожній потребуючій особі $10. Ці кошті нікого не витягнуть з біди але кожному, хоч трохи допоможуть, а головне, що підтримають дуже багато людей на дусі - людей хворих, інвалідів, людей похилого віку, дітей в сиротинцях, біженців, які мусіли покинути свої домівки, сліпих, бездомних та різних інших. На щастя маємо дуже довірених людей, через чиї руки ми працюємо і маємо повне довір’я, що всі наші датки доходять до тих, кому це дійсно пот-рібно. Вістка про наш проект дійшла аж в Україну і минулого тижня ми мали дуже милу несподі-ванку. До нас написав Владика Богдан Дзюрах, єпископ Греко-Католицької Церкви в Києві. Владика пише: «Дозвольте, що я долучуся скромним даром до Вашої акції: нехай моя пожертва в 100 ам. дол. дійде до 10 людей, яким Ви прагнете допомогти.» Візьмімо собі від Владики Бог-дана приклад. Як би кожний і кожна з нас принесли даток на цю ціль, ми разом зробимо велике діло. Нам дуже приємно повідомити, що на даний час наша збірка складає $2250 - це означає, що ми можемо торкнутися 225-ох потребуючих осіб. Рік 2016-ий триватиме до кінця грудня - ще понад 8 місяців. Якщо ми за три тижні зуміли торкнутися 225-ти осіб, сильно віримо, що ми не лише досягнемо своє мети - принести тепло 2016-ом особам, але ще й перевищимо її!

Our Charitable Organization has started a new project.

Year 2016 is the YEAR OF MERCY and we call upon everyone, who would want to and who is able to join us in bringing warmth to 2016 needy people this year . Our goal is a simple one – we hope to give each of the 2,016 people a gift of $10. This amount of money will not save anyone from poverty but it will bring at least some help and what is more important, it will lift the spirits of many – the sick, invalids, the elderly who are barely getting by on their pensions, children in orphan-ages, refugees who had to leave their homes, the homeless and many others. Thankfully we have trusted people through whose hands we distribute help and so we know for certain that all of our do-nations reach those who indeed need our support. News about our new project has reached Ukraine and last week we had a very pleasant sur-prise. We received a letter from Bishop Bohdan Dzyurakh, a Ukrainian Catholic bishop from Kyiv, who wrote to say: “Please allow me to join your effort. May my donation of $100 reach 10 people whom you aspire to help.” Let us take Bishop Bohdan’s example. If each of us would support this project, our unified effort could reach great heights. It brings us great pleasure to tell you that to date we have received $2250, which means that we will be reaching 225 people. The year 2016 will last until the end of December. If we could reach 225 people in the span of the last three weeks we firmly believe that by the end of the year we will have not only reached our goal but will have surpassed it!

AN EASTER PRAYER O God of the Universe, You shed your glory, Your majesty, Your omnipotence to become human, as Jesus Christ- to get close to us, to connect with us, to be our role model and guide for living. O God of the Universe, You became the human Jesus Christ, to know us, to feel all we feel, to show us how much you love us by taking within yourself all our sins. O God of the Universe, You felt not just one person's pain but the pain of all of us, to wash us clean and bond with us, Your creation, Your children. O God of the Universe, You proved Your transcendent holy power by rising from the dead, a sign that all of us who believe in You will also rise to be with You eternally.
