Usage Notes- 今Can also be used with words like 天 (tiān, which means “day” in this case). Together, they mean “today.”

Usage Notes- 年When saying the year in Chinese, you would express one digit at a

time, so rather than saying 二千八年 (year two-thousand eight), you would say 二零零八年 (year 2-0-0-8).

When expressing the date, you would start with the largest unit of time – year, month, day, time. For example ，二零零八年九月十二日晚上七点。

To ask someone’s age, you would normally ask, “ 你今年多大 ?” However, if the person looks to be under 10 years old, you would ask, “ 你今年几岁 ?” If the person is very old, you would ask, “ 您多大年纪 ?” or “ 您多大岁数了 ?”
