Understanding Low IQIQ is needed by the internal circuits of the LDO to increase the performance of
certain parameters, PSRR, Noise, transients, etc... Therefore it is a tradeoff to have
very low IQ vs. higher performance. Typically the main reason for using an ultra low
IQ LDO is battery life or because the LDO spends a lot of time in the no load or off
state.

The Bias input of the LDO provides the higher voltage necessary for the
control and performance circuitry. The lower voltage on the pass FET
input allows for lower power loss.

High PSRR
PSRR is the ability to reject/filter noise from the input power to the output voltage. The higher the PSRR,
expressed in dB) of the LDO, the better it is at filtering the noise from the input supply.

• A Switching power supply’s noise can be cleaned up to increase performance of application.
• High frequency noise can affect audio, VCOs, camera sensors, RF transmitters, etc…
• LDOs won’t affect loop stability as would adding an LC filter to try and have the same effect.
