District Report Card
Report cards are an important source of information aboutperformance and accountability. They allow districts to compare data in a consistent way and highlight opportunities for improvement.
This report card will show not only the achievement of studentsoverall, but also the progress that disaggregated groups aremaking in closing achievement gaps. Report card data helpPennsylvania school districts and the Pennsylvania Department of Education focus on specific groups of students who are currently not meeting academic standards.
The report card is designed to ensure that the public is fully informed about performance, and to promote broader participation and better decision‑making by providing a shared source of performance data. This federal initiative is based on the idea that a well‑informed public plays an important part in school improvement.
Using Report Card DataReport cards should be used to share information. Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) is not measured by the strength of this report card. The data on this report card may not match AYP data published for this district.

• TheAssessment Report Here you can compare two years of PSSA, PSSA‑M, and PASA academic performance and participation data for this district. These results are displayed by grade, subject, and disaggregated group.
• Adequate Yearly Progress Status Here you can find the total number of schools in the district identified under each AYP status and the name of each school identified.
• Teacher Qualifications This section includes both numbers and percentages of teachers in the school who are highly qualified or hold emergency certification.

Attendance and Graduation Data
Attendance and Graduation Measures
Pennsylvania’s accountability system includes school assessment based on attendance and graduation rates. Attendance rates measure the number of daysthat a student was both enrolled and present in the school. Research shows that a strong relationship exists between regular attendance and academic performance. Graduates are the number of students graduating in four years with a regular diploma. Cohort is described as first time entering 9th graders four years earlier plus “transfers in” over four years minus “transfers out” over four years. The graduation rate for any year is the number of graduates divided by the cohort for that year multiplied by 100.

National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP)
2009 NAEP Mathematics Pass Rate
The NAEP, also known as The Nation’s Report Card, is a national assessment of student achievement that is taken by samples of students representative of each state and of the nation. Tests in reading and mathematics are administered every two years and provide a means of comparing the progress of states in raising student achievement. The National Educational Assessment Program (NAEP) scores and the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) scores are not totally comparable. The NAEP scores are based on National Standards, and the PSSA measures standards that are unique to Pennsylvania. The data from the NAEP is based on a small sample, while the data from the PSSA is based on all students.
