A New Relationship between Goat and Animal Herders, Bayan-Ölgii Province, Western Mongolia -Searching a Way of Community Development from Life History of “Goat-Keeper Family” in Altaic Kazakhs, Japanese Journal of Human Animal Relations vol. 40: pp. 47-57. 要約 モンゴルではこの20年間で全国のヤギ保有頭数が2.6倍に増加し、その主要生産物であるカシミア毛の経済生産性に多くの期待が寄せられている。特に同国最大の貧困地域でもあるアルタイ地域（バヤン・ウルギー県）でも、ヤギ放牧頭数は増加の一途にあり、県内の総数はヒツジを上回る。こうした状況のなか、本稿では現地で新たに登場した「ヤギ飼い」というヤギに特化した牧畜生産様式に注目し、その嚆矢となったKY 氏家族のライフヒストリーを読み解くことで、その成立した経緯と個別具体の事情を半構成的インタビュー、住み込み滞在型フィールドワークにより明らかとした。その結果、①ヤギのみを経済家畜として使用することにより、乳製品とカシミア毛の販売などの経済活動に特化した、あらたな牧畜形式と適応戦略が読み取ることができた。②また、KY氏個人のライフヒストリーを縦断調査することで、アルタイ系カザフ人の地域社会に根づく末子相続と、それに由来する親族間関係や貧富間格差などの社会的特質が部分的に明らかとなった。本稿では、アルタイ地域に萌芽したヤギに特化した個性と特殊性に言及し、将来に向けた地域振興と牧畜開発の一事例として考察した。キーワード：カシミア、バヤン・ウルギー県、分離放牧、末子相続、放牧種特化SummaryThe total number of goat in Mongolia has increased its 2.6 times than that of 20 years ago, and their cashmere hair products have become principally important in herding community. Especially, the poor country-side region, such as Bayan-Ölgii Province in Western Mongolia, has similar situation to the nation-wide trend of goat expansion. This paper focuses on emergence of a “goat-keeper family” that formulated as a relatively new husbandry strategy in the Altai region recently. To intensive focus on the life history (including the family status, livestock possession, and ways of herding management, etc) of the goat-keeper family “The KYs”, (1) this research discovered several economic efficiencies of the mono-species grazing system of goat which is becoming high due to stable cash income with specialized goat-milk and cashmere trade as a new strategy. Besides, (2) the intensive longitudinal study of life history also clarifiedthe family relationship and economic disparity of wealth between local households which greatly ascribed to the traditional inheritance system “ultimogeniture”.
