Solemnity of Pentecost

Central Texas Voices for Life Please mark your calendars for the Texas Alliance for Life’s Walk for Life on June 20th. Funds raised go toward prolife education, defending prolife policies in the courts, and the promotion of the Choose Life license plates that support infant adoption. Grants will also be given to alternatives to abortion. In our area, Hope Pregnancy Center and Our Lady of the Angels Maternity Home will be recipients. To register as a walker and solicit funds online, please go to texasallianceforlife.org and click on the Walk for Life but-ton. Please register for Team St. Paul Chong Hasang Catholic Church. Paper brochures will also be available in the Narthex to receive donations in person if you didn’t receive one in the mail. It’s only a two-mile walk around your neighborhood, on your treadmill, or at the Harker Heights Community Park (if the shelter-in-place guideline is lifted and gatherings are allowed). For more information call Carolyn at (254) 458-1766. Please join us this Thursday after the 5:30 pm daily mass for the Holy Hour for Life. We will be spaced out inside the church. If you have a copy of the Holy Hour book, please bring it with you. Let us pray for all Life from conception to natural death.

Pastor’s Letter

Dear Parishioners, As we celebrate Pentecost this weekend, we are reminding ourselves of that great event when

the Holy Spirit came down upon the Apostles and the holy women in the upper room in Jerusalem and immediately the Mission of the Church began, the Evangelization of our world. Jesus had truly sent us The Advocate, as He promised, Who will be with us until the end of time. This same Advocate will come down on our 25 students on Saturday evening at the 5:30 p.m. Mass when Bishop Joe S. Vasquez will confer the sacrament of Confirmation upon them. He then sends them out to be evangelizers in their homes and schools and with their friends. Then on Sunday afternoon during a special Mass at 3:00 p.m. we are celebrating the First Holy Communion of our young children. How blessed we are, as parents, family members and parishioners. I wish to thank our DRE, Michael Candelas, our Deacons and all our CCD teachers as well as those who formed the team of our “Chosen program” who faithfully each week encouraged the Confirmandi in their prepara-tion for the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation. And for the retreat for our team on Saturday and the retreat on Sunday for our students, organized by Deacon Al and his faithful band of followers. All this is made possible by the parishioners who are and have over so many years been so generous in their financial support each week. Their generosity will one day be repaid to overflowing by our gracious God who is never outdone in generosity. What a great legacy to leave. Sincerely, Father Richard

Quote of the Week:

“One life is all we have … But to sacrifice what you are and to live without belief, that is the fate more terrible

than dying.” - St. Joan of Arc

Cedarbrake Retreat Center

The Summer Silence Retreat, Private retreat The Summer Silence, Private retreat will be held June 5-10 at Cedarbrake Catholic Retreat Center in Temple. This retreat in-cludes daily Mass, spiritual direction and confession. The cost for the retreat is $55 per night for a private room. Meals will not be included, but the lounge/kitchenette will be made available on a staggered basis to respect the social distance guidelines.

Monthly Morning Meditation with Fr. Albert Haase, OFM The Monthly Morning Meditation retreat will be on the third Thurs-day of each month starting June 18 at Cedarbrake Catholic Retreat Center in Temple. The morning begins with a 9 a.m. Mass followed with a talk by Franciscan Father Albert Haase and a closing prayer experience. There will be time for private prayer and reflection and the day ends at 11:30 a.m. Subsequent morning retreats will be July 16 and Aug. 20. The cost for each is $25 or $60 for all three sessions. To register or for more information, call (254) 780-2436.

Attention: If you are unable to receive the Eucharist at the Altar (walk up), please notify an usher before Mass, and Holy Communion will be brought to you.

When attending Mass it is recommended that you wear a mask if possible. A mask helps to stop the spread of droplets coming out of our mouths and keeps us from touching our faces; helping to stop transmission of germs to others.

Communion will only be given in the hand. During the week the Church will now be open from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. On Fridays there will be Adoration from 10 a.m. -Noon in the Church with Exposition of the Blessed Sacra-ment and Benediction (at Noon).

Confessions will be 30 minutes before each mass in the family room in the Church.

Confessions will also be available at our Parish Center 30 minutes before each of the masses scheduled on the week-end.

Parish Festival-The Church Festival has been cancelled for 2020. Once the pandemic has passed, discussion of a festival in 2021 will be held. All of the raffle and auction items will be held for 2021. Donna Perry would like to thank everyone for your assistance and willingness to help - so just hold those thoughts for 2021.
