Produces used to collect data

As stated earlier, Claremont Drive has approximately 200 households. It was calculated that a sample of 15% was necessary in order to ensure accurate conclusions on the number of juvenile delinquency in the area. (15% of 200 = 30)

A total of 40 questionnaires were prepared for distribution to the residents. It was expected that at least 30 of these will be returned.

The Research therefore decided to choose the households by a process of random selection which will crater for all the requirements mention above. The numbers of all houses in the community was written, each on a slip of paper. Each slip of paper was folded and placed into a box. The box was closed and shaken vigorously to ensure a thorough mixture of the numbers. A total of 40 slips were then drawn from the box, one at a time, while shaking the box in the process.

The thirty households thus selected were then supplied with questionnaires. In instances where members were not at home, the questionnaires were left in the mailbox at 46A Claremont Drive, Old Harbour.
