Handheld Hammers

Small equipment

Portable

Low power

Suffer recoil

Supplied with Powerpack

Air Hammers

Long established equipment

Limited to short lengths of Piling

Noisy

Oil Pollution

Compactors

Good availability

Good control

Limited power

Excavator Mounted Vibrators

Powerful units

Can work with Mandrels

Top and side driving versions available

Can drive and extract

Mini Crane Suspended Vibrators

Work of crane boats

Independent powerpack

May need ballast weights

Include worlds smallest ESF03

Leader Rigs

Not frequently used

Excellent force

Excellent verticality

Ideally suited to long lengths of pile and mandrels

Piling Mandrels – supports pile and vibro

Side Sleeves Side Mandrels Internal mandrels

Slide Sleeves

•Basic steel strengthener

•Only overlaps on interlock

•Useful on budget light duty piling

•Limited to around 2-3m

•Must always be shorter than pile – plugging

•Easily suits different sheets

Side Mandrels

•Provides top and side support

•Prevents sheet buckling

• Safer than rear mandrels

• Works ahead of the pile

•Requires quite large equipment

•Heavy

•Expensive to produce

•Suit narrow range of sheets

Internal Mandrels

•Only for advanced range of piles

•Light weight minimises equipment size

•Internal backbone allow greater downcrowd

•Extends beyond pile and reduced toe friction and plugging

New developmentsBSP BH120 •The first purpose built hydraulic hammer for

plastic piling

•Compact and powerful quadruple acceleration of ram.

•Leader mounted

•Low hydraulic demand – 5 tonne mini excavators upward are sufficient

•Back driving option

•Tested at BSP with The Hammerman on the advanced range of plastic piles.

Remaining Issues

The main issues that relate today are:

Selecting the right pile for the job

Getting in equipment that is powerful enough for the task

Vibrator biased
