BECKER BULLETINYou’re SUPER!

I just wanted to thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we tried to get back on schedule after Hurricane Irma and our week off. Before I knew that school would be closed, I sent out a copy of The Becker Bulletin (which looked remarkably similar to this issue). Unfortunately, I was, and continue to be, without internet service, so I was unable to inform you that we’d be spending this week reviewing and picking up where we left off.

For those of you that had your children prepare their spelling words and keep track of their reading, don’t fret. As you’ll see below, we’ll be covering those spelling words this week. And, if your child kept up with his/her reading, they can record that time on this week’s reading log.

I know that some of you are still dealing with the aftermath of the storm, but it was great to see all my scholars back and in good form. Thanks again for everything!

The Week In Review Miscellaneous

This week, we finished the Scientific Method in science, began adding and subtracting decimals in math, continued learning about geography in SS, and did some writing in ELA.

Our word of the week was “resilience.” After Hurricane Irma, we all had to bounce back as we returned to school and our regular schedules. No matter what life throws at us, we must be resilient! Volunteers: If anyone would like to earn some volunteer time, we could use help with cleaning yoga mats. We also have a Parent Involvement Night coming up on September 28, and could use help with cooking from 12:45-1:40!

AuctionThanks to everyone who was able to contribute something to our auction. All donations are greatly appreciated! Our first auction will be next Friday, September 29.

Dads Take You Child to School DayAll male role models are invited to Morning Mile and Morning Meeting on Wednesday, September 27. While we want to celebrate the influential males in your children’s lives, mothers and other family members are welcome to attend! Please join us!

Students should neatly write each of the following words with large, legible print on the index cards sent home today. In addition, they need to mark consonants, vowels, and syllable breaks. We will do all the remaining marking of the words in

class on Monday.
