本期的基督書院院訊主題主要針對本校的基

督教博雅教育如何培養學生具有憐憫關懷心作

一闡述。此乃基督教博雅教育目標之一,除此

之外還包括基督徒品格、溝通能力、批判思考

能力、創造力、合作能力、專業技能、貢獻

社會等共8個目標,因為每一個英文字母開頭

皆為C,簡稱8C。培養憐憫關懷心為基督書院

重要的教育任務,因我們相信 神的本質之一

就是慈悲憐憫,而基督徒的使命乃是讓 神的

特質彰顯在我們的生命中。在聖經中提及”…

慈悲的父,賜各樣安慰的 神。我們在一切患

難中,祂就安慰我們,叫我們能用 神所賜的

安慰去安慰那遭各樣患難的人。”(林後一:3-

4)耶穌的生命具體地向基督徒展現慈悲憐憫的

精髓。基督的榜樣挑戰基督徒能放棄自己的私

慾,並向他人尤其是在困境中的人展現憐憫關

懷心腸。

基督書院是以基督教信仰培養學生成為基督

門徒,而發展學生的憐憫關懷心便是使命宣言

所帶出來的自然結果。耶穌的登山寶訓(馬太

福音五:3-10)主要是教導他的門徒,以及那些

非信徒能成為門徒,耶穌呼召他們根據 神國度的價值

來生活。登山寶訓的教導非常清楚地說明,成為耶穌

的門徒就表明是立志為 神而活,而非為自己而活,並

能正確地對待他人。當我們謙卑自己在 神的面前,我

們與人的關係會改變,使我們不再只為自己著想而開

始顧及別人的利益。我們被呼召放棄自己的權利,因

為我們知道當我們尋求 神的幫助時,這一位公義的審

判者會按著祂的公義為我們伸冤。”憐恤人的人有福

了!因為他們必蒙憐恤。”(馬太五:7)。身為耶穌基督

的門徒,當我們耐心等候祂的再來,耶穌呼召我們要

成為謙卑、仁慈及和平的使者。

培養學生個人倫理道德意識是現代教育制度中所欠

缺的一樣品格。身為基督教大學,我們相信道德不只

是在特定情境中的選擇而已,而是透過建立與 神的關

係而成為耶穌基督的門徒所培養出來的品格與行為。

我們愛 神的程度與對周遭的人所做出的反應二者之間

是相關聯的,事實上耶穌在好撒瑪利亞人的比喻中把

這兩種概念做連結。(路十: 25-37)。 如果我們處於與

自己同類、所愛的家人或朋友之間,要做到憐憫與關

懷也許是自然的,然而耶穌所立下的典範卻是要針對

所有的人,甚至是敵人都施與憐憫和關懷。也因此我

The theme of this issue of CC Life is how compassion and caring are developed through a Christian liberal arts college program. This is one of the outcomes of a Christian liberal arts college program that can be summarized by 8 C’s that include Christian Character, Compassion/Caring, Communication, Critical Thinking, Creativity, Cooperation, Competence, and Contribution. The development of compassion and caring has always been important to the educational mission and program of Christ’s College because we believe that compassion is a characteristic of God that we as Christians are called to reflect in our lives. In the Bible, it says that God is “… the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God” (2 Corinthians 1: 3-4). The life of Jesus embodies for Christians the very essence of compassion and caring. Christ’s example challenges Christians to forsake their own desires and to act compassionately towards others, particularly those in need or distress.

The development of compassion in students is a natural outcome of the mission statement of Christ’s College that says we are dedicated to discipling students in the Christian faith. In the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7), Jesus specifically addresses his disciples, but Jesus also invites those who are not disciples to become disciples and to live according to the values of God’s kingdom. The teachings of

these chapters make it clear that being a disciple of Jesus Christ means living for God, not for ourselves, and that includes treating our neighbors rightly. As we humble ourselves before God, our relationships are transformed so that we no longer act out of natural self-interest but we begin to seek what is good for the other person. We are called to give up the pursuit of our own rights because we know that God, the just judge, will vindicate us as we seek his ways of justice. “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy”(Matthew 5:7). As disciples of Jesus Christ we are called to be meek, merciful, peacemakers as we patiently and humbly wait for His return.

One of the things that is lacking as an outcome in the educational process in most contemporary institutions is the development of graduates with a sense of personal ethics. As a Christian College, we believe that ethics is not just a matter of choosing the best option one has in a particular situation, but is related to the issue of character and conduct that is developed through having a relationship with God and living as a disciple of Jesus Christ. How we love God and how we respond to the people around us are connected; in fact, Jesus connects the two concepts in the parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10: 25-37). If we surround ourselves with our family, friends and people who are like us and whom we love, then perhaps feelings of compassion and a desire to care about those people will come naturally

們的教育目標超越教導學生謀生技能,我們挑

戰他們照顧自己和家人之外,還要看顧鄰舍及

鰥寡孤獨廢疾者這些有需要的人。從某個角度

來說,書院學生已經實際落實這個教導。他們

擔任寢室室長、副室長,委身服侍其他室友;

參加工作會傳福音和服務有需要的人;甚至投

入短宣到菲律賓和印度去傳福音給孤兒和流浪

街童。為了更加落實這項目標於體系之中,我

們目前規劃有一服務學習的計畫,能夠挑戰學

生在書院學習期間必須將關懷服事納入學習的

課程之中。

身為基督教教育的執行者,我們也渴望藉著

因某種因素無法登入大學院校殿堂的學子,和

想要實現生命夢想的學子提供基督教大學教育

來展現恩慈和憐憫,幫助他們藉由教育脫離貧

窮的環境。台灣雖然在亞洲享有經濟成功的盛

名,然而近幾年貧富差距已經越來越懸殊,而

台灣家庭也因此受到衝擊。根據民國九十八年

世界展望會台灣分會資料顯示:

然而近年來,經濟全球化以及金融海嘯造成

國內就業市場結構性的巨大改變,產業的變遷

與工廠關閉導致失業率上升,許多家庭因失

去主要收入而發生經濟危機。在家庭遭逢困境

時,兒童常成為其中最容易被忽略的對象。家

庭的經濟危機常使得家庭中的父母或主要照顧者容

易發生情緒困擾、憂鬱、家庭衝突、離家、自殺、

犯罪及家暴或兒虐…等危機事件。在長久照顧弱勢

家庭兒童的經驗當中,展望會發現許多這些家庭出

生的孩子擁有在音樂、藝術或體育方面令人驚奇的

才能,然而這些 神所賞賜的潛力卻因為環境而缺

少發展的機會。

為了提供這類學子能夠有發展恩賜的環境,基督

書院已經設計獎學金幫助這些學生突破財務困境,

取得接受高等教育的機會。這樣的方案能否成功端

賴於書院之友,也就是您,持續在財務上的支持和

贊助。您是否願意透過這本院訊夾頁的奉獻卡支持

這些孩子,支持基督書院?假使每一位讀者奉獻台

to us. However, the model Jesus gives his disciples for compassionate conduct, emphasizes that true God l ike compassion should extend to a l l , even to those we regard as our natural enemies. Therefore, our goal goes beyond teaching Christ’s College students some skills to earn a living so that they can take care of themselves or their families, to challenging them to care for their neighbors and show mercy to those in need. In some senses, students at Christ’s College have been doing this for years, as they have served other students as room leaders, joined the Gospel Associations in ministry to people in need, and even participated in short term mission trips to the Philippines and India where they worked with street children and orphans. However, in addition to these activities in which some students have participated, we are in the process of developing a service learning program that will challenge, teach and require all students to practice caring for others during their Christ’s College experience.

As a Christian College, we also desire to model compassion and caring by giving deserving students who have been denied the opportunity to pursue their dreams of an education beyond the high school level, the chance to earn a college degree and to develop skills that will enable them to help themselves and others break the cycle of poverty. Although Taiwan is viewed as one of Asia’s modern economic success stories, the gap between rich and poor has grown wider in the past few years, and this has affected families and children in Taiwan as the following excerpt from the 2009 Annual Report of World Vision Taiwan states:

In recent years, economic globalization and the financial crisis have created huge structural changes in Taiwan’s job

market. Industries have moved abroad and factories have closed. The primary breadwinners in many families have lost their jobs, plunging families into economic crisis. When families face such difficulties, children often are the most easily overlooked… Economic crises within households can often cause parents or primary caregivers to suffer from emotional difficulties that lead to conflicts, abandonment, suicide, crime, domestic violence, or child abuse… During our years of car ing for Taiwan’s d isadvantaged children, World Vision has found that many of these young people possess amazing musical, artistic, or athletic talent. However, because of their families’ economic situations, they lack the opportunity to develop their God-given potential.

In order to help such students achieve their God-given potential, Christ’s College has developed and will continue to develop scholarship programs that will remove the economic barrier that is currently preventing these students from opportunities for higher education. The ultimate success of such programs depends on the continuing financial gifts that we receive from friends of the college like you. Would you be willing to help us, help these students, by making a donation using the removable card in the center of this magazine? No contribution is too small, and if every person who receives this magazine donates just $500 NT or $20 USD, we will be able to offer at least six new students this opportunity. 在基督書院校園的一個角落,有一片小小的墓

園,這裡是幾位信心英雄在地上的最後居所。其

中較著名的,當屬基督書院的創辦人賈嘉美博士

和入籍中國的艾偉德宣教士。在這一期的院訊

裏,我們要來介紹艾偉德宣教士。

在一本探討二十世紀傑出基督徒婦女的書籍

《100 Christian Women Who Changed the 20th

Century》中,作者將艾偉德放在宣教類(Missions)

的第一位,而在近年來出版的各種宣教偉人、信

心偉人的成套傳記中,幾乎也都不會遺漏艾偉德

這個名字,可見艾偉德雖然已經去世四十多年,

但她一生留下的見證仍在說話,仍被紀念。

艾偉德身材短小,所以被稱為「小婦人」,而

她實在是一個大有信心的小婦人。以下是幾個例

證:第一,她憑信心來中國。由於她所申請的差

會,認為她的學習能力不及格,拒絕了她的申

請,艾偉德只好憑信心自己來中國。她努力工作,積蓄

旅費。她隻身長途旅行,途中經歷許多危險,終於來到

中國內地山西省南部的陽城縣。第二,她憑信心帶領孩

童逃難。二次大戰期間,日軍進攻中國內地,陽城縣即

將淪陷,艾偉德帶領近百名戰火下的難童,逃出山西。

途中翻山越嶺,還要渡過黃河,歷時一個月,終於護送

他們到達政府所辦的收容機構。此舉後來被英國記者報

導傳開,又被好萊塢拍成電影「六福客棧」,使得艾偉

德成為一位非常著名的宣教士。第三,她憑信心做見

證。雖然並非博學多聞,但 神給艾偉德做見證的恩賜,

她可以滔滔不絕說上一、兩個小時,也沒有人會聽得不

耐煩。她最喜歡講述信心之父亞伯拉罕的故事,因為她

自己也像亞伯拉罕一樣,總是踏出信心的腳步,經歷 神

的帶領與供應。

由於艾偉德早已取得中華民國國籍,所以她選擇在一

九七五年定居台灣,開始另一階段的信心生活。她創辦

孤兒院,帶給許多孩童溫暖與希望。她應邀到世界各地

A cemetery in the corner of the Christ’s College’s campus is a resting place for several heroes of faith. Among them are two most famous missionaries, Dr. James R. Graham III and Gladys Aylward. Let us learn more about Ms. Aylward.

The author of 100 Christian Women Who Changed the 20th Century listed Gladys Aylward as the number one missionary who influenced the world. Her name always shows up in books or biographies on missions. Forty years have passed since she died, but her life and testimony continue to live in people’s minds.

N i c k n a m e d “ T h e L i t t l e Woman,” Ms. Aylward was a lady of small size. Yet her great faith speaks of a different characteristic. Several events demonstrate her great trust in the Lord. First, due to a limited education, mission groups refused to send her to China. She had to come to Asia solely by faith, relying on her own resources. She worked extremely hard to

save money for her long trip, and she endured many obstacles before she eventually reached Yangcheng Hsien in Shanxi Province. Secondly, she led a hundred orphans to a shelter city many miles away without any support but the faith in her heart. This event occurred during World War II when the Japanese army invaded China and intruded on the town where she lived. Almost a hundred children followed Ms. Aylward to escape from Shanxi Province to a shelter in another city. The process involved passing over high mountains and crossing the Yellow River. It took her more than a month to finally reach shelter. Reported by a British journalist, this story became widely known. It caught a Hollywood producer’s attention and was turned into a movie “The Inn of the Sixth Happiness.” Missionary Aylward’s compassion and perseverance became known all over the world. Thirdly, she evangelized with faith. Regardless of her lack of formal education, she was gifted in sharing the Gospel. She shared testimonies and stories for hours and kept the interest of her audience. One of her favorite stories was Abraham’s story. Like Father Abraham, Ms. Aylward always stepped out in faith to experience God’s providence and guidance.

Ms. Aylward became a citizen of the Republic of China in 1941 and resided in Taiwan in 1957. This opened another phase of her life in faith. She established an orphanage and brought hope and love to many children on the is-

演講,一方面為主作見證,一方面為中華民國在國際

上發聲。一九六三年,她甚至應邀與英國女王餐敘,獲

得極高的榮譽。基督書院院長賈嘉美博士與她同為熱心

傳福音的宣教士,也同為中華民國的堅定友人,所以賈

院長多次邀請她到基督書院來向師生們講道,帶來很大

的祝福。當艾偉德在一九七零年初病逝時,賈院長也參

與了治喪事宜,並在一月二十四日的追思禮拜中參與服

事。當天稍晚,艾偉德安葬於基督書院。

艾偉德的墓碑,因歲月磨損,碑文已有點模糊。我曾

經在網路上看見中國大陸一位朋友的留言,他很高興得

到一張艾偉德墓園的相片,可惜碑文看不清楚,覺得非

常遺憾。我們何其有幸,隨時都可以來到碑前仔細觀

看。碑文是這樣的:「艾偉德教士,主後一九零二年二

月二十四日生於英國倫敦,一九三零年奉主差遣來華宣

揚福音,一九四一年入籍中華民國,一九七零年一月二

日於台北家,主恩召安息。一粒麥子不落在地裏死了,

仍舊是一粒,若是死了,就結出許多子粒來。約翰福

音十二:24」此外,正中間刻有「弘道遺愛」四個大

字,是蔣中正總統的輓詞。

艾偉德去世時,當時九十五歲高齡的陳維屏牧師表

示:「艾教士是上帝的光榮,是辦理社會慈善救濟者

的楷模,是反共的鬥士,是一位堂堂正正的中國人,

全國同胞應該向艾教士看齊,應該為她興建紀念館

來紀念她,藉以匡正社會風氣,引導人心向善。」如

今,距離艾偉德長眠於基督書院已經超過四十年了,

為她興建紀念館的構想並未實現,反倒是她一生美好

的見證,正逐漸從人們的記憶中流失。但願我們從信

心英雄們的墓園出發,好好珍惜並善用這份屬靈的遺

產,讓信心的雲彩在基督書院裏更加燦爛,使基督書

院成為華人宣教教育的重要基地,帶動全球華人教會

起來投入普世宣教的大使命。

land. She was invited to give speeches all over the world, voicing the needs of Taiwan among international societies. She was invited to a meal with Queen Elizabeth in 1963. Christ’s College founder, Dr. Graham, and Ms. Aylward were both passionate missionaries and faithful friends of Taiwan, the Republic of China. Dr. Graham invited Ms. Aylward for a chapel service at Christ’s College and it brought a great blessing to all of the students, faculty and staff. When Ms. Aylward passed away in 1970, Dr. Graham took part in the funeral service. He also offered Christ’s College as the final resting place for this little woman of great faith.

I once saw a comment from a mainlander talking about how glad he was to see the picture of Ms. Aylward on her tomb. The inscription on the tomb reads, “MISS GLADYS AYLWARD MISSIONARY 1902-1970. born on the Twenty-Fourth of February Nineteen Hundred and Two in London, England. She came to China in Nineteen Hundred and Thirty to preach the Gospel in response to the Lord’s call:

And became a citizen of the Republic of China in Nineteen Hundred and Forty-one.

She was laid to rest in the Lord at Taipei, Taiwan, on the Second Day of January, Nineteen Hundred and Sev-enty. ‘Unless a grain of wheat falls into earth and dies, it remains alone: but it dies, it bears much fruit.’ John

12:24.” Four words were given by President Chiang Kai-Shek as an epitaph: “Hung Dao Yi Ai” (His Word Magnified and His Love Exemplified ).

Ninety-five-year-old pastor Chen Wei Ping commented on her funeral : “Missionary Aylward is the light of God’s love; a role model of social charity; a fighter of anti-communism, a genuine Chinese that every Chinese should take her as an example. A monument should be bu i l t t o commemora te he r and to in f luence the soc ie ty. ” Forty years have passed after her rest on earth at Christ’s College, but the dream of building a monument has not been realized yet. On the contrary, the beautiful testimony her life presented to us has gradually slipped though people’s memory. I sincerely wish that we can make good use of the spiritual inheritance she endowed us with and let the clouds of faith shine even brighter in Christ’s College so that Christ’s College will become an important foundation of Chinese mission education and an advocate of the world mission among Chinese people all over the world.

音,以英文大聲的向老師問好「 Good morning,

Teacher! 」,「 Good morning, students! 」今天

兩節課八十分鐘精彩的英文課就此展開…

每個星期三、五早上,同樣的場景、同樣充滿

元氣的聲音都會再次發生!書院英語教學主修跟

竹圍國小自強分校的英語教學合作課程已經堂堂

邁入第十一年!十一年前,當時的主修主任,現

語教學教材內容缺乏故事文學方面的薰陶且坊間

有許多經典傳頌多年優秀的英文兒童繪本是國內

學生沒有機會接觸,而語言學習的最佳方法就是

在有意義的故事情境中學習。因 Dr. Nantz 的專業

即在英語教學領域,遂於十多年前成立英語教學

“Good morning, Teacher!” It’s eight o’clock, Wednesday morning, and students from Chu-Wei Elementary School, Tz-Chiang branch school greet their teachers enthusiastically in English. The two 40-minute periods of great English lessons begin!

The same scene and same energetic and passionate greetings take place every Wednesday & Friday morning! This is the 11th year of cooperation be-tween the Tz-Chiang branch school and the Christ’s College TESOL major. The history traces back to Dr. Nantz – the former English department chairperson who now is the president of Christ’s College – who saw the need for more focus on children’s literature in the English curriculum of local elementary schools. Professionally, he knew that the best way to learn a language is through authentic material and real life situations. Well-known picture books can

greatly help student learning. Therefore, Dr. Nantz started a TESOL program within the English major which provides systematic and professional training courses to prepare the Christ’s College students for a future in teaching. Meanwhile, he contacted two local public elementary schools – Chu-Wei Elementary School Tz-Chiang branch and Ping-Ding Elemen-tary School – and established an agreement in which CC senior TESOL majors teach two periods on Wednesday morning and one period on Friday morning every week.

This cooperative English teaching program is a service to our community. It is not only a free program, but the student teachers also usually buy student gifts and teaching prop materials out of their own pockets. On special holidays, such as Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter, they come up with interesting teaching plans to help expose students to different cultures through English. Most important of all, student teachers express their love and care to the students

because the Lord Jesus has loved them first. The curriculum emphasizes character development, a special concern in the current education system. We develop the students’ character education through biblical and well-designed children’s picture books. Our interaction with the students enables them to feel recognition, appreciation, love, and care from their teachers and decreases their fear of English.

For years our senior student teachers have been establishing friendly and warm relationships with the students and the elementary teachers. Moreover, the one-year practical teaching in the elementary school prepares these seniors for the challenges they face after graduation. The children’s literature based English teaching program provides local students with different opportunities to learn and enjoy the language. We, as the followers of Jesus, serve the community with the spirit learned from our Lord Jesus.

自強分校和新北市坪頂國小簽訂合作事宜—每星期三早

上八點至九點二十五分,星期五早上八點四十五到九點

二十五分,每週共三節課的英語課程。

這個英語教學合作課程完全是服務性質,不但不收取

任何費用,負責的大四學生老師還常常自掏腰包買材

料、做教具、並在特定節日時買禮物送學生(例如上學期

的萬聖節、感恩節、聖誕節、下學期的復活節)。有時所

有實習課的大四學生會一起聯合活動,讓全校小學生一

起進行活動,有時又是單獨各班進行活動,但是無論是

那一種型態,都是經過精心計劃,都是為了讓小學生們

能感受到愛與關懷,也藉此機會將福音介紹給孩子們!

在此期間我們也透過課程將現代教育最重視也是極力

推廣的品格教育,透過繪本導讀與教學將耶穌基督所

塑造基督徒的好品格教導給孩子們。在與孩子互動中

讓一些比較沒有機會學習的孩子們有了被肯定、被關

心、被愛、被包容的感受,從而挑起他們對語言學習

的興趣。

歷年來擔任實習課的學生們都有不錯的表現,也與

小學生以及老師們建立了深厚的情誼。而這一年臨場

實務的磨練更為實習課的學生們在進入職場之前有非

常重要的預備。而書院提供以故事繪本為主教材的英

語學習課程更是提供了合作學校的小學生們不同的英

語學習視野,引發小學生們學習英語的樂趣,並受到

合作學校的一致好評。書院更藉此合作計畫發揮服務

社區與社區聯結的精神,學習基督的榜樣,服事同在

這座山頭的孩子們!

基督徒時常想要知道如何依據 神的標準將

基督的信仰以實際的方式在生活中活出來。從

彌迦書六章8節說:『世人哪,耶和華已指示你

何為善,他向你所要的是甚麼呢?只要你行公

義,好憐憫,存謙卑的心,與你的 神同

行。』(合和本)。一般而言,我們都對行公

義、好憐憫、敬虔的與 神同行有一些基本的觀

念,也知道 神的能力、權柄、智慧都遠比我們

更大、更高。但是,喜愛恩慈、愛好憐憫、善

於關懷的意思到底是什麼?

我們明白 神藉着祂兒子的寶血遮蓋我們的

罪,向我們顯出祂赦罪的憐憫,並將我們從受

苦中釋放出來。彼得前書一章3~4節:『他曾照

自己的大憐憫,藉耶穌基督死裏復活,重生了

我們,叫我們有活潑的盼望,可以得着不能朽

壞,不能玷污,不能衰殘,為你們存留在天上

的基業。』

要如何在基督書院日常生活中展現出 神的

憐憫關懷呢?基督書院的學生在校園生活中所

行出來的是有憐憫關懷的,他們藉由許多方式

表達出這樣的愛,例如對別人顯出恩慈、關

心,與受苦的人同苦,以及奉獻他們的時間、

精力與財力等等實際的行動。書院有許多的女

學生協助照顧老師的小孩子們。在風和日麗的

日子,走過悅人的紅黃相間帳蓬搖椅,可看到

Vivian、Winnie、Carolyn、Elvira 與 Kaitlyn 和

Jamie 擲球、使用彩色粉筆或是互相追捕。黃保

羅老師家新加入的一位成員Tianna吸引許多女學

生去抱抱這位可愛的小嬰孩。運動會當天,當

朱永言組長需要廣播比賽項目時,學生們便輪

流照顧朱恩祈。

彼此關懷是我們校園的標記。在週末,許多

學生們協助校外教會的服事,如:照顧小孩、

兒童主日學、音樂事工、福音事工及主日崇拜

等。有些同學則照顧身體有需要的父母親、兄

弟姊妹,為他們煮飯、採買;當有人在靈命有

需要時,同學會與他們一起禱告、協談、研讀

聖經。當學生知道老師感冒,會送咳嗽糖漿及

藥物至老師的宿舍。就有那麼一次,一些學生

知道某位老師要離開,居然安排一場意外的“

再見”送機場面,場面令人動容落淚。我們的

男學生用許多個人時間幫助一位受傷的室友恢

復說話及學習能力。他們協助受傷者發音、閱讀、理解

及做作業。另一位女學生透過電子郵件的方式說明作業

及安排小組聚集的讀書時間來幫助她的同班同學,還有

學生幫助同班同學練習四年級戲劇演出的台詞。

教師和行政人員也是具有關懷的;教師們定期的為學

生們禱告,擔任班導師者也同時扮演諮商員角色。他們

樂意每週一次在他們的家中舉行晚禱,也不忘晚禱時烤

些好吃的布朗尼巧克力小方塊蛋糕給學生!有教師在暑

假撰寫作業手冊或編寫適合學生程度的教科書以利學生

的學習。有幾位教師提供個別指導課,幫助學生因為某

些因素須在畢業前完成的課業。曾經有學生因父母親生

病之牽絆無法準時交功課,老師們需給予額外的時間幫

助他(她)完成已過期的作業。有誰能明白教師一方面

要訓練學生自律,一方面又要保有恩慈這兩難中所展

現“堅韌的愛”呢?當學生有經濟需要時,學生事務暨

福音事工處為了籌措獎助學金,何嘗不也是關懷憐憫的

另一種形式。行政人員所展現出的關懷是在立案及認證

的事工上努力工作,俾使學生的學歷獲得國內外的認

可。

能見到基督教信仰在這兒被落實是可喜的。職員超越

工作職責的範圍默默付出關懷的行動,例如警衛人員協

助搭乘公車及計程車的人注意安全,女清潔職工看到提

垃圾或送洗衣物的教職員趕緊趨前幫忙。有誰能算出

裴仲民主任放下手邊的工作,開車送我們到捷運站的

次數嗎?蔡佳全先生檢修冷氣機及電插頭的時數又

有誰知道?張雅婷姊妹有耐心的安排課所花的時

間您清楚嗎?

當筆者走過展示在車道旁的教育目標旗幟

時,我佇足停留在『憐憫關懷』的旗幟前,

筆者確知基督書院是一所有憐憫關懷榜樣

的學府。藉着我們三位一體 神的憐憫,

我們努力效法基督的樣式,學習活得

更“像祂”,更能彰顯出基督的公

義。願恩主在幫助個人生命成長時得

著喜悅,也教導我們如何成為「回

應憐憫,述說慈愛」的人。

As Christians, we often wonder how to live out our Christian faith according to God’s standards in a practical way. One helpful verse is Micah 6:8: “He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly, and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God” (NIV). We have a general idea of what it means to act in a just manner and to walk humbly with our Lord, knowing His strength, power, and wisdom are so much greater than ours. But what does it mean to love mercy? to love compassion?

We learn that God, Himself, is merciful in showing forgiveness toward us when He covers our sin with the Son’s blood and provides relief from our suffering. “In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil, or fade – kept in heaven for you . . . .” (1 Peter 1:3)

But what does compassion look like in our daily lives at Christ’s College? Students demonstrate compassion in many ways through their kindness, concern for others, suffering with others, and sacrifices of time, energy, and money. Many of our young women help to look after the children at Christ’s College. On a sunny day one can walk past our school swing with its cheerful red and yellow awning and see Vivian, Winnie, Carolyn, Elvira and others tossing balls, using colored chalk, or playing chase with Kaitlyn and Jamie. With the addition of Tianna to the Kelleher family, many are drawn to the wonder of holding a beautiful infant. On Sports Day students took turns watching Samuel while dad was busy making announcements over the loud speaker.

Concern for each other is a hallmark of our community. During the weekends many of our students help out in churches with childcare, music, and evangelism in addition

to their regular worship. Others care for parents, brothers and sisters physically with cooking and shopping or spiritually through prayer and counsel. Students occasionally show up at a teacher’s apartment door bearing cough drops and cold medicine. Others have arranged a tear-ful, surprise “Good-bye” at the airport for a faculty member. Our young men have spent hours helping an injured dorm-mate recover his speech and learning patterns. One young woman helps classmates by e-mailing and explaining assignments plus gathering groups for study sessions. Others help classmates learn lines for senior dramas.

The joy of being here is to see Christianity at work. The staff is compassionate, going far beyond the call of duty – from the guards who watch out for those getting on buses or in taxis, to the working ladies who so willingly rush to help carry garbage or laundry. Can we count the times when Kevin Pei has gone out of his way to offer a ride to the MRT station? The hours Mr. Tsai has come to check the electrical plugs? The hours Ya-Ting has poured over schedules?

The faculty and administration are merciful, also. Teachers pray for students and offer counsel. They have devotions in their homes weekly, complete with brownies! They spend summers writing workbooks and manageable textbooks to facilitate learning. Some offer indepen-dent studies to students who need to complete a course before graduation. Teachers agonize over “tough love” when a student needed to manage time better and give extra time for overdue projects when a student’s parents are ill. Student Affairs come alongside when students falter or need financial help. Administrators also work hard on the detai ls of regis t ra t ion and accreditation so our students will have a recognized degree.

As I walk past the “C” flags lining our driveway and stop at the “C” for compassion,I know that compassion is exemplified at Christ’s College. Through the mercy of our Triune God we reflect Christ’s righteousness as we strive to be “like Him.” May the Lord be pleased to grow us as individuals and to show us how to be “echoes of mercy, whispers of love.” (from a hymn by Fannie Crosby)

第二屆的基督徒英語文教師教學學會年度研討會

順利圓滿成功。比起第一屆之盛況有過之而無不

及。然而這一切的過程充滿驚奇和神蹟。事實上在

研討會數週前,報名人數仍不樂觀,我們透過臉書

和電子郵件呼籲有意願報名者快快行動。接著梅姬

颱風來襲,也引起取消和延期的疑慮。然而林玲琦

老師(CETA的負責人)以信心宣告:「這個週末會是

個晴天,我們不會取消原訂研討會行程」。

週五當天晴空普照,除此之外,我們收到人數不

少來自培基學院(http://tw.iblp.org/en/)的二十五位

美國年輕老師遲來的報名表,使得報名人數突破七

十人次。

研討會以基督書院校長聶坤廷的「不同凡響」演

講揭開序幕。校長的談話提醒在場聽眾英語教學這

個專業不只是一個工作,而是服事,我們扮演的不

只是英文教師,而是基督徒英語教師。之後一系列

的演講題目涵蓋廣泛,包括學術研究到理論應用。

比方說國立中央大學學習與教學研究所的知名教授

柯華威發表腦部對閱讀的運作模式最新的研究結

果。書院栗賽福老師講述「語言測量」。東吳大學

英文學系副教授Dr. Jonathan Klassen則是談到兒童文

學中的道德議題。凱薩琳美語顧問楊玉瑩則以實務

的觀點談到如何在教學中使用故事。彩虹美語戲劇

研發長李錦蓉分享戲劇中的肢體語言,南台科技大

學英語系講師 Amanda P. Wu 示範如何利用免費網路

資源提昇語言學習。而明新科技大學英語講師Frank

Varela老師提供許多在5分鐘內能完成的互動活動給老

師們課堂內靈活運用。最後銘傳大學Lovely Ko-Alagata

在提昇學生學習動機上提出良方「如何擁有傾聽的

耳和開放的心胸」。

學會最後進行問卷調查,針對書展、課程安排和

報名方式等項目做的問卷都得到很高的滿意度。學

員讚許報名費價格低廉,然而最讓我感到欣慰的是

參加者對研討會工作人員良好積極的工作態度給予

高度肯定。這一群基督書院英語教學主修的學生是

最早到會場佈置,也是最後一個離開會場完成清潔

工作的人。我感到欣慰的不只是因為這一群學生讓

參加者賓至如歸,更是因為他們因著擁有關懷憐憫

的心所展現服事人的基督徒典範。

要做到「憐憫」二字是不容易,甚至是痛苦的過

程。CETA的成立是為了身處於台灣的基督徒英語教

師一個在靈命和專業上成長的平台,當初成立並沒

有固定財源支持。然而身為基督徒英語教師不可忘

記耶穌為我們而死,三天後復活,不只是要賜給我

們永生,祂還要救贖我們的心靈和工作,以至於我

們也可以學祂的樣式,將恩典施予學生和同事的身

The 2nd Christian English Teachers’ Association Annual Symposium (CETA) which was held on Oct. 23 to 24 turned out to be even more of a success than the first CETA. Yet, just weeks before the event, pre-registration was still in the single digits. A final call for registrants via email and Facebook was made. Just days before, Typhoon Megi hit the island, causing many to assume that the 2nd CETA would be cancelled or postponed. Yet CETA Coordinator, Barbara Lin, said in faith, “This weekend will be sunny. We’re not cancelling.”

Friday came -- and indeed, it was sunny! Furthermore, quite a few late registrants bolstered the total number to over 70 from around the island. Among the late registrants were 25 young American teachers from the Institute in Basic Life Principles (http://tw.iblp.org/en/).

The conference began with a speech by Dr. Quentin Nantz, the President of Christ’s College. The title of his talk, “Making a Difference,” reminded the audience of our need to make our profession a ministry, for we are not just English teachers, but Christian English teachers. Afterward, a variety of CETA sessions addressed interests from academic research to the application of existing theory. For example, Dr. Hwa-wei Ko (Distinguished Professor of the Graduate Institute of Reading and Learning at the National Central University), presented recent research on how the brain reacts to reading. Joseph Sorell of Christ’s College spoke on “Measuring Corpora: How can you compare something that has thousands of dimensions?” Dr. Jonathan Klassen (Chairperson of the Department of English Language and Literature at Soochow University) discussed morality in children’s literature.

Less academic, but more immediately practical, Catherine Yang Eisele from Kaiser Kastle spoke on using story in teaching. Lisa Lee of Rainbow Educational spoke on “Body Language in Drama.” And Amanda P. Wu (Southern Taiwan University) demonstrated how free

on-line tools may enhance language learning. For those needing a little spice (or a time filler) in their lesson plans, Frank Varela of Ming-Hsin University of Science and Technology shared a vast number of five minute, interactive activities to begin and end lessons. Finally, for those needing a motivational “shot in the arm,” Lovely Ko-Alagata (Ming-Chuan University) discussed how to have “an attentive ear and an open heart.”

A survey conducted of the participants showed high satisfaction with the book fair, the schedule, the registration procedure, the low membership fee, and a number of other features. However, most delightful was what the participants found to be the most satisfactory: the symposium workers. The Christ’s College TESOL students rated highest of all for their helpfulness and great attitude. They were the first ones to arrive and the last ones to leave, from setup to cleanup. Not only did our participants feel well-served, but our students have also genuinely embraced a Christian model of service, which comes from a heart of compassion. Delightful!

As implied in its etymology (compati = suffer with, feel pity), compassion can be difficult, even painful. Similarly, CETA was founded with compassion for Christian English teachers in Taiwan who need a forum for the spiritual dimension of professional development. As Christians who happen to be English teachers, we must never forget that Jesus Christ died and rose again, not merely to give us eternal life, but also to redeem our minds and our professional practices so that by all means we may extend grace to our students and colleagues.

「憐憫」這個字在我們的日常生活中常常聽到,好比

我們看到一個飢寒交迫的乞丐;一個露著無助眼神在飢

餓中的非洲孩童,憐憫之心就油然而生。「憐憫」是表

達一種同情,一種感同身受的同理心,而被憐憫的對

象,通常都是遭逢人生苦難的人,或是社會中弱勢的族

群。他們需要他人向他們施以恩澤,伸出接納、幫助、

溫暖的手,給予人間最深層的關懷與愛護,好讓他們能

脫離人生的苦境。我們基督徒常給人的印象是很好心,

有愛心,很願意幫助有需要的人,然而我們之所以能表

現出愛心和憐憫之心,是因為我們要證明基督徒擁有高

超的社會關懷嗎?或是要顯明一種宗教性的人道主義

呢?我們基督徒對「憐憫」的了解與行動又和其他宗教

的慈善行為有何不同呢?

從 神啟示的真理-聖經中,我們看出了端倪;基督

徒向眾人所顯之「憐憫」之心並不是出於我們個人的宗

教動機,乃是因為我們所敬拜,所事奉的 神是有豐盛憐

憫的 神。而 神這美善的屬性,竟然可以點點滴滴地模

塑 神兒女的人格特質使我們獲得一種神聖的角度與眼光

去看世人、世事;我們竟能因領受了 神全備的愛,而讓

我們這自私的人開始能傳遞基督的愛;我們能聆聽聖靈

When we see a beggar in winter or a starving African boy, a sense of “compassion” rises up in our hearts. “Compassion” is a way to express sympathy, and the recipients of our compas-sionate actions are usually people facing severe difficulties who need mercy so that they might be delivered from their painful situations. Christians generally give people the impression of being willing to help people in need, but on what grounds are we able to express our compassion? Are we trying to gain merit for the next life, as in some religions? What’s the difference between a Christian way of showing compassion and charitable behavior among other religions?

We can trace the answer from God’s revealed truth – the Bible. We are taught that compassionate Christian action does not stem from our own religious motivation, from our original nature, but from the God we worship and serve, the God who saved us from our sinful nature. He is a God of Compassion, and He enables us to share His divine nature, divine attributes, and obtain a divine perspective on life. Because we have received His perfect love, even selfish people like us have begun to pass on Christ’s self-denying love. Because He gave us new life, we begin to listen to His voice, and follow the guidance of the Sprit who counsels and moves us to love people. We learn from our Christian brothers and sisters how to love, how to show compassion, how to deny our “rights.” Through the illumination of the Spirit, we see how miserable we are, and how we became His redeemed and beloved children through God’s compassion. Then we are strengthened to obey God’s command to “forgive our debtors” just as God forgives

憐憫,成為蒙愛得救贖的兒女。故此, 神要我們「如

同祂」去免他人的債;「如同祂」去愛、去犧牲、去

捨己、去憐憫。

在聖經中我們看到 神是位憐憫的父親。祂不單是大

有權能,無所不知,無所不在、無所不能的;祂也是

良善、有信實的慈愛、忍耐、聖潔、公義及「憐憫」

的神。在出埃及記三十三章13節中記載耶和華 神與

摩西面對面,好像人與朋友說話一樣。摩西請求 神向

他顯明祂是何等的一位 神,雖然摩西在帶領以色列人

出埃及的過程中已經經歷了 神的大能,但是他要更深

的更全備地認識 神。在三十四章第6節中記載耶和華

在他面前宣告說:「耶和華、耶和華是有憐恤,有恩

典的 神,不輕易發怒,並有豐盛的慈愛和誠實。為千

萬人存留慈愛,赦免罪孽、過犯和罪惡。萬不以有罪

的為無罪,必追討他的罪。自父及子,直到三四代。

』於此 神宣告了祂至少十三項的屬性,其中最輝煌的

us (Matthew 6:12), to love others as God loves us, to sacrifice, to deny ourselves, and to show compassion as we also have received God’s compassion.

From the Bible we learn that our Almighty God also

reveals Himself as a compassionate Father, Who is good, faithful, loving, patient, holy, righteous, and compassionate. In Exodus 33:13, we find that when Jehovah God talked to Moses face to face like friends, Moses asked God to reveal Himself. Although Moses had experienced God’s power as he led the Israelites out of Egypt, he was eager to know Him more fully. Exodus 34:6,7 records: “Then the Lord passed by in front of him and proclaimed, THE LORD, THE LORD GOD, COMPASSIONATE and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth; who forgives iniquity, transgression and sin; yet He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations.” In this passage, the Lord God reveals at least 13 divine attributes, and the primary theme shines forth – He is a God of Compassion and Righteousness. This declaration accompanied the Israelites from generation to generation. We even can hear His voice, like the sound of many waters, proclaimed in temple worship . . . “The Lord, the Lord God, compassionate . . .” as recorded in the Books of Numbers, Psalms and the Prophets.

宣告伴隨著世世代代的以色列人,不論在民數記、

詩篇,先知書中,都記載著在以色列人的聖殿崇拜

中,歷世歷代以來那如大水般的聲音宣讀著「耶和

華“是有憐憫的 神…」!

在舊約的律法書中, 神要以色列人特別對窮人、

奴僕、寄居者、孤兒、寡婦、沒有土地的利未人予

以關懷。「祂為孤兒寡婦伸冤,又憐愛寄居的,賜

給他衣食。所以你們要憐愛寄居的,因為你們在埃

及也作過寄居的」(申十:19)。甚至在到迦南地

後,要百姓們都到全民的聖所守節期,婦女也要參

與,窮人、孤兒、寡婦和利未人也要一起守節,

c h i l dren without fathers, widows, and Levites who do not own the land. (See Deuteronomy chapters 10-24.) The Book of Deuteronomy 10:18-19 proclaims, “He executes justice for the orphan and the widow, and shows His love for the alien by giving him food and clothing. So show your love for the alien, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt.” In Deuteronomy 16:11-12, after the Israelites entered the land of Canaan, God says, “and you shall rejoice before the Lord your God, you and your son and your daughter and your male and female servants and the Levite who is in your town, and the stranger and the orphan and the widow who are in your midst, in the place where the Lord your God chooses to establish His Name. And you shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt, and you sha l l be carefu l to observe these s ta tu tes .” In Deuteronomy 24:19-21, the Lord asked the Israelites to leave grain, olives and grapes behind for the outsiders, widows and fatherless children when they were gathering crops. He promises blessing in doing this.

God is not commanding us to be humanitarians nor religious people with social concern; He teaches us that anyone who has experienced life as a slave, a stranger, a helpless and homeless person far away from His Father, and who has also had experienced the wonder of the Father’s compassion, would acknowledge it his duty to show compassion to others. 要教導我們一些社會正義、社會關懷的人道觀念

嗎?祂不斷地提醒以色列人,要回想,要紀念你

以前也是寄居者,為奴的,然而當你蒙了 神的恩

慈憐憫後,就要將 神如何憐憫你的作為,如此行

在那些和你以前在 神面前有著同樣光景的人身上。

這一切都出自於你更認識 神,並你更認識自己是

蒙了何等大的憐憫。我們也奇妙的發現,根據 神

啟示漸近的原則,在新約雅各書中,使徒更明確

地說「在 神我們的父面前,那清潔沒有玷污的虔

誠,就是看顧在患難中的孤兒寡婦…。」(雅各

書一:27)。原來從舊約到新約, 神要蒙憐憫者去

憐憫那軟弱、無助、窮困的。我們如此去做,則

證實了我們是蒙恩之人。我們若不如此去做,不

單他人看不出我們的信仰,我們得憐憫的權利則

也斷絕了。

revelation, we see this same principle of compassion in the New Testament: “Here are the kinds of beliefs that God our Father accepts as pure and without fault, when widows and children who have no parents are in trouble, take care of them. . .” (James1:27) From the Old Testament to the New Testament, we realize that the Lord commands us to show our compassion to the helpless in order to manifest that we were once helpless too, but we have experienced His Compassion. If we don’t show our compassion to people in need, people have no way to know the Compassionate God.

Luke 10 tells of a Jewish teacher of the law who asked

Jesus what he must do to receive eternal life. Actually, he knew the answer as written in the Law -- “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Love Him with all your strength and with all your mind” (Deuteronomy 6:5) and “Love your neighbor as you love yourself” (Leviticus 19:18). But when Jesus asked him to follow this commandment, the teacher asked, “And who is my neighbor?” Jesus answered with an illustration of a man attacked by robbers. The religious leaders passed by on the other side, but a Samaritan who was despised by the Jews saw the wounded man and showed compassion by pouring oil and wine on his wounds and bandaging them. He put the man on his donkey, took him to an inn, and cared for him. The next day he gave two silver coins

感謝信。突然間我領悟了,我雖不知道他們是誰,但

我們與他們分享天父創造給我們的身軀,因為這一切

也都是從 神領受的,我相信這是見證 神的憐憫的舉

動,讓那些等候器官捐贈多年的病人,從 神的憐憫中

得到安慰。這也使得我的兒子和我們全家和他們成為

了鄰舍的關係。哪裡有出於憐憫愛的舉動,那兒就有

我的鄰舍!

憐憫之心當以愛作為表達,憐憫是與接受者更深的聯

合。希伯來文字中形容憐憫的深度如深入人體的子宮;

希臘文亦將憐恤形容為如同深及腸的內部。在聖經中,

憐憫這個字亦常以動詞表達,表明他必須是一個行動。

主耶穌要彼得饒恕得罪他的弟兄七十個七次,因彼得必

須認知他自己是蒙了大恩的罪人;主也要彼得「憐恤

你的同伴,像我憐恤你一樣」!(太十八:33)當主耶

穌在世時,福音書記載「祂看見許多人就憐憫他們,

因為他們困苦流離,如同羊沒有牧人。」(太九:36)

在這苦難的世代中,願我們看得見人的困苦流離而

憐憫他們;願我們看得見弟兄的窮乏,不塞住憐憫的

心(約壹三:17);願我們回應使徒保羅所宣示的「…

憐憫人的就當甘心」(羅十二:8)。

to the recipient. In the Bible, we often find this word expressed as a verb; compassion is an action. Jesus asked Peter to forgive his brother seventy times seven, because Peter himself was a sinner under God’s mercy. Jesus encouraged Peter, “Should you not also have had mercy on your fellow slave, even as I had mercy on you?” (Matthew18:33) When Jesus was on earth, “seeing the multitudes, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and downcast like sheep without a shepherd.” (Matthew 9:36)

In this lost generation, may we Christians express compassionate action to suffering people. May we demonstrate compassionate action to brothers and sisters in need, for “whoever has the world’s goods, and beholds his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him?” (I John 3:17) May we all respond to the declaration of the Apostle Paul: “. . . he who shows mercy, [let him do it] with cheerfulness.” (Romans 12:8)

在新約路加福音第十章中有個律法師問耶穌如何做才

能承受永生?耶穌說「你要盡心、盡性、盡力、盡意愛

主你的 神,又要愛鄰舍如同自己」,那人就理直氣壯

地說「誰是我的鄰舍」?耶穌用一個落在強盜手中的人

作比喻,這個人被強盜打得半死,宗教領袖們經過他,

都閃過去了,只有一個被以色列人看不起的撒瑪利亞人

經過,他動了慈心,用油和酒倒在他的傷口包紮好,扶

他上自己的牲口,帶他到酒店照應他,第二天拿出二錢

銀子給店主,請店主照顧他,他還說若有其他的費用,

他回來再補給店主。耶穌的比喻顯明這撒瑪利亞人不單

做了仁慈、憐憫的事,他還多做,盡力地去幫助這可憐

人。而他正是那可憐人的鄰舍,換句話說,誰以憐憫恩

慈的行動待人,就決定了誰是你的鄰舍,你又是誰的鄰

舍。這就是先知和律法的總綱,這出於憐憫愛的行動是

聯絡全德的,出於憐憫愛的行動就貫徹了那最大的誡命

(路加十:27)。

二零零八年五月,我的兒子在澳洲墨爾本讀書,一日

在等公車時,被一個疑似吸毒的女子駕車撞死在巴士站

牌前。我們全家去了之後,他已被宣佈腦死。我們立即

做了決定捐贈他的所有器官(除了骨骼和皮膚)給將近

七、八個病人。後來我們陸陸續續地收到接受者的匿名

The Samaritan demonstrates a compassionate heart, and helps this poor man with all his heart, strength, and mind as the Lord commands us to serve God with all our strength, heart, soul and mind. Loving our neighbor compassionately fulfills the law and the prophets, and carries out God’s great commandment.

On May 9, 2008, my 17-year-old son, Samuel Hsiung, who

was studying in Melbourne, Australia, was standing at a bus stop when he was killed in a hit and run incident. The next day when all of the family members arrived in the ICU, Samuel was proclaimed brain dead. Since he was young and healthy, we decided to donate most of his organs. We have received several letters of appreciation from the recipients. Since my son was no longer living in this physical world, we wanted to share those organs – on loan from our Creator God -- with sick people who had been waiting for a long time. We did this as a Christian witness to God’s love. May these neighbors be comforted by God’s compassion!

Love is the proper demonstration of a compassionate heart, but compassion means showing an even deeper union with the recipient. In Hebrew, “compassion” is like reaching into the womb; in Greek, “compassion” refers to the intestines, also in the depths of the human body. Thus, we understand that the one who is acting compassionately should be deeply connected

1979年畢業校友 張櫻美於2010年05月31日病

逝於情人湖長庚醫院,6月27日下午2:30在基隆殯儀館景

行廳舉行公祭。

1980年班校友鄭容於7月15日因癌症過世,於8

月4日早上十點半在第二殯儀館火化,7日上午十點鐘在台

北信友堂舉行追思禮拜。

1995年班夏韻涵校友於12月29日因癌症過

逝。1月16日於靈糧堂舉行追思禮拜。

1993年班宋提多校友,現任桃園真愛教會

牧師於10月29日回母校在chapel講道。宋牧師分享了

當初 神如何帶領他到書院讀書並且改變他的生命,

也透過在工作會的服事中認識潘雅心師母(1992年班

校友)。

1999年班陳迎曦校友於11月22日回母校與大

三、大四的學弟妹分享他在書院的校園生活以及他過去

5年在鴻海集團擔任人事主管的工作經驗。他的分享給

學弟妹們有許多的激勵。

1993 alumnus, Titus Sung, pastors Tao-Yuan True Love Baptist Church. He spoke in the CC chapel on October 29. Pastor Sung shared how God led him to CC and changed his life. He also met his wife (1992 alumna) through service in the Evangelical Association.

1999 alumnus, Peter Chen, returned to campus on November 22 and encouraged students through sharing about his life, including his work experience in a high-tech company.

1997 alumnus, Timothy Ko, is the pastor of Pingtung Peace Presbyterian Church. He returned to Christ’s College and preached in chapel on December 10th. Pastor Ko’s topic was “Compose a Movement of Grace.” God gave him a lot of musical talent, so he began composing hymns when he was a college student.

A Musical Thanksgiving Buffet, hosted in the newly-renovated CC cafeteria on December 5th, included musical performances by alumni, a report from Dr. Nantz, and testimonies by freshman Eunice Chang and senior Gabriel Chen. Finally, everybody sang “Happy Birthday!” to CC, and Rev. David White offered a benediction.

1997年班葛兆昕校友,現任屏東和平長老教

會牧師於12月10日回母校在chapel講道。葛牧師分享的主

題是「譜出恩典的樂章」。 神賜給葛牧師有許多音樂

的恩賜,因此當他在學生時期就寫了許多動人的詩歌。

12/10(五)晚上在書院餐廳舉辦了一場音樂感

恩餐會。餐會中除了享用外燴的美食之外也享受了王

明恩,陳沙崙,陳保羅等校友帶來精彩的音樂表演。

聶坤廷院長在餐會中也向與會來賓報告書院的近況,

希望大家繼續為書院禱告也能幫助學校未來的發展。

一年級的張友馨和高年級的陳智玟也在眾人面前分享

他們生命的見證。最後餐會在唱生日快樂歌及白大衛

牧師的祝禱後,畫下了完美的句點。

12/11(六)早上10:00在禮拜堂舉行感恩禮拜後

有園遊會及學生才藝的表演。此外下午在體育館內也

有書院男子籃球隊對1992年班林忠志校友領軍的夢幻

校友籃球隊的精彩比賽。下午在餐廳3樓有校友座談

會,參與的校友們也都有達成共識,希望校友會的理

監事代表能在2011年儘快改選,書院也願意支持及協

助校友會的運作。

Founder’s Day, celebrated December 11 this year, began with a service of thanksgiving, followed by a “Garden Party” of student sales and a Talent Show. In addition, 1992 alumnus, Steve Lin, led the alumni basketball team in a game against the CC basketball team in the newly-renovated gym. In a symposium in the Riverside Room, alumni agreed on the need to re-elect representatives and run the alumni association as early as possible in 2011. CC will support and help the alumni association in the future.

再一次緊握他們的手

這首詩歌叫”差遣我”,是我弟弟很喜歡的一首詩歌,就像

這首歌一樣 神回應他,使用了他的生命。上帝把他帶到了墨爾

本,讓他能夠成為上帝對當地留學生和教會的祝福,更是成

為我與我家的祝福,願 神使這個故事成為所有聽到的人的祝

福。

我的弟弟活了超精彩的194個月又10天,小時候迷路過、出

過國、交過女朋友、也把家裡弄失火過、也出國留學了,只

是作夢也想不到竟然會在國外離開世界。16歲那年到了墨爾

本,17歲生日過後的母親節因為車禍在墨爾本被上帝接回了

天家。2008年在台灣慶祝母親節的我們接到了一通電話,說弟

“Send me, Lord” was my brother, Samuel’s favorite song. Just as these lyrics say, God answered him and used his life. God had taken him to Melbourne to let him be a blessing to the students studying abroad and his church. Moreover, he is a blessing to my family. May God bless all who read this story.

Samuel lived 194 months and 10 days. He went to Melbourne when he was sixteen. He went to heaven when he was seventeen. It was on Mother’s Day. We received a phone call when we were at church. Samuel was in a car accident, and he was in the emergency room. We didn’t know any other details. As mom prepared to go to Australia, she told me: ”Samuel is with God, don’t be afraid. Our God won’t do anything wrong. “ Then my father, mother and I got to Melbourne. When we were in the hospital, a Christian brother that I never saw before took me to the emergency room that looked like a movie setting. I went to into Samuel’s room nervously with a heart that really wanted to see him. I was not afraid because of God’s love. I stood beside him with my tears coming down like rain. Every tear shouted for our broken heart, but we knew this was from God. We could see God’s compassion for us. Even though Samuel was in a car accident, outwardly he was not hurt so much. Samuel was taller than the normal Australian, so his feet stuck out the end of the bed. I held his hand. His sleeping face was the same face we saw when he was a child. I put my ear to his chest. I wanted to remember his heartbeat, how it sounded and the speed. We decided to donate his organs, with the hope that his life would help other people. That night we said good-bye to Samuel and pushed him to the operating room. This was really hard and hurt so much. After several hours, the hospital gave us a call, and told us the donation operation was finished. When we saw him again, our heart was in even more pain. We touched him, kissed him,

弟弟生命的結束是祝福的開端,是 神榮耀的印記之

一,這件事真的看到了 神的愛和憐憫。我一直相信

神是因為愛弟弟也愛我們,所以才要帶他回家,我相

信上帝也會心痛,他自己創造了這個生命然後又要將

他帶離世上,祂應該比我們都難過,只是在他的難過

裡有愛、有盼望、有永恆的計畫。在祂永恆的愛裡沒

有懼怕,是我烙在心裡最大的經歷。我弟弟的生命改

變了我的生命,我的思想越來越多在 神的身上,我

再次的把生命的主權交給祂,真是渴望更多的人能夠

知道祂認識祂。 神因為祂的愛和憐憫讓耶穌來到世

上為我們死,我的弟弟不是耶穌,他能做的不多,但

是真的發生難以想像的是,因為弟弟所以那裏的教會

開始關心留學生;很多基督徒和澳洲人也受感動,弟

弟的同學開始想知道教會是什麼,連我的朋友和書院

的基督徒、非基督徒同學都看見了 神的作為,甚至

有非督徒同學跟我說他有為我們家禱告,上帝的愛和

憐憫不僅僅是對我的弟弟或是我們家族,祂的愛和憐

憫更是向所有聽到這事,記得這事的人張開永恆慈愛

的雙手。

「我實實在在地告訴你們,一粒麥子不落在地裏死

了,仍舊是一粒,若是死了,就結出許多子粒來。」

約翰福音十二章24節。

held his hand again. Again, I put my ear to his chest, It was quiet. Then I knew we were really separated.

I experienced God’s love and compassion in the process of facing Samuel’s death. I’ve always believed that God loves my brother and my family and that He has a plan for us. He knew the best time to take Samuel back to heaven. God hurts more than us because God created Samuel. The difference is in God’s hurt, there was perfect love, hope, and it was part of His eternal plan. “In his eternity, love has no fear.” My brother’s life changed my life and my mind fixes more and more on God. I rededicate my life to God and I surrender myself under His throne. God put more burdens on me to share the Gospel to people around me. God loves us so much that He sent Jesus to die for us. My brother is not Jesus and what he could do is limited. But what’s beyond my understanding and imagination is that the churches in Australia start to do ministry for foreign students. A lot of Christians and people in Australia were greatly moved and some of Samuel’s classmates were interested in going to church. A lot of friends and classmates at Christ’s College experienced God’s power and strength through praying for Samuel and for my family. Even non-Christians told me that they prayed for us. God’s love and comfort does not rest only on my family, but on anyone who knows and cares about what happened to us. His merciful arms will reach out to all who remember this experience.

“ I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.” John 12:24

弟出了車禍在醫院急救當中,其他的什麼也不知道,

在掛電話預備要去澳洲的同時,我的媽媽堅定的告訴

我,”弟弟一定在上帝那裡,不要怕,上帝一定不會

做錯事情”,接著媽媽、爸爸和我先後都到了墨爾

本。到了當地的醫院,一位我不認識的教會弟兄帶我

走進了像電影一樣的醫院急診室,我抱著一個緊張但

是渴望見到他的心情走進了他房間。上帝的愛使我一

點都不害怕面對這一切,我安靜站在他的床邊,雖然

眼淚一直掉,雖然每一滴眼淚都在為我們撕裂的心吶

喊,但是我的心知道這事是出於 神,也知道 神憐憫

我們,他雖然出車禍但是他的外表幾乎沒受什麼傷,

他長得比一般澳洲人還高大,頭跟腳都在床的外面,

我牽起了他的手(一年了弟弟還真的有一點變帥),他睡

著的表情就跟小時候的照片一模一樣。我把耳朵靠在

他已經變成青年寬闊的胸膛,努力的想要記得他的心

跳,是怎麼樣的聲音,怎樣的速度…。我們決定要把弟

弟的器官捐贈,希望他的生命可以幫助更多人。到了

晚上要推進手術房的時候真的有說不出的痛苦,幾個

小時過後醫院打電話給我們說手術做完了,我們走進

去,心裡同時有人的難過卻也有上帝的盼望。我們摸

摸他、親吻他,我又一次牽起他的手,再一次把耳朵

貼近他的胸膛時,我真的知道,在這個世界…我們真的

分離了。

白貝姬 英語主修老師在基督書院這樣的跨文化環境中,關懷一直是一項

很重要的特質。基督書院的創立,就是因為美國的基

督徒基於對台灣學生缺少機會接觸基督教開放式教育

的關心而設立。這樣的關心,就一直持續了五十一

年。美國的教會和宣教士們以提供基督書院教員、捐

款和擔任董事會成員等方式支持學校。這樣的關心使

得校園中因為有美籍教師而顯現出國際化的面貌。而

這樣的關懷也產生連鎖的漣漪效應,其中包含有關懷

台灣地區甚至是海外地區未信主的人們。

工作會

從一九六零年起,工作會就有每個禮拜聚會,禱

告、分享和裝備。在寒暑假期間這些工作會同工放棄

旅行和打工機會,全心擺上時間到未信主之民中去傳

福音。他們藉由挨家挨戶的探訪分享福音、教導小朋

友們聖經課以及舉辦英文營等活動服事這群人們。平

地工作從一九七五年起、種籽工作會從一九八零年起

到澎湖的漁村服事。原住民工作會(以前的山地工作

會)曾到很多地方服事,像是宜蘭、花蓮、台中、烏

來、司馬庫斯、苗栗甚至綠島和蘭嶼等離島等區域。

原來為了一星期一次的主日學創立的兒童福音工作

會,後來演變成與一些地方的教會合作一起服事兒童

福音事工。這個工作會的輔導劉益如是基督書院早期

的校友,也是書院長期服務的同工。她同時把握機會

到對福音不友善的國家去裝備主日學的老師們。客家

工作會則是在七零到九零年代一直關心著客家族群。

平地工作會開始是在鄰近的馬偕醫院傳福音,現在則

延伸到其他區域的孩童身上。

孩子們的禮物鞋盒

神愛兒童之家的孩子們在農曆過年時露出燦爛笑

臉,拆開基督書院師生為他們精心準備的禮物鞋盒。

這幾年基督書院的學生們和老師們每到中國新年前

夕,就會準備一盒盒的禮物給神愛兒童之家的孩子

們。這是一個位於台灣的北部、由宣教士所建立的育

幼院,院中有很多孩童是原住民孩童。就像葛理翰基

金會每年為孩童在聖誕節所舉辦的撒瑪利亞人錢包活

動,這些鞋盒給書院人一個學習給予的機會。

海外短宣隊

有時候基督書院也會有機會到海外宣教。在二零零

七年,由兩位老師、一位母親、兩位職員和五位學生

所組成的短宣隊到菲律賓服事。受到世界海外宣教差

會在馬尼拉當地宣教團之招待,基督書院短宣隊以畫

畫、手工藝、英文歌、故事、烘培、臉部彩繪和速食

店的雞肉大餐讓兒童之家的小男孩和小女孩開心無

比。在二零零六年,有兩位老師、四位學生所組成的

短宣隊勇敢地挑戰酷熱的印度,拜訪了北部的兒童之

家和教會。詩歌、得救見證、陪伴孩子們和文化交流

等活動體現了基督書院短宣隊和當地的互動過程,也

擴大了他們對 神在亞洲其他文化異象的了解。

當你將石頭擲到池塘中時,所產生的漣漪會延伸

到我們表面看不到的範圍。祈願 神也藉著我們在基

督書院對所接觸到的每個家庭、孩子和社區所做的關

懷,加倍祝福更多的人和更多的地方。

Compassion at Christ’s College has always commanded a powerful cross-cultural component. The college was founded by American Christians with a concern for students in Taiwan who lacked opportunities for a Christian liberal arts education. This care has continued for 51 years as American churches and missionaries have supported the college by providing faculty members, donations, and leadership on the board. Such care is immediately evident in the international mix of faces on our campus. Such care has a powerful ripple effect in multiple areas, including compassionate outreach to unreached people groups in Taiwan and beyond.

Evangelistic Associations

Since the 1960’s various Evangelistic Associations have met for weekly times of prayer, sharing, and training. Summer and winter vacations provide times for outreach to unreached people groups, with door-to-door evangelism, Bible classes for children, and English camps. Since 1975 the Plains & Seed Associations have traveled to PengHu’s fishing community. The Aboriginal Association (formerly the Mountain Association) has ventured into Ilan, Hualien, Taitung, WuLai, SzMaKuSz, Miaoli, and even to Green Island and Orchid Island. Originally established as training for weekly Sunday School outreach, the Children’s Evangelistic Ministry Team – cooperates with local churches to minister among children. The most recent trainer and leader of this team, a CC graduate and long-time staff

member Alice Liu, has also enjoyed the opportunity of providing training to Sunday School teachers in sensitive countries. The Hakka Association focused on Hakka people from the 70’s through the 90’s. The Plains Association began with evangelism in nearby communities such as Mackay Hospital, and now continues with outreach, primarily to children.

Overseas Trips

Occasionally, CC groups even have opportunities to minister overseas. In 2007 two teachers, one parent, two staff members, and five students flew to the Philippines. Hosted by Mission to the World’s Manila missionaries, the CC team delighted boys and girls at two children’s homes with arts and crafts, English songs and stories, baking, face-painting, and chicken meals from Jolibee’s. In 2006 two teachers, four students, and others braved India’s heat to visit children and churches in northern India, expanding their vision for God’s work in another Asian culture. Songs, Christian testimonies, playing with children, and cultural exchange characterized the CC team’s interactions.

When a stone splashes into a pond, the ripples extend far beyond what the eye can see. May God also continue to multiply His work beyond Christ’s College through our compassionate outreach to the families, children, and communities within our reach.

上個學期,大傳主修學會發動了社區關懷的

活動,到天母體惠育幼院幫忙,由於當天我還

有公務在身走不開,無法同行。結果到下午四

點左右,正當我埋首於繁多的公文之際,突然

接到學生的電話。她嘻嘻哈哈地說,「老師,

我們在育幼院,有一個小朋友想要跟妳講話,

妳等一下喔!」很快地,電話那邊傳來一個細

微怯弱的小女生的聲音:

「你是老師嗎?」「是阿!」「你都會跟你的學生玩嗎?」「嗯,會啊,我們會一起上課、聊天和遊戲」

我被這些問題問得摸不著頭緒,便問她「你

幾歲?」「叫甚麼名字?」等等,後來學生接過

電話,我才曉得,原來她們到育幼院跟小孩子

玩,這個十歲大的小女孩對於學生口中的「老

師」會跟他們如此親近,感到好奇與欣羨,於是她也

想跟我說說話!

從來,大傳主修就是師生打成一片,辦公室每天像

是菜市場一樣,我們已經很習慣,一旦放起長假來,

就會想念這些麻雀般的學生。不過那天那個小女孩的

問題,突然使我胸口一緊,有點難過。這個育幼院中

小小心靈實在渴望愛與關注,「她是誰?」一直在我心

裡盤旋。

十一月十九日大傳主修學會再度前往育幼院,這回

我排除萬難跟去看看學生們自發的關懷行動,當然也

要看看那位十歲小女孩。

一行人浩浩蕩蕩坐計程車或騎機車前往,經過天母

繁華的商店街,繞到山邊溪旁的豪華別墅區,旁邊映

入眼簾的是一個十分簡單的低矮建築及一個小型的籃

球場。負責的同學前往交涉,原來今天小朋友在小學

上課,不在育幼院裡,無法跟她們互動作遊戲。既然

Later I learned from my students that this girl was very curious and admired the close relationships between teachers and students at Christ’s College. Actually, teachers in the Mass Comm Major are used to having students around. Our office usually sounds like a traditional market, full of chatter and laughter. It’s too quiet in the summer! However, the questions from the little girl at that afternoon really got my attention. “Who is she?” kept playing in my mind.

On November 19, the student association planned to visit Ti-Hwei again, and I decided to participate in this ministry. Of course, one of the reasons was that I really hoped to meet the ten-year old girl.

來了,我們就詢問有任何可以幫忙的? 院裡的老師問我

們是否可以幫忙打掃?當然可以!於是大家一起捲起

衣袖,拆洗電扇,又到男女生宿舍幫忙清洗窗戶、浴

室和廁所。雖然是一些粗重的工作,但同學們十分認

真,打掃得挺乾淨。女同學們洗刷紗窗和玻璃窗、圖

書室等,幾位男同學們特別地辛苦,他們自告奮勇地

去清洗浴室和廁所,拆裝所有沉重的玻璃窗。兩個多

小時下來,整個宿舍區變得窗明几淨,大家都很有成

就感。

幾位協助我們打掃的老師中,一位滿頭銀髮的長

者,原來就是體惠的創辦人-湯樂頌園長。她自民國

五十一年成立體惠育幼院,收容無人照料的小孩,靠

著耶穌基督賜給她的愛心與禱告,度過許許多多在經

濟上、物資上、精神上的困難,給孤苦無依的小孩提

供一個溫暖的家,培育他們成為有用的人。相較於湯

院長和其他在這裡奉獻一生的老師們,我們的勞動服

務一點也算不得甚麼。願上帝繼續祝福體惠的小朋友

與師長們,做他們的 神,他們的父。

More than ten students joined this activity. We passed through the shop-lined streets in TienMu and arrived at Ti-Hwei Children’s Home, a simple, one-story building with a small basketball court, surrounded by a community of luxury villas. We were told that the children were in school. It meant that we couldn’t play with the children, and I wouldn’t meet the girl at that time. Nevertheless, since we were already there, we started to help clean the classrooms and dorms. Our female students cleaned the windows, and the guys helped with some heavy work, such as cleaning the shower rooms the toilets, and setting up heavy glass windows. After just two hours, the dorms became very bright and clean, which made all of us very happy and satisfied.

One teacher with silver hair is the founder of Ti-Hwei, Mrs. Tang Le Song. She founded this children’s home in 1962 to care for needy children. Through the grace of God and much prayer, Mrs. Tang not only provides a warm home for the children, but also educates them to be contributing members of society. In the early years, they faced tremendous challenges and difficult ies – financially, materially, and emotionally. Compared to Mrs. Tang and other teachers who gave their whole lives for these children, our janitorial work seemed small; how-ever, the students really demonstrated compassion for the children. They have already promised to return once every two months. May the Lord continue to bless the children and teachers in Ti-Hwei. He is their God, and their Father.

九十二年七月董事會通過依「私立學校法」向

教育部申請立案;九十六年三月教育部准予籌設

「基督人文管理學院」;九十七年三月董事會鑒

於宗教研修學院之設立辦法即將實施,此類學院

更符合賈嘉美牧師之設校理想,為長遠發展,重

新檢討,暫緩立案之進行。

九十七年十一月董事會決議改為籌設基督教博

雅教育之台北基督學院,並著手撤銷「基督人文

管理學院」之籌設;九十八年元月教育部公告宗

教研修學院設立辦法;九十九年元月依「宗教研

修學院設立辦法」向教育部重新提出申請,籌設

「台北基督學院」;九十九年十一月十八日教育

部蒞校會勘。

秉持立校的使命與異象,將學校定位為:教學

型的學校、住校型的學校、重視倫理教育的學

校、注重品格教育的學校、雙語化的學校、僕人

領袖教育的學校與國際化的學校。

博雅教育重在深度與廣度之平衡。深度除在教

材內容體現外,亦在同學思辯、研究能力上的增

進。由於受限於招生名額的規定,僅籌設一個學

系 -- 「基督教博雅教育學系」,本系將分為三個

主修:傳播、英語及文學、音樂。

課程設計以博雅教育為藍圖,全體學生均須修

習博雅教育核心課程至少60學分;該核心課程重

點在於基督教信仰及英語課程。此外,學生也須

修習傳播、歷史、文學、管理、資訊、科學、數

學、健康教育、音樂,以及藝術課程。學生須修

畢128學分才能畢業,除修讀基督教博雅核心課程

至少60學分外,須自三種主修中選擇其一,包括

傳播、英語及文學、及音樂。修習傳播主修者,

須由兩項學程擇一攻讀:跨文化研究、大眾媒

介。修習英語及文學主修者,須由四項學程擇一

攻讀:基督教文學、國際企業、英語教學,及應

用英語。

立案之後,現行基督書院的學生將全數轉為學

分班學員,其原先選擇的主修課程,絲毫不受影

響,學校將以立案的師資和課程標準,讓同學繼

續完成四年的學業。由於法規的限制,全校立案

的學生僅能有兩百位。因此,將會以推廣教育學

分班的形式,開設符合教會事工需要的課程,雖

然教育部對於推廣教育的課程和師資給予更大的

自主性,但學校仍一本負責嚴謹的辦學精神,務

求給學分班等同於立案標準的優質教學,若學分

班學員要出國進修或深造,仍能得到國外大學的

承認。

若能完成立案,不僅讓同學在學位採認、助學

貸款等方面,可享有與其他大學學生同等的待

遇,更可以從海外招募有意受裝備的基督徒學生

來本校就讀。立案是學校事工另一階段的開始,

雖然面臨國內招生生源的挑戰,相信出於 神的帶

領,必能結出美好的果子,願將榮耀歸給祂。我

們手所做的工,願 神堅立!

Based on the Board of Directors’ 2003 decision, Christ’s College has been seeking registration with the Ministry of Education. The MOE agreed to the setup of Christ’s College of Humanity and Management in March 2007. When the laws of religious colleges began to be implemented in March 2008, the Board reconsidered the issue, deciding that the new religious route best fulfills the purpose and mission the founder had when he established Christ’s College.

The Board resolved to seek registration as a Christian liberal arts college named Taipei Christ’s College and at the same time revoked the setup of Christ’s College of Humanity and Management. The college applied to the MOE for registration as a Christian liberal arts college in January 2010. Since then, the process has been blessed and the review committee completed its site visit successfully on November 18.

Based on the mission and vision of the college, Christ’s College will feature itself as an instruction-oriented school, a residential school which requires all students to live on campus, a higher education institution that places a high priority on moral and character development, a bilingual environment, a training center for servant leadership, and a highly internationalized college.

The spirit of a liberal arts education seeks a balance between the depth and range of knowledge. Depth of knowledge can be reached not only in the content of a text, but also in the advancement of thinking and research ability in learners. To meet student number regulations, the college will have only one department, that is, a Christian Liberal Arts Department which includes three majors: Mass Communication, English Language and Literature, and Music. A liberal arts education lays out the blueprint of course design with 60 credits of liberal arts essentials. Bible and English courses form the core courses. In addition, students take courses in Mass Communication, History, Literature, Management, Information Technology, Science, Math, Health Education, Music, and Art. One hundred

and twenty eight credits are required for graduation. Beyond the 60 credits in liberal arts core courses, a student can choose a Mass Communication Major, an English Language and Literature Major, or a Music Major. Mass Communication students can choose a program emphasis in Cross-Cultural Studies or Mass Media. English Language and Literature students can choose among Christian Literature, International Business, TESOL, and Applied English.

When the College is registered under the Ministry of Education, all current Christ’s College students will be placed under an extension program. The college will use the same faculty and program standards in the extension programs as in the MOE-registered program. Thus, the quality and quantity of instruction and learning in the classes of current students will not be affected. In the future, since the college is restricted by government regulation to 200 MOE students, it will seek to offer courses that meet the needs of ministry and church development. Although the Ministry of Education gives more autonomy and flexibility to programs and faculty in the extension programs, the college, accredited with TRACS and affiliated with CCCU, will continue to seek excellence in providing education for these students. These students will be eligible for further study in affiliated colleges and universities in foreign countries.

Once the college is registered with the MOE, students will have recognized degrees, access to student loans granted by government-assigned banks, and other benefits that registered colleges share. The college can also recruit foreign Christian students who have hearts to be equipped for service in God’s kingdom. It will open a new era of the college in the Christian liberal arts education. In spite of facing the challenges in recruiting students that all universities and colleges in Taiwan share, we trust in the Lord’s guidance and believe that He will bring good fruit to His work at Christ’s College. May our work be established in Him and may the Lord be glorified.

緣起

綜觀基督書院的歷史,大家不難體悟基督書院的設立

與存在是真實地活出了深愛地土與矢志傳愛的特質與使

命。這樣的使命是透過對學生福音事工的堅持,並蘊含

在獨特的校園住宿生活與基督教教育裡的細膩愛顧與生

命塑造,也藉此表達對台灣土地深切的福音關顧。

走過了半世紀,值此二十一世紀扉頁之初,我們更清

楚的看見以基督教博雅教育為發展的基礎能更確切地展

現基督書院的初始異象,並回應對這片土地的關懷、福

音的傳播與神國青年的塑造。前所未有、創新獨特的大

使命獎學金計畫,就在這個過程裡孕育而生。大使命獎

學金計畫是奠基於基督教教育,而其精神與目標就是要

藉著招募有志基督徒青年並培育他們成為矢志神國的精

兵。

以下將就使命、宗旨、內容、與申請方式四個部分,

簡單的來介紹大使命獎助學金。

一、使命:

深愛地土、矢志傳愛,就是基督書院精神的最佳寫

照,基督書院的使命,即是回到耶穌基督所託付 神兒

女的大使命中(太 二十八:18~20),以基督的生命與榜樣,

神話語的力量與真道,來塑造培育神國青年,使之成為

宣教的器皿、福音與傳愛的使者。

【馬太福音 二十八:18-20】

28:18 耶穌進前來,對他們說:“天上地下所有的權柄、

都賜給我了。

28:19 所以你們要去,使萬民作我的門徒,奉父、子、聖

靈的名、給他們施洗。

28:20 凡我所吩咐你們的,都教訓他們遵守,我就常與你

們同在,直到世界的末了。

二、宗旨:

1. 本獎學金為招募有志基督徒青年,鼓勵就讀本校。

2. 奠基於基督教教育。

3. 與眾教會合作,共同培育矢志神國之基督徒青年學

子。

4. 俾使將來能為基督與教會成為宣教的器皿、福

音與傳愛的使者。

5. 藉此增進教會關係。

三、內容:

1. 本獎學金期程四年,於入學前申請,同學於審

核獲得本獎學金後,仍需按學校規定於每學年

初提出後續審核申請。

2. 按學年初提出申請,參加此計劃的同學,可獲

得當學年度每學期三萬元學費減免。

3. 學生將得到所屬教會的支持,包含禱告、事工

學習與參與、並牧養上的支持。

4. 參與學校所安排之師徒關懷、生命導師、成長

小組等事工活動,接受門訓、宣教訓練等課

程。

5. 跨文化宣教實習體驗

四、申請方式:

1. 必須於招生報名時提出申請,並於開學前完成

申請。(詳參本校網站各項獎助學金公告)

2. 為達協同培育之精神,所屬推薦教會,每年二

月、十月(每學期初),至少需為基督書院此計

劃奉獻NT$2,000元(每學年NT$4,000)作為支持。

3. 每學年大使命獎學金釋出名額,端視學年初大

使命獎學金基金額度訂定,並由申請候選人中,

評審核發。

最後,我們在此,以大使命獎學金的計畫,來

誠摯的歡迎有志之基督徒青年,透過所屬教會的

推薦,報考基督書院。

Since the establishment of Christ’s College fifty-one years ago, students have been sharing the Gospel throughout Taiwan through evangelical groups. The College carries out its mission of passing on God’s love by shaping character through life on campus. The Christian environment provides a loving place for students to develop both spiritually and professionally. As we look to the future we affirm that a Christian liberal arts education is important as we continue our mission. The Great Commission Scholarship Program is designed to recruit and cultivate youth for service in Christ’s Kingdom.

A. Mission:Passing on Christ’s love to His beloved is the spirit of

Christ’s College. The mission of the College is to lead Christ’s students to follow His Great Commission (Mathew 28:18-20). Students are to learn from the life and example of Christ and to be shaped by His power and truth so that they will become ambassadors of His love.

B. Purpose:1. To recruit and encourage young Christians to study at

Christ’s College.2. To offer students a firm foundation in Christian

education.3. To collaborate with churches to cultivate Christian

students.4. To mold students as emissaries of the Gospel & Christ’s

love5. To further relationships with churches.

C. Contents:1. This is a 4-year scholarship, for which students should

apply before enrolling as freshmen. In addition, students

must submit an application for review at the beginning of each subsequent academic year.

2. The s tuden t s i n th i s s cho la r sh ip p rogram, wi th applications submitted at the beginning of each academic year, may obtain a tuition reduction of NT$ 30,000 for each semester of that academic year.

3. The students should obtain support from their home church, including prayer support, participation in ministry, and shepherding.

4. Students must participate in a system of mentoring care, a growth group, and training in evangelism and discipleship, as arranged by the school.

5. Students wil l experience an internship in a cross-cul tural context.

D. Application:1. Applicants should refer to the college website and

apply for the scholarship before school opens.2. In order to cultivate church cooperation, the student’s

home church is requested to donate a minimum of NT$ 2,000 at the beginning of each semester to this program as a token of support.

3. The number of Great Commission Scholarship recipients each year is based on funds available at the beginning of the academic year, as well as the appli-cation of suitable candidates.

有一天林靜君(2008)同學如此說著:「人生苦短,

為何要住在單調的白牆內!」這一句話成為我們策劃油

漆美化女生宿舍牆壁計畫的起源。我們想把女生宿舍變

得活潑有光彩。然而,我們的目標不只是油漆工作,我

們要學生主動參與改造環境的任務。我們提供油漆、工

具以及技術指導,至於油漆所需要的熱忱和人力,則需

要學生自行負責。

女七舍是我們初試身手的第一目標。原本一片灰白的

牆,瞬間變成繽紛的色彩,牆上的上半部是淺黃色,下

半部是較深的黃色。兩層中間穿插花朵裝飾。之後,我

們陸續完成其他樓層。八舍是清晰美麗的淺綠。九舍是

可愛有魅力的粉紅和紫。十舍的大廳是藍色,通道則預

計要漆成淺藍色。

學生在油漆工作時的情形各顯本事,大部分的人在這

之前是完全沒有油漆經驗,連刷子都沒拿過。有的甚至

穿著漂亮衣服準備來工作。當然他們被叫回去換一件適

合油漆的衣服。我們稍作示範後,把刷子交給每一個幫

忙的同學,他們提了油漆桶就開始上工了。有的人選擇

在工作梯上漆上頭的牆面,有的人喜歡門和踢腳板的位

置。他們各顯本事表現令人印象深刻。同學在過程中充

分享受一起共事的樂趣。最後成果輝煌,原本一片白色

平淡的牆,現在因為多了一些色彩有了溫馨甜蜜家的感

覺了。女同學們已經為自己的”家”換上新裝。女生宿

舍已經不再一樣了。

未來可能還會有學生要繼續這項工程。我們仍然

會與她們一起同工,同時邀請總務處、輔導朱

老師一同協助他們達成願望,哪一天,女生

宿舍不再是女生宿舍,而是她們溫暖的

家,說不定到時校園就找不到白色

的牆,而是處處充滿繽紛色彩呢!

增添生活光彩Life is Too Short for White Walls!

According to Samantha Lin Sanford (Class of 2008), “Life is too short for white walls!” That has become our theme in making the women’s dorm a more cheerful place. However, our goal is more than that. We would like to encourage the girls to take an active part in making a difference in their environment. We provide the paint, other materials and guidance. They provide the manpower (or in this case the woman power!) and enthusiasm.

Our first adventure was the hall of the 7th dorm. The white walls soon became colorful yellows with sponge-painted flowers. Since then, we have painted the halls in the 8th dorm a beautiful light green, and the 9th dorm is pink and purple. The 10th dorm has a blue lobby.

You should see the girls paint! Most have never picked up a paint brush before. They often come to help wearing nice clothes – and are sent back to put on old clothes that can handle a little paint. After a short demonstration, the students are handed a brush and some paint and they go to work. Some choose to paint high and climb up the ladders. Others take on the main walls. Some do a great job; others seem to enjoy the fellowship more. The halls now have a more homey feeling, and the girls have made a difference in “their” dorm.

In the future, more girls may decide they want to paint and even take on other projects in the dorm. When they do, we will work with them, the General Affairs Office, and Wanda Chu, the dorm counselor, to make it happen. We want to help the students feel these are not just dorms, but “their dorms.” Who knows? One day there may be colorful walls all over campus!

的狀況牽動心智和心靈的發展(馬太 五:29

、30;雅各三:6)相同的,我們的思想、情

緒和靈命也會影響身體(箴言四:20-22;十

四:30)。因此我們教導學生保養照顧上帝

所賜的身體,好讓他們能擁有健全的心智、

心思和心靈,以全人服事造物主。

今年暑假體育館大規模整修是促進學生

身體健康的一大突破。老舊的籃球、PU場

地板凹凸不平有修補的痕跡,這次全部拆

除,底部水泥地面也都重新舖平再鋪上PVC

地板。整個牆面重新油漆,入口和緊急通

道都換上新門板。天花板裝置六具屋頂排

風扇、四具抽風機也都換新,確保體育館

內通風良好。

館內最大的改變是增設一區健身

中心。原有的舞台拆除改建成韻律

教室,教室內燈光明亮,兩邊鑲有

鏡子牆面,面向球場的牆則是透明

玻璃,寬敞舒適。地面用的是實木

地板,可增加柔軟彈性。二樓兩邊增設

健身房放置運動器材和舉重器。五部冷氣

機幫助學生即使在大熱天也有舒適的運動

空間。至於屋頂防水設施則是在平面屋頂

兩邊架設鋼鐵傾斜屋頂,預防颱風期間可

能產生的漏水問題。

Our bodies, minds, hearts and spirits are all created by God, and in His design, they are interconnected in a mysterious way. Our physical life affects our mind, heart and spirit (Matthew 5:29, 30; James 3:6). Likewise, our thoughts, emotions, and spiritual life can affect our bodies (Proverbs 4:20-22; 14:30). Therefore, we teach and encourage our students to take care of their bodies so that they might also have healthy minds, hearts and spirits, and may better serve God.

One big step towards encouraging students to take care of their bodies was made this summer through major renovations of the gymnasium. The old flooring of the basketball court, which was uneven and had many patches, was removed, and the cement floor was resurfaced to provide an even surface on which new PVC f loor ing was p laced . The res t o f the baske tba l l cour t a rea

was repa in ted , and new entrances and emergency doors were installed. Six turbine vents were installed on the roof and

the four electric attic vent fans were replaced to provide better cooling and airflow.

The biggest change was the addition of a fitness center. The stage was converted into an aerobics and dance room with bright lights, mirrors along

two walls, and a large glass wall looking out onto the basketball court. The room has

real wood flooring that is suspended in order to provide cushioning. The second floor area above

the stage now has a room for exercise equipment, and the end that used to have a dressing room was made into a weight room. The fitness center also has five air conditioning units to provide a comfortable exercise environment, even on the hottest days.

Finally, to protect these new renovations, metal sloping roofs were built above the old flat roofs at both ends of the gym in order to prevent water leakage during rainstorms.

These renovations to the gymnasium have created excitement among the students. The students used to complain about the air quality and the mosquitoes in the basement, where the weights and exercise equipment used to be. Now, they enjoy the new fitness center, which has better airflow, air conditioning, fewer mosquitoes, and a new aerobics room.

“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.”1 Corinthians 6:19, 20
