The market for power semiconductors, LEDs, MEMS and other high value-added semiconductor products is continuing to grow, backed by Green New Deal policies implemented by different developed countries. Here at Sojitz Machinery, we sell manufacturing machinery covering all processes, from upstream to downstream, to domestic and overseas manufacturers alike. We also sell semiconductor materials, including silicon carbide (SiC) hardware, which is attracting a great deal of attention as a next generation material for power semiconductors. We place particular focus on one overseas manufacturer, Hanmi Semiconductor, Inc. Sojitz Machinery acts as a dealer for this leading Korean semiconductor equipment manufacturer with a very large global market share to sell its products to domestic corporate customers.

The automotive secondary battery market is continuing to expand amid mounting awareness of energy conservation and the environment. Sojitz Machinery provides domestic and overseas customers with secondary battery manufacturing equipment for hybrid vehicles (HVs), plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHVs), electric vehicles (EVs) and fuel cell vehicles (FCVs). Our engagement in this market dates back to the days when the market was just starting to grow in the mid-1980s. Today, we have accumulated a long track record. Now we deliver equipment mainly for the downstream process (assembly process) to carmakers and battery manufacturers. For overseas customers, we export to Chinese manufacturers for both upstream (electrode production) and downstream processes.

We sell various types of potato-related processing equipment produced by European manufacturers to large Japanese foodstuff & snack manufacturers. We also act as the agent of a leading manufacturer in Italy and offer pasta-making equipment. In response to rising public awareness concerning food safety and security, and labor savings, we are working hard to offer metal detectors, color sorting machines, sterilizers, automated systems and other similar devices. We also provide support for companies opening plants in other countries. The wide variety of equipment services at our disposal enables us to offer solutions tailored to the needs of our customers.

Forster Japan is a brand of wine cellars with the largest share in the market, commanding nearly 50% of the Japanese wine cellar market. We import and sell high performance forestry machines, including harvesters and processors, which provide a number of benefits, such as helping to increase the productivity of forestry, enhance safety, and cut down on labor. Through these efforts, we have built up a track record of more than 30 years in the field of forestry. We have been providing a wide range of processors, including felling, logging, loading, carrying, wood crushing, and wood chipping to forestry associations and forestry related companies in Japan. They all hold the machines and services we provide in high regard. We hold a large market share in the forestry machinery market in Japan. We are working to solidify our position as the industry leader by offering all-inclusive solutions, such as the handling of related components. We handle the import, export, and offshore-trade transactions with Japanese and overseas oil & gas, petrochemical plant end users as well as plant engineering companies to supply heat exchangers, pressure vessels, compressors, and other equipment and components. In the field of combustion equipment, we inherited the thermal technologies from the former KUWABARA Corporation. Using these technologies, we design, manufacture, and provide after-sales services for the process burners for heating furnaces, the reformer furnaces for oil refineries and petrochemical operators, and duct burners for the reheating of flue gas for gas turbine co-generation systems. We have delivered large quantities of equipment to customers in Japan and overseas. In the area of liquefied natural gas (LNG), we have been working to provide Open Rack Vaporizers (ORV), Boil off Gas (BOG) Compressors, Ceryogenic Valves and other LNG related- equipment to LNG receiving terminal. We are also making intensive efforts for LNG terminal and tanks’ engineering procurement construction coordination. In addition, we are the exclusive agent in Japan of plasma heating systems produced by the U.S.-based Phoenix Solutions Company. We are working to resolve environmental issues by reducing the amount of incineration ash and radioactive waste, detoxifying polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB), and other means.

We provide optimal equipment to Japanese and overseas Plastic-resin, film and nonwovens producers in order to fulfill customer’s demands. For the plastic materials and film industry, we are able to offer extruders (single-screw and multi screws), granulation equipment, coating systems, converting systems and other related equipment made by Japanese and overseas manufacturers. For customers in the field of high value-added compounds/films, and carbon fiber composite materials, we propose valued systems mainly made in Germany and/or other European countries known as world’s most technically advanced regions. On the other hand, for other customers having keen interest in reducing CAPEX, we can provide the equipment manufactured in Korea and Taiwan with good quality and performance. We handle different kinds of compressors and components associated with refrigeration and heating that are installed within refrigerators and air conditioners for household, as well as refrigerator-freezers for commercial use. We offer these compressors and components to major electric-appliance manufacturers in Japan and other countries. We place these products under inventory management through the vendor-managed inventory (VMI) method. This enables us to promptly provide the quantity of products required by customers at the exact time they need them. We offer equipment used in many different manufacturing processes, from the upstream to downstream processes, involved in the production of automobiles. These processes range from casting, forging, machining, and stamping to injection molding, painting, and inspections. Through this equipment, we propose optimal solutions to customers.

Complete on-site safety management and process management are needed to complete work within the limited period for equipment installation. We have in-house supervisory technicians that are able to handle large-scale construction projects. For more than 30 years, the Sojitz Group has offered all-inclusive support for the overseas expansion of companies in all business categories by means of its Total Plant Construction Service (TPCS), a service based on the concept of centralized project management. We have extensive experience in this area, and to date we have supported 300 different projects. Our TPCS is a one-stop service the offers centralized project management of the processes involved in plant construction, from feasibility studies during the concept stage to support after the plant begins operation. In addition to plant construction and the procurement and installation of equipment, it covers applications for authorization related to construction, troubleshooting, negotiations with local authorities, and other time-consuming procedures. This service allows us to use our

wealth of experience to provide full support for companies aiming to expand their business operations overseas.While the TPCS service area encompasses the entire globe, locally-based services will be offered through project teams formed by experts at the Sojitz Group’s overseas locations.
