Analysis
• Analysis is the process of breaking a complex topic or substance into smaller parts to gain a better understanding of it.
• The technique has been applied in the study of mathematics and logic since before Aristotle, though analysis as a formal concept is a relatively recent development[1].
• The word is a transcription of the ancient Greek ἀνάλυσις (analusis), "a breaking up" (from ana- "up, throughout" and lysis "a loosening").[

Analysis of data
Analysis of data is a process of • inspecting,• cleaning, • transforming, • modeling data
with the goal of • highlighting useful information, • suggesting conclusions, • supporting decision making.3

Descriptive statistics
• Descriptive statistics are used to describe the main features of a collection of data in quantitative terms.
• Descriptive statistics are distinguished from inferential statistics, in that descriptive statistics aim to quantitatively summarize a data set, rather than being used to support inferential statements about the population that the data are thought to represent.

Example…
Most statistics can be used either as a descriptive statistic, or in an inductive analysis. For example, we can report the average reading test score for the students in each classroom in a school.
Some statistical summaries are especially common in descriptive analyses. Some examples follow.
• Measures of central tendency • Measures of dispersion • Measures of association • Histogram 5

• Quadrant AnalysisQuadrant analysis is a
simple way to organize customer satisfaction data into a story that will tell you how and where to improve your business operations. Quadrant analysis prioritizes your activities and transforms dry data into a diagnostic tool.
