1. Your Natal Chart Demystified

1.1. Introduction

Vedic astrology provides a roadmap to the strengths and weaknesses inherent in anindividual. Vedic astrology horoscope chart can reveal spiritual and physical abilities topast life Karma, relationships with family, friends, spouse, or partners, as well ascelestially prescribed professional, marital, or social destiny. Vedic astrology also has it’stechnology of astrological remedies. It is not enough to predict what will happen good orbad in a person’s life, Vedic astrologer also prescribes use of Gem stones, Yantras,Mantras to help the individual redirect the course of his/her negative Karma and/orenhance their positive Karma.

1.2. What is a horoscope chart?

A horoscope chart in Vedic astrology essentially indicates the position of all planets at theexact date, time and place of birth for a person in terms of their longitude with respect tothe 12 zodiac signs. It also indicates the person’s unique signature which is the risingZodiac sign and the degree, which is the exact eastern horizon from the place, where aperson is born at the exact time and date of his birth. This is called the Ascendant of theperson. Ascendant is the most unique signature of a person. The Ascendant sign in thehoroscope is called the first house of a person. This is followed by second/third till 12thhouse of the chart in the anticlockwise direction. Ascendant, Planets and Houses are thethree elements of horoscope chart. There are different formats in Vedic astrology torepresent a horoscope chart. These formats are either fixed sign position or fixed houseposition.

There are 7 planets from Sun to Saturn. There are two nodes of Moon which by definitionwill be always 180 degrees from each other in the horoscope. Dignity of planet is based on it’s relationship with the sign where it is located in the natalchart: The dignity largely decides what kind of results the planet will give in it’s period/sub periods/sub-sub periods. 3.3. Different Strength calculations of the Planet and their significance

Vedic astrology has developed a complex mathematical model to determine the strengthsand functionality of each planet in your horoscope. We have first tried to explain themethodology on how to judge the overall strength and their beneficial or challenging rolein your chart. Basically Vedic astrology calculates 3 types of strengths of each planet fromyour horoscope.

3.4. ShadBal

This is the absolute modular strength of the planet and signifies the quantum of it’s effectsin our life irrespective of the functional status or dignity. A Benefic planet with lowShadbal must be strengthened with Gem therapy to make it more effective. A maleficplanet with high shadbal must not be strengthened with Gem therapy because it’s maleficeffects will increase also Instead they must be harmonized with Yantra or propitiated withYagnas and Mantras. This strength is very important for astrologer while he recommendsastrological remedies. The minimum effective shadbal should be 1.0. The maximum cango up to 2.5 in a chart.

3.5. Vimsopak Bal

Vimsopak Bal is calculated based on the dignity of the planet in 16 divisional chartscomputed from the Natal chart. Each divisional chart signifies a specific aspect of life. Forexample Navamsa chart signifies spouse and marital life. The Dasamsa chart signifiesprofession and career. The maximum Vimsopak bal of a planet can be 20, which willsignify the planet will be beneficial for most aspects in life. An average strength of 10 willsignify the planet will have mixed effects for different aspects of life. Less than 10 willsignify the planet will be mostly inauspicious in most aspects in our life.

3.6. Ashtakbarga Natal strength

This signifies the potential of the planet to deliver positive results during transit in relationwith other planets positive and negative effects. The maximum strength can be 8, whichsignifies the planet can give outstanding results in transit. For Saturn and Mars, if theAshtakbarga strength is more than 3 units, it will mean it will give generally positiveresults. 4.2. Soul Index

This gives the progress of astrological signature for the Soul. As such, this Index signifiesthe health of our inner and outer self and how we are building up our physical and mentalpotential. It represents the inner self (the Soul), and the outer self (the Body). It indicatesthe way we project ourselves--our behaviour and attitude to the external world, as well asour physical attributes.

4.3. Wealth Index

This indicates the progress of astrological signature for our capacity to accumulate materialwealth. It projects our earning capacity through our own efforts and represents how we aremanaging the surplus between our income and expenditure of material possessions tocreate a continuous flow of wealth. Since such wealth can be used for the prosperity of ourentire family and society, this index will also signify the material prosperity of our entirefamily and our extended family.

4.4. Efforts Index

This represents our basic energy in life and gives the progress of astrological signature onhow effectively we are utilizing our inherent courage and efforts. Thus, this index signifies our physicaland emotional security level, and monitors our capacity for rest and relaxation as well aspeace of mind. The logical extension is that the index should capture our accumulations ofcreature comforts like good house, conveyance and other luxury items of comfort. On anemotional level, this index will measure our comfort level with our mother, family,motherland, in general everything that constitutes domestic bliss for our life.

4.6. Creativity Index

This gives the astrological signature of our potential to create new things and new ideas. Itmonitors how creatively we are utilizing our knowledge, our karma, our desire and ourefforts. It signifies our level of intelligence. Thus when we are young, this index will givethe signature for our educational and academic achievements. This index is also one oflove, specifically for children. The finest example of our desire and sensual pleasure is thebirth of our progeny from our union of love. 4.7. Disease Index

This gives the astrological signature for disturbance of ease in our life. Disease actuallymeans Disturbance of Ease ' for any aspect of life. If it is disturbance of ease for thephysical body, a negative value of index will represent ' illness '. If it is disturbance of easein vocation, the negative value of index will represent enmity, obstacles, litigation, anddebts. It normally signifies oppositions, difficulties and obstacles in life. A positive valueof index will represent that we are being able to carry out all our ' Karma ' without anyobstacles, and even if there are obstacles we will be able to overcome them successfully.

4.8. Spouse Index

This gives the astrological signature of our relationships with our partners in life, and alsosignifies their well being. The most important partner in our life is our life partner and thatis why we call this index the ' Spouse Index '. This will also indicate our successes andfailures in our business negotiations, and in trading activities. It will also indicate relationswith our business associates and partners. This index also captures astrological signaturesfor short journeys that we may undertake. A positive value of the index will meansuccessful short journeys and a negative value of the index will mean problems anddifficulties in such journeys.

4.9. Windfall Index

This gives the astrological signature for sudden unexpected fortunes and misfortunes.Though windfall is usually associated with gain, we are using this term to signify bothunexpected gains and losses. These events are not expected, strike suddenly and seem to beunavoidable. The positive index value signifies unexpected monetary gains likeunexpected inheritance, or gains in gambling, speculation and lotteries. It also signifiesunexpected new opportunities and contacts, which will be profitable. The negative indexvalue signifies the reverse--calamities, accidents, and losses in speculation, gambling andeven death. As mentioned already, these are the results of past Karmas and Destiny and,according to us, this is that one index which probably cannot be altered by our own efforts.The difference between the Disease index and this index is that the Disease index is notunexpected and sudden, but this one is. 4.10. Destiny Index

This gives the astrological signature for our "Destiny". It represents our prime values,principles, and ideals as well as spiritual and ethical disposition. This gives the astrological signature of how our desires are being fulfilled. Thus, this indexdepicts actual material gain or income that we achieve through our efforts, creativity, andour vocations. A positive value and upward trend may indicate that our gain may be evenhigher than the efforts that we are actually putting. 7.1. Transit of Saturn

Planet Saturn has entered in the sign Scorpio on 2nd November 2014 and transit in thissign till 26th October 2017 for duration of approximately two and a half years.

Saturn would be transiting in the sign Scorpio.
