    KLANKE Hierdie week gaan ons van“dubbele klanke” leer

    This week we’re going to be learning about“double sounds”.

    Lees die woorde op bladsy 1 met die prentjies. Gebruik die prentjies om te raai wat elke woord beteken. Read the words on page 1 with the pictures. Use the pictures as clues and guess what each word means.

    Kyk op bladsy 2 om te sien of jy reg geraai het. Look on page 2 to see if you guessed correctly.

    Look at the rules for “dubbele klanke” on page 3.

    Kyk na die prentjies hieronder en gebruik hulle om kort sinne te probeer maak. Begin elke sin met, “Ek sien…”. Se die sinne hardop vir jou mamma of papppa.

    Look at the pictures below and use them to make short sentences. Start each sentence with, “Ek sien…” (I see…). Say the sentences aloud to your mom or dad.

    Use page 2 and draw and copy the words into your blue Owl klanke book. DRAW the words that have a star ( ) next to them. WRITE down the words without a star. Use any colour to underline the SECOND CONSONANT AND “E” at the end of each word.

  • Dubbel klanke reels VOWELS in Afrikaans are called KLINKERS or VOKALE.

    There are 5 VOWELS:

    ALL the other LETTERS of the alphabet are called CONSONANTS.

    In Afrikaans CONSONANTS are called MEDEKLINKERS

    The “boot” is always the same CONSONANT (MEDEKLINKER) that the word ends on

    and the “snack pack” is always an “e”.

    Plurals / MEERVOUDE can be made from words by doubling the

    consonant and adding an “e”. Here’s a rule to help you remember

    how to do this for DUBBEL KLANKE:

    When a word has a SINGLE VOWEL and ends on a CONSONANT,

  • Vark / Pig

    You will need:

    Cardboard tube (inside of toilet roll), cut to about 5cm Paint: pink and darker pink Pink button 2 pink pipe cleaners 1 skinny pink pipe cleaner Scissors Craft glue or glue gun

    Black koki

    Instructions:

    Paint the cardboard tube inside and out with pink paint and set aside to dry. Glue pink button to the cardboard tube for the nose. From both regular pink pipe cleaners, first cut off 4cm from each. Set the small pieces aside and cut the longer pieces in half. Wrap each of the long halves around the handle end of a small paintbrush to make a coil. Slide off the handle. You should have four coiled pig’s legs. Cut the skinny pipe cleaner in half, coil one half around the handle end of a paintbrush to create the curly tail. Save the other half for another project. Finally, take the remaining two small pieces and bend them into thirds. Fold one third of the pipe cleaner over the side of the cardboard tube to create the ear. Add some glue to hold them in place. Glue each of the legs to the inside of the cardboard tube and poke the curly tail through the back. Secure everything with some glue. Using a scruffy paintbrush or an earbud, dip into dark pink paint and dab off all the

    excess. Dab on cheeks. Use a black koki to add the eyes and eyebrows.
